Dianna’s Point Of View Two Weeks Later 12 Noon I walked down the corridor to the break room so that I could refill my coffee mug. The fashion show event is in two days and I am stuck between excitement and nervousness. I could show up solo but I didn't want to. Jessica will be modeling tonight and Chad is going to be there. They have been all over the media ever since they broke the internet and neither of them had little to no shame. As I walked back to my office, I saw Aries standing by the door. I stopped walking for a little while and looked at him. He could pull off any suit. Ever since we met, I have only seen him in black-and-white suits or all-black. My gown is a perfect shade of emerald green and he could wear his usual black suit with a matching tie. I walked up to him and smiled. “Aries, you know that the fashion ball is in two days, right?” I asked. He looked down at me and cleared his throat. “Yes, Ms. Hendrix,” He responded. “I was wondering if you would like to accompany me,” I said “Yes ma’am,” He said. I reached my hand out to his and touched him. “I mean as my date. Sure you can be my bodyguard, but I want you to accompany me as my date,” I said to him. He looked at me and then shook his head. “Why on earth do you want me as your date?” He asked. “I don’t want to go solo. Chad and Jessica will be there and I don’t know if I can go one night watching the two of them suck faces,” I admitted. He heaved a sigh and then nodded. “Yes, I will accompany you,” He told me. I smiled widely and took his arm, pulled him into my office, closing the door behind us. “So, do you have an emerald green tie? Or maybe a shirt?” I asked him “I don’t wear ties and I have an emerald green pocket square,” He told me. “Okay, the pocket square will do. How will you do your hair?” I asked. “This is a total waste of time. I will do my hair how I normally do it,” He said. “I want you to look hot. Irresistible, sexy, and more handsome. I want, when our pictures are being taken, you don’t just look like my bodyguard,” I told him. “I already consider myself irresistible, sexy, and handsome. Are you trying to say you want the pictures to look as if we are dating?” He asked. I bit my lips sheepishly and smiled. “Yes, I want us to look as if we are dating,” I admitted. “And then the next headline will be about the fashion guru dating her bodyguard. That also means the media will be talking about it and my picture will be all over the internet. I am not so sure that I need that much publicity,” He let out. I smiled and shrugged my shoulders. “I know you will be fine. It is just for one night,” I assured him. “Alright Ms. Hendrix,” He said “Please call me Dianna. I think after two years, the first name base is long overdue and I am not exactly your boss because I didn’t hire you,” I reminded him. He nodded. “Well, I will remember that next time,” He told me. I hummed and sipped my coffee. “We are having lunch together today. I will be ready in an hour,” I told him. I walked to my desk and sat down and then he made his way out of my office, standing by the door. When my lunch hour arrived, I fixed my makeup and my hair, grabbed my bag, and left my office. I had no plans on returning to the office later, so I locked my office door. My assistant smiled at me as I made my way to the elevator with Aries behind me. I waved at her, telling her that I will be seeing her tomorrow. “The next time you want to have lunch with me, ask first. The demands don’t work well with me, Dianna,” Aries voiced, pressing the button to close the elevator doors. “Well, I will remember that the next time, but one day you should ask me,” I told him “I doubt that day will come,” He said, chuckling softly. I hummed as we made it to the parking lot. “We are going to that fancy burger restaurant. They have the biggest and juiciest burgers I have see. Everything taste so good and the meat and cheese and everything you get in one bite,” I gushed. I sighed deeply and Aries opened the car door for me. “Okay,” He muttered and got in the driver’s side of the car. When we got to the restaurant, we were immediately shown to our booth. I ordered a vanilla milkshake and the burger while Aries got a burger and a glass of water. I wanted to ask why water but I decided against it. His eyes wandered around the restaurant each time he looks up and I smiled, admiring the frown on his face. Just then, the restaurant door opened. When I looked up to see who it was, I wish I hadn’t. It was Chad and Jessica walking in, hand in hand. I averted my gaze from them quickly and looked at Aries. He was already looking at me and I smiled stiffly. Chad and Jessica took a booth a few feet away from ours and I tried to ignore them the best I could. “I have never tried a full house burger before,” Aries said to me. My jaw almost dropped. “You are literally joking right now, right? You never had a loaded burger? In all the 30 years you have been on planet earth, you have never eaten a loaded burger?” I asked him. He smiled and shook his head. “Never. I don’t think it is necessary to be eating so many different meats in one meal. Having sauce drip down my chin is not something I like. It is rather disgusting in my opinion,” He said. “It is really good but I understand because it is really easy to get tired of,” I said to him. After a few minutes, our food arrived and I couldn’t be happier. The burger looked so beautiful with cheesy fries. I couldn’t be dumb and not order this and I loved it more than anything. I watched Aries eat his, slowly picking at it. He didn’t seem like he liked it that much but he was eating it. Next time I will be more considerate when we go out to eat. I heard a small giggle and looked over at Chad and Jessica’s booth. They were kissing and he was busy whispering in her ear. I quickly looked away from them when a big warm hand engulfed mine. “Your hands are really small,” Aries said to me. I smiled, feeling my cheeks get warm. “Thank you. Yours are huge and so smooth,” I said. He licked his lips and shrugged. “I am a man after all. My hands are supposed to be bigger,” He said, still caressing my hand. I relaxed and continued to eat my fries. “Okay, I am about to be nosy. When you were back at home, were you seeing anyone?” I asked him. He chuckled and the sound made my stomach flutter. “I dated a few women, yes. My last girlfriend and I broke up because she had to move away and I wasn’t going to go with her because I didn’t see the point. Our relationship lasted for only 6 months,” He said. “What was she like?” I asked. He rolled his eyes and sighed. “She was beautiful, smart and funny. She was very much different from the other women I have been with. She was caring and loving. She was a great listener but every relationship is built on trust and I never trusted her enough,” He said to me. I raised my eyebrows at him and he nodded. “Was it her fault why you didn’t trust her or was it yours?” I asked him. “A bit of both, but more so me. There are things about me that she didn’t know and I never trusted her enough to tell her because I never felt that I could,” He told me. Aries and I talked until we finished our food. I looked over to Chad and Jessica’s table and caught Chad glaring at me and Aries’ joint hands. Aries tugged my hand and I turned my attention back to him. He gave me a look as if he was telling me not to look at them. I gave him a gentle smile and from then, I didn’t glance at their table. By the time we were finished, it was time to leave so I could go pick up my gown. We cleaned up our trash and then left the restaurant. I didn’t have the urge to look back and check to see what Chad and Jessica were up to. I was so focused on what Aries was saying and, if I am being honest, this has to be the most he had ever spoken to me since we met. “Where are you heading now?” Aries asked me once we got in the car. “I need to pick up my gown and a few pieces of jewelry,” I told him, putting my seatbelt on. He nodded his head and drove off. “Will you be heading home afterward?” He asked me. “No, I have one last place I want to visit before I head home,” I said, smiling softly. “Alright,” He nodded and put his attention back on the road. I leaned my head on the window and sighed. “Thank you so much for today. When Chad walked into the restaurant and you distracted me. Thank you for that,” I said to him. “No need to thank me,” He said.
