Ava’s heart hummed in her chest like a hummingbird's wings. Dylan was walking next to her as he escorted her back to her dorm room. His shoulder would brush with hers on occasion from how close he was walking. They had a good time together. The conversation never became awkward. They had a couple of classes together starting with the first class of the day in demonology. They would meet up in the main hall and walk together to classes.
“Thank you for spending time with me this evening. I really enjoyed it.” Dylan shifted a bit nervously and fidgeted with his hands.
Ava smiled and bit her bottom lip. He looked like he was a bit nervous but that was impossible. She had never met a nervous alpha. They didn’t exist. Alpha males were usually always arrogant, boastful, with egos that could fill a room. “I’ll see you tomorrow morning.” She turned to her door, placing her hand on the handle.
“Ava?”
She turned and tilted her head to the side smiling at him. “Yes?” She watched as he slid an object out of his pocket.
“Can I have your number? It will be easier to communicate this way, right? In case I get lost or anything…” Dylan winced at how lame he sounded but felt warmth spread over him as she giggled at him.
“Sure.” Ava reached out and entered her contact information in his phone. “I should have walked you to your room. I am the one who knows my way around here.”
“No. I don’t want you walking around alone… I mean… it isn’t gentleman like to not walk you home…” Dylan felt like a rookie with the ladies. Suddenly he was someone who didn’t know how to talk to women.
“Goodnight Dylan.” Ava smiled and walked into her room flipping the light on. She looked around her medium sized dorm room. It wasn’t too small but cozy. The walls in her room were a light beige color and on the side of the wall was a large window showing the darkness of night. She walked over and closed their curtain. She looked over at her side of the room where there was her own wardrobe and desk and against the wall was her bed. Luckily her and Mia had a small bathroom attached to their room they could share. Not all dorms had this. It wasn’t big but had a small shower stall, toilet and sink.
She stripped out of her clothes and hopped into the shower turning on the hot water letting it cascade over her body. Her mind drifted to Dylan. Was someone like that really interested in her? Really? Someone that attractive and kind. He was very tentative to her while they were together. But maybe that was just for show? He didn’t act at all like the typical alpha she has met.
She shook her head and scrubbed shampoo into her hair. Why was she thinking so much about that guy? She even felt like she was missing him already. What was wrong with her? She reached forward, turning the water off. She wrapped a towel around herself and walked back into their main room. She quickly put her pajamas on and towel dried her hair. The sound of the door opening made her glance up. She saw Mia standing with her hand on the door slightly open while lip-locked with Kadae.
“See you tomorrow.” Mia giggled and shut the door. She looked up at Ava and grinned.
“I see you had fun.” Ava giggled and plopped on her bed.
“It was so much fun I hate to shower the experience off of me. But we promised to do it again…” Mia flashed a devilish grin to Ava.
“Mia what happens with you and anyone for that matter can please stay that way. Your escapades are your own private affairs. You don’t need to share with the class.” Ava said as she pulled the blanket up to her chest.
“Oh? So you don’t want to hear anything? Nothing about how sculpted and hard his body is? Or how magical his tongue is…”
“Mia!” Ava felt the heat rising to her cheeks. She was blushing for Mia.
“And you don’t want to hear how much he filled me up…-”
Ava launched a small pillow at Mia. “No, I don't want to hear about any of that stuff. That is your private life.”
“Ava…” Mia waved her finger at her. “Just because you didn’t capture the flag tonight doesn’t mean you should be jealous of another success story.”
“Oh my gosh Mia. What is wrong with you?” Ava giggled.
“So how was your time with Dylan?” She asked curiously.
“Don’t you dare sit down on my bed. You still have s*x sweat on you.” Ava kicked at her from under the blankets. “Umm… things were nice with Dylan. We ran into Todd and for once Todd froze. I’m pretty sure Dylan is an alpha so that would probably make Kadae his beta. And… Dylan told me he likes me. I’m not reading too much into it but…”
“Goodness Ava! What are you doing?! He said he likes you and you didn’t play with his magic stick at all? Why not girl?!”
“Mia.” Ava giggled. Her friend always had a way with her words. “I don’t want to jump into anything… not after how things were with Todd. I just am not sure it is even a good idea to have a relationship right now. Maybe I should wait for my mate. Plus you know… what about who I am?” Mia was one of the few people who knew her secret. She was someone Ava trusted wholeheartedly.
“Any werewolf would be proud to have you, Ava. It isn’t the wolves you have to worry about it’s the lycans.” Mia shrugged. “Just don’t overthink things. You could miss out on a good thing. Or at the very least use him for a one-night stand. Take him for a test drive and see if he is worth keeping around. Is he an automatic or a stick drive? And if he's anything like Kadae you’ll be test driving every opportunity you get.”
“Thanks for the advice.” Ava chuckled. “Go and get your shower.”
“Sadly I must wash my memories off…” Mia said as she walked to the bathroom. “Although where those memories happened are not being washed. I’d avoid the back bookshelf in the library and also the window sill in the laboratory. I also don’t know how well they wash the floor so if you drop something in either of those rooms…” She scrunched up her nose. “Just leave it be.”
“Oh gosh Mia!” Ava grabbed her pillow and shoved it over her head as she listened to her friend giggling.
“Let’s hope they don’t go through those rooms with a black light.”
That was the last thing Ava heard before she heard the sound of the shower turning on. Mia was not a bashful person at all. She was sure a shy bone didn’t exist in her body. She was everything you would picture of an alpha’s daughter. Radiant and confident. She was beautiful and compassionate to others. And she never backed down from a challenge.
Ava wasn’t exactly shy but she tried to keep a low profile when she could. It wasn’t that she lacked confidence but she didn’t want to attract unwanted attention. The school was lycan free since lycan’s were too good to go to school with others. She was raised to keep her secret hidden and safe. Because of that, she blended in with other werewolves the best she could. And avoided shifting in public. She would often sneak outside of the school grounds in order to shift freely. People rarely left the barriers during the day and it never happened at night. This is why it was the perfect time to go for a run.
Mia walked out of the shower and strolled over to flip the light off.
“Are you forgetting clothes?” Ava asked peeking at her friend.
“I’m not wearing clothes to bed tonight. I am rewarding my body with freedom. It earned it tonight for its job well done.”
Ava giggled. “Okay, Mia.” Her friend was an odd one sometimes but she loved her dearly.
“I feel bad that I’m going to have to cage my puppies up with a bra tomorrow. But there isn’t anything I can do about that. You should see all the love bites on them. Kadae was like an infant trying to figure out how to get milk. He was biting them all over the place. It’s a pity that evidence will be gone in the morning.”
“If you want to keep those marks around then slow your healing.” Ava said trying to be sympathetic to her friend.
“But if I do that then I won’t know which marks are new ones tomorrow. Plus they’ll be a bit tender. I was very happy with Kadae’s stamina he is a real thoroughbred and likes ridden rough. He’s earned the Triple Crown in my book.” Mia stretched her arms above her head as she crawled into her bed. “You know if you get with Dylan we can swap roommates at times. That would be fun.”
“Are you are nymphomaniac Mia?”
“Not sure. But if I am I don’t think it’s a bad thing. It just means I need to find a guy who can keep me satisfied and if I was some psycho I’d e*****e Kadae for myself. Can you imagine? I could tie a cute collar around his neck and chain him to my bed. And whenever I was in the mood I’d just give his leash a tug.”
“Mia!”
“I’m teasing Ava. Goodness, this is why you need to get pounded. You need some good old-fashioned tenderizing… maybe even from Dylan.” Mia smirked and she snuggled into her pillows.
“Goodnight Mia.” Ava just shook her head and rolled over.
“Goodnight Ava.”
“Pleasant dreams,” Ava said with a yawn.
“No way. I’m not resorting to dreams. I’m going for the playback reel. Now that’s what dreams are made of.”
“Well pleasant whatever.” Ava giggled quietly. Tomorrow was their first day of classes. She was supposed to meet Dylan and walk together but she wonder if he would end up changing his mind. After all, maybe he would realize he could have anyone he wanted. And there were plenty of girls who would give him anything he wanted whenever he wanted it.
A soft buzz came from her phone and she saw the blue light shine from her desk. She reached her hand out and brought her phone to her.
“Good night beautiful. See you in the morning. -Dylan.”
