“You’re a vampire. I thought you were a witch.” Byron walks to her and sniffs.
Hagen and Riggins are walking behind him and sniffing toward Francemia.
Before she could answer, Joaquin cleared his throat. “Didn’t I tell you to bring the vampire to me?” He held his arms out. “I'm still waiting.”
She looked at the three men, and said, “If you all keep sniffing me, I’ll begin to believe I stink. Yes, I’m a vampire and a witch.” Francemia walked into Joaquin’s arms. "I can't keep Papa waiting."
"I love it when you call me Papa." He gave her a peck on her lips, cutting his eyes at Riggins. Hagen and Byron. "One day you three will learn to listen to my orders. My mate is a Hybrid. Stop sniffing her.”
“So you four are vampires also. But are hiding your scents.” Riggins looked at Starr, Phylicia, Jenna, and Delilah shaking their heads.
“No, they’re not vampires or witches. They’re humans.” Francemia turns to look at her four friends. “Ladies, we have a war to get ready for. Be careful and come back in one piece.”
The four women nod to her pickup a whole raw chicken and walk toward the doorway.
“They sure do love raw meat,” Hagen mumbles, looking at Delilah chewing.
“I see they do.” Joaquin had been listening to Francemia's thoughts, and she hadn’t thought once about what her friends were. Other than they're human. “Sunshine, you haven’t fed since you have been here. Do we need to go to a blood bank or do you prefer fresh blood?" He glanced over at Hagen, Riggins, and Byron. They start rubbing their necks and slowly walking out of the room.
"No I good. Besides, I can survive on food and blood. I'll feed during the battle. Don't worry, I will never feed on either of you. At least I don't think I would. Time will tell." Francemia licked Joaquin's ear. "I'm going to bed. Care to join me," She disappears.
"Contact me if anything happens." Joaquin laughs, looking at the three men still rubbing their necks, then he disappears.
"Hybrid. Our Queen is a Hybrid. Hybrid and a Lycan King. I'm looking forward to watching the humans fight. I still haven't seen them with any weapons." Byron looked out the window, it got dark. "Damn what happened to the moonlight." The darkness only lasted for a few seconds before the moonlight appeared.
Riggins looks at the moon. "What are those things flying close to the moon? Oh never mind, it's just witches out for a late-night joyride.
"That's why it got dark." Byron thought, looking at the figures circling.

L. Q., Rocky, and Jaskier have been drinking whiskey while waiting for Parry to arrive. Rocky is about to give up the thought of him coming when they hear him walking out of the woods complaining about a she-wolf. They had stopped at a bar when they first arrived in Kinghaven for a drink. The woman refused to spend the night with him because he was a rogue.
“Here we go. That fat lord hogshead cheese believes he’s God’s gift to women.” Jaskier turns his nose up, looking at Parry. He had never liked Parry. Parry is known for drugging women and doing horrible things to them. The way he looks at it, the young woman that has angrier Parry might have saved her life for having good taste.
L. Q. Know that Jaskier doesn’t like being around Parry, but a job is a job. He was paid for him and his men to be there. That’s the only reason he and his men are there, regardless of what Rocky believes, friendship doesn’t have a damn thing to do with him wanting the Lycan King dead. It’s all about the Benjamins. He motions for Jaskier to walk with him.
Jaskier rolled his eyes at Parry and nodded and followed him.
Parry and Rocky watch the two men. Parry points to them, "I have always thought they were mates." He was disappointed when Rocky said they were brothers. They have the same mother but different fathers. L.Q. mother was their father's first mate. She was killed in a battle a few years later. Their father found his second mate and had Jaskier, and they were raised together.
When they’re a good distance, L.Q. reminds him they’re there to do a job. He doesn’t have to entertain Parry and keep his distance from him. Jaskier suggests they leave and r****d the money he isn’t feeling this job. He also felt they were being watched the other night and early the next morning. For a minute he smelt his mate, but the scent was gone as quickly as it came.
“Your mate.” L. Q. narrows his eyes, looking at him.
He nodded, “Yes, she was here. I figure she ran away because of all the men.”
L.Q. scratches his neck. “We can’t take the chance of you losing your mate. Not to mention the bad feeling you have. I’ve always listened to you when it comes to your feelings and when it comes to matters like that. Our parents always said you have a six sense. First thing in the morning, we headed back to Dallas. I’ll transfer the money back to that b***h. She won’t be happy, but at least she'll get her money back. That’s the best I can do for her horny ass. The only reason she wanted Joaquin dead was because he refused to f**k her. Hell, she even tried to drug him, but he heard her plot and left before that happened."
Rocky's looking at L.Q. and Jaskier. When they return, he notices both men go into their tents without talking to anyone. He thought about going to talk to L.Q. but when Diego and Tate arrived he forgot because they were telling them about seeing Joaquin and his beautiful new mate, who’s a vampire.
“Yep, she is a beauty. Young as hell too Queen Francemia.” Diego chuckled ‘Joaquin's arrogant ass made a point to introduce her to us before they left.”
Tate smirks and grabs his junk. “Man, I must say she was looking sexy as hell in that white halter top mini dress. Sexy ass legs that I would love to have wrapped around me.”
“Damn man, you saw all of that. I didn’t notice her legs. I was too busy looking at her hard n*****s and the cleavage showing off her teardrop breast.” Diego pretends to be squeezing Francemia's breast.
Rocky laughs, pointing at Diego. Tate wasn't the only one that saw a lot."
Parry hadn't been listening to the three men after he heard Diego say Francemia's name. "No, it can't be her. That young lady isn't a vampire. Maybe I heard the name wrong." He drank a half bottle of whiskey in one gulp. "What did you say her name was?"
"Francemia," Diego and Tate say in unison.
"That's what I thought. I've only heard of one beautiful woman named Francemia. But she's human and has a thing about hanging out in bars with sifters and vampires. At first, I thought they were fangbangers. But they never leave with a man, which I find quite odd. Unless they don't like men. That must be it. We're speaking about two different ladies." Parry opened another bottle of whiskey. "I'm sure we are." He looked a little skeptical.
Rocky figured Parry must have hit on her or one of her friends and was turned down.
Tate and Diego are looking at each other. They're sure that it's the same woman. Because at first, they thought she was human, also. Diego was about to tell Parry that when Tate shook his head.
