Third-person POV
Milena was frustrated. She missed the opportunity to ask Lucas about some relevant natters like what kind of being he was. Also, Milena was curious to meet with Lucy after knowing some truth about her. She wanted to know what kind of supernatural beings Lucian, Lucy, Mathew, and Aria were.
She wanted to know so many things about this alternate magical world and her friends here. But when Lucas let his guard down, she could not process all the information he was giving. The gravity of the situation consumed her, and eventually, she lost her vision. She did not ask the right questions nor demand too much from Lucas.
Instead, she gave up some miserable secrets of her life. She wondered what he would be thinking of her after learning about Karl and Ronald. She was scared that he would be looking at her in a negative light now. She never thought Lucas had any interest in her.
But she still can't wrap her head around what happened between the two on the cliff. When she hesitated to talk about her past, Lucas respected her wish. He also supported her by holding her hands as long as she needed. She looked at her palms and flushed. The memory of it was vivid. She had craved emotional support for ages. But not even in her wildest dreams, she had imagined it would come from Lucas, her abductor. She always thought he was cold and selfish. But now she knows that she was wrong. The more the truth unfolded, the more she admired Lucas.
While Milena was deep in her thoughts, Aria observed her keenly. She had grown fond of her. Suddenly, Aria heard Lucas over her mind link. A beam of happiness spread over her, and she looked triumphantly towards Milena.
"What is it? Why do you look so happy out of the blue? I am distressed here," sighed Milena.
"I don't know what you did. But Lucas said if you still want it, you can visit Lucy. But I will be with you at that time." Aria exclaimed.
Milena was happy to finally be able to get inside the restricted area. She felt a bit magical and could not help but rush. Aria followed an enthusiastic and energetic Milena. But like the careless type she was, she did not heed attention to what Aria had been saying in her tow. She hit the invisible barrier again and ended up hurting herself. When Aria found her lying on the floor, rubbing her head, Aria could not help but laugh at her. Milena blushed at her stupidity but frowned that she was still not able to cross the wall. The barrier was up still against her. Why?
Lucas, Lucian, and Mathew entered the hall while Aria was helping Milena stand. A lady in pink followed the three men. She was exquisitely beautiful. The Pink dress suited her pale skin. Her blonde hair was tightly braided. She looked fresh, like a morning lily blooming under the sun. She was certainly younger than Milena.
Lucian introduced her as Beatrix. Milena thought the name suited her. Beatrix was a witch. She was going to tweak the spell to make adjustments for Milena to walk through the invisible barrier. Milena felt stupid not to have realized it sooner. Since it was a barrier made from a magical spell, they would need some magic to allow her to pass through it. But she was still new to this world and learning their ways. She could not help her excitement and hence the stupidity.
Beatrix cast a spell on Milena. She was expecting pixie dust or a wand or at least flickering candles. At least some fireworks or light works would do. But nothing. After some chanting in some foreign tone, Beatrix gave a go-ahead. Milena tried to check for the wall by reaching her hand. But she could not feel any barrier. It was done. She was a bit unhappy that the event did not match her expectation. But on a brighter note, she will finally be able to meet Lucy.
When Milena started walking through the wall, Lucas was the one who asked her not to. Milena was frustrated and gave him a disdainful look. She wondered what he expected from her. He calls the witch, casts the spell, and now forbids her from going inside! What is he thinking?
But before Milena would have spoken something, Aria held her hand and whispered that it was Lucy's checkup time. Rosalind would not like her presence there. Milena nodded her head in agreement and thought she could wait for some time more. Lucy's health was more important.
On Aria's insistence, Milena joined others for dinner. Milena had noticed that ever since Beatrix came, Lucian was too happy. He was always around her and made sure to leave a good impression. Lucian was amiable and gentle. He was funny and understanding. Milena thought those qualities should be good enough for any girl, be it witch or otherwise. She decided to ask more about this Lucian later.
Lucas was his stubborn self. He contributed least in the conversation. But whenever he said something, everyone listened with utmost priority. It was unsettling for Milena, seeing that everybody prayed for him literally. She could not bring herself to such devotion for anyone. Human or not!
She was bound to too many people out of fear, gratitude, habit, and reasons she was not clear herself. But she was never ever devoted to anyone. She would lie to them whenever fit. She wondered what Lucas had done for these people for them to be so loyal.
At the same time, she recently discovered herself being obsessed with Lucas. Aria had pointed out last morning. Though she convinced Aria that it was not the case, she could not convince herself. Lucas was a mystery, and she needed to solve it.
"You are quieter than usual, Lucas," Beatrix mentioned.
"No, it is just that I am listening to all the nice things everyone has to say," Lucas answered. It was a lie everyone knew but ignored it, anyway.
