CHAPTER ONE

Amelia took a deep breath as she looked over the presentation one last time.
The day she has been working towards for a long time. She had heard about the company and how the company would revolutionize the way her company operated if the presentation went well.
Amelia is the manager of Maureen's company. She has been working for the company for a year and a half. She started working there as a cleaner when she was pregnant. She was promoted to be a marketer after birth, and finally a manager.
The owner had entrusted her with the company, as the owner wasn't around for now.
“Perfect,” She said as she applied her lipgloss to her lips.
She checked her reflection in the mirror, making sure her appearance was polished and professional.
She went to her living room to hug her twins before she left.
She considered not taking her car, because the "Newton Building" where the meeting was to be held was near.
She flagged down a cab.
"Newton Building," She said as she sat in the backseat.
She closed her eyes, trying to focus on her presentation and before she knew it, the cab highlighted.
"We are there already," The cab man said.
She looked surprised that the ride had gone quickly, her heart pounding fast.
She stepped out of the cab and walked towards the building.
At the building, she met the receptionist.
"Hello, Are you Ms. Amelia?" The receptionist asked with a smile.
“Yes, I am Ms. Amelia” She nodded and smiled back.
"You are welcome miss, the boardroom is on the 26th floor, and the elevator is down the hall"
"Alright, thank you"
“Wishing you the best in your presentation”
“Thank you” Amelia smiled.
She walked slowly down the elevator as she prayed silently.
She pressed the button for the 26th floor.
At the end of the hallway, she saw a double door with the words *Boardroom".
She entered the boardroom and she met groups of people in suits.
It wasn't her first time having a meeting with the CEO and managers of the company, so she was calm.
She greeted everyone as she sat down.
She was called upon to present her presentation.
She went out boldly, as she was very prepared.
As she was about to start, she set her eyes on Mr. Alexander.
She froze, she was shocked, her heart pounding in her chest.
“I'm…. I'm….. Ame…Amelia” She was stammering.
“Is this the woman everyone considers smart?” The voice echoed from the man he had been looking at… “If that's it, I think I am done here.”
“I am also done here…. I am done here.” Everyone was not impressed as she was not able to say anything. They expected more, according to her past presentation.
Everyone left, she was shaking and was very disappointed in herself.
She had attended different meetings and represented the company, but now she lost the opportunity she had been waiting for.
She left the building, looking for a cab to take her home. For about thirty minutes, she found no cab.
She was sweating profusely due to the heat when a car stopped beside her.
This same man, Alexander, who she saw that she was unable to present, stepped out of the car.
She looked keenly into the man's face. Yes, she's right, it's who she thinks he is, he's the one he had a one night stand with years ago, the one she had looked for before accepting her fate, the one who impregnated her, the father of her twins.
“Hello… Are you okay?” He said as she moved closer to her.
Amelia nodded her head, trying to avoid him.
“Let me give you a ride to your house. It's the least I can do.”
He noticed Amelia was looking at him, but he thought it was the usual look from the ladies, because of his sexiness.
“I am fine, thank you,” Amelia said, trying to avoid eye contact with him.
“I'll ask the last time, will you like to come in?”
She was confused, the heat was much and she doubted if she would see any cab in the next hour, even though she was avoiding him, she accepted his offer to avoid waiting for long.
She tried composing herself as she described her house to Alexander's driver.
“Ms. Amelia? Your programs and everything I have watched on TV went well, you are sound and diligent, what went wrong?”
“I am sorry, I actually…. I am sorry”
“I have heard about you before creating time for this. I regretted coming here because you wasted my time”
“You aren't bad,” he said as he touched her hair slowly.
“Your face looks familiar, have I met you physically before?” He asked staring at her.
“Not at all, I am not sure. I doubt it”, She said sharply.
“Giving Maureen's company a chance isn't a bad idea, but you failed woefully at the presentation”
Even if she has been looking forward to this a long time, she knows being in a corporation with FL company would definitely bring success to Maureen's company but she doesn't want to be seeing Alexander frequently.
“I will be glad, and I am sure you won't regret it” Amelia made up her mind.
Before they knew it, they got to her house. Alexander stepped out and he saw two children crawling to his side.
“Oooh..Cuties” Alexander said as he carried one of them.
“Whoa…. So this is their father, Daniel, who looks alike”. The new maid, Ameli, had just been hired, he said.
Amelia was shaking all through, giving the maid an eye signal, but she wasn't aware of it.
“My secretary will call you and let you know about it,” Alexander said, dropping the child. “Are they your children?”
“Yes, they are my children. They are twins, Daniel and Daniella”
“Oooh… they are cute, I love twins,” he said, heading to his car.
“Thank you, Mr. Alexander, I will be expecting your call”
Alexander didn't reply, he entered his car, and it zoomed off.
