When Josh shifts back into human form, he's completely naked. Holy f*****g s**t. When I finally meet his eyes, I blush instantly. He smirked, catching me checking him out. "It's okay to look. I'm your mate and I love that you like what you see." He winks at me, causing me to blush even more than I thought possible. "I have a towel inside you can wear." I state and start walking back into my house. I hear his footsteps and know he is close behind me. Once inside I grab a towel for him to wrap around himself before sitting on the couch. "So, what's running through your mind?" He asks, sounding somewhat nervous. "I can't believe that mystical beings actually exist for starters. I also appreciate you not lying to me, even though I had doubted you. Now, you said we are mates? What exactly does that mean?" I question him, eager to learn more about these creatures that I never thought to be real. "Let me ask you something. When we kissed, did you feel sparks?" I smile as I think back to how good his lips felt on mine. "Yes. I felt it throughout my entire body." I admit, causing Josh to smile widely. "When you're a wolf, you feel those sparks intensely. When a wolf finds their mate, they know it by an intoxicating scent that only they smell from their other half. With you, it was coffee. When I made eye contact with you, my wolf yelled in my head that you are our mate. My vampire side wanted to taste your blood, but I won't allow that until you're ready. That's if you even want to be with me. You could reject me and break our mate bond. Being human, you wouldn't feel the same pain I would." "I feel drawn to you, and I want to spend time together before making a decision. Is that okay?" Reaching across the kitchen table, he grabs my hand. "It would be m pleasure to get to know you and introduce you to a world you didn't know existed." Placing a kiss on my hand, I feel the sparks once again. "As much as I want to stay here with you, it's quite late. May I pick you up tomorrow for a first date?" I didn't realize the time, but he's right. It's already one in the morning. The events from today has me frightened still, even with Chad being dead. "Um.." I begin to say, and Josh's face falls. "Are you having second thoughts?" He asks and I can see the hurt expression on his gorgeous face. "What? No! Of course not. I, uh, wanted to ask if you could stay with me tonight?" "I would do anything to make you feel safe, Jennifer."
