I was born a bastard – a curse, as people in my pack preferred to whisper behind my back.
They said my mother had seduced Alpha Alaric in his weak state and that a one-night stand had produced me when, in reality, it was the Alpha that had forcefully grabbed my mother against her will.
When she found out she was with a child, he had told her to keep it, hoping it’d be a son… since he was desperate for one, but since I was born a girl… I was deserted and automatically became a bastard.
I was bullied by every person in the pack and called names both behind my back and in my presence. At a point, I stopped worrying about being called a poor, smelly bastard because I was determined to break out of my cocoon and the only position, I had in mind was to become a lawyer – not just any kind… a badass lawyer who would bring wandering Alphas who take advantage of lowly Omegas to the book and make sure every one of them is punished.
But the only way I could attend an Ivy League University without the rigours of several applications and a full scholarship with funding, I had to become a student of Silver Moon Academy.
It was a top-notch high school attended by only children of Lycans, Alphas, and Betas. But that was not the only catch. If you graduate at the top of your class with a C.G.P.A of 4.8, you'll be qualified to attend any Ivy League university of your choice automatically.
“What are you doing here?”
My step-sister - Vanessa broke into my thoughts as I stood in front of the Pack’s ceremonial hall, my borrowed gown clutched tightly in my left hand, and my heart beating faster than a running wheel. This would be the first time I’d be meeting my father since I was two, and I was a nervous mess.
“Dad –,” I cleared my throat, willing myself to remain calm “Alpha Alaric invited me to the ball.”
“Dad, invited you?” she scoffed “This isn’t some charity event for strays. So ask why I’m still being nice or else I’ll ask the guards to throw you out,”.
I ignored her taunting sneer, and reached into my borrowed clutch, producing a crisp, golden invitation that had been delivered to the house two nights ago.
“I have an invitation,” I said quietly, “And also the scan code. These invitations came from the Alpha himself.”
Her eyes narrowed as she snatched the invitation letter from me, scrutinizing it for any sign of forgery. Finding none, she thrust it back at me with a huff.
“Fine, but don’t embarrass us and stay far,”.
As she stomped away, an usher appeared by my side. “Willow Archer?” she asked, arching her brow.
“Yes!” I nodded, handing her the invitation.
“Welcome, miss. Please come in,”.
I stepped into the hall and was blown away by its splendor. For months, I had begged my father, Alpha Alaric, for a chance to speak with him about securing admission to Silver Moon Academy and all my efforts and hopes had been dashed. His sudden invitation to the ball had come as a shock, but I was determined to make use of this opportunity.
I moved through the crowd awkwardly, trying not to make myself noticeable. This was the first time I would be attending a gathering like this. My eyes darted from face to face, searching the crowd for the Alpha. The more I searched, the dizzier I became.
After what felt like hours of fruitless searching, I decided I needed a moment to collect myself.
Making my way to the grand staircase to find the ladies, I walked down the hallway, peering at each door, hoping I would find it soon as my need to pee was growing urgent.
As I hurried down the corridor, I stopped at a door at the far end of the hallway and pushed it open, thinking it was the ladies.
But instead…
There stood my father – Alpha Alaric, naked with his member buried in between the legs of none other but Princess Bethany – the daughter of the Lycan King.
At first… I just stood there frozen, not knowing what to do or say, not until I realized that I had stumbled upon a secret that could tear apart not just my family but the entire Kingdom…
What would I do now?
