When Mustafa had arrived in London, he came to visit his father-in-law in the hospital, without a trace of sympathy. It was as if he was merely there because of some obligation towards his father-in-law.
But Norah was not naïve she had noticed everything and knew that her father’s condition was getting worse because of Mariam and Mustafa.
Norah was very disturbed and became very reserved after that. She did not want to blame her sister for had happened to their father but eventually she blamed Mariam for their father’s condition.
Mariam was more mature than her and could understand that her sister was behaving in that way because of her father, so decided not to visit her father again or make him worry because of her.
But the bonding they had was affected and they drifted apart
