"Do you want to tour the pack?" James asked in an attempt to start a conversation and probably lighten the atmosphere.
"What else do I need to see? I think I will see everything when the time comes," I said while looking out the window. I looked at the carefree people walking on the sidewalk with smiles on their faces. I was so jealous of them. Even after finding a place that felt so perfect that I could not wait to call it my home, I still had to sit on pins and needles.
"Well, okay, I guess when the time comes, you will also see the warrior layer then," James said while faking regret, but no matter how hard he tried, he still could not hide that subtle smile on his face.
