It had been  several days since Ellen had last seen Daniel and that too only from a distance. First it had been her own duty, then he had apparently had a long weekend . She thought she had seen his attractive sports car soaring out through the hospital gates, she had left a slight twinge of disappointment that he had not taken the trouble to say goodbye or at least to mention that he's going. Not that there was any reason why he should come of course, she told herself , as she set up a trolley for a blanket bath. All the same, the feeling lingered. After that she had got only a reflection of him as he was going into causality, but he had been in a hurry, which was probably why he had not seen her when she waved, even though he had been looking in her direction.
