Kelsie's POV My fingers reach for the strands of my hair and rake it. I am trying to make myself busy to escape this awkwardness. However, I do not think I can, given the fact that I am surrounded by the Maccons. Mr. Boris couldn't take it any longer and let out a hoarse wave of laughter while Mrs. Maccon smiled, showing her complete set of teeth. "I do not know you are capable of getting shy, Kelsie. I always see you with your flat expression," Boris commented. I pressed my lips together and straightened my back, trying to act cool. Ugh! How long have they been reading my mind? This is so embarrassing! "You will learn how to block your mind too, Kelsie. You just need to focus and a little bit of practice. No need to pressure yourself. Not everyone in our pack can read minds," Coral added. I nodded at her and flashed a smile. I really don't know how to respond to it because my mind is still thinking of how to put out the embarrassment lurking in my system. "But he still needs to learn them soon. Even Bane can read her thoughts," Connor said. I look up at him. Mr. Bane did read my thoughts. I think he told me about it when we first met after he narrate to me his past with my mom. "She will eventually learn it. Kelsie is a smart girl. Good luck on your tomorrow's test." Boris point his index finger at me and gave me a friendly wink. "She is," Connor murmured while my eyes are on his father. I am not sure if anyone heard it since it's too soft and his father's voice overpowered him. Unexpectedly and fortunately, the lunch went smoothly. "It's delicious, Kelsie. We had a great time," Coral smiled. A heavy bulk of stone was lifted on my chest. I'm relieved. That was the longest lunch I had in my entire life. We all stand in our seats to escort Connor's parents outside. They bid their goodbyes as we walk them toward the exit. Before completely leaving, Boris looked over his shoulder to have a peek at us. "Take care, you two. Connor..." he landed his gaze on his son. "Better do a family planning as early as now. I kind of regret having an only son. I should have made three," he chuckled. I smiled awkwardly even though he is talking to Connor. My pale face that is usually looked like it was drained with blood is now red as a tomato. Of course, I understand what he said. I'm not that innocent! And also, since when did they learn that Connor and I were... doing stuff? 'Oh, Lord...' I whispered in my mind. I hope I blocked my mind when I said it. Coral slightly hit her husband's shoulder. "Leave the kids alone." She look at us and flashed a genuine smile. "We will go now," she said. Connor and I stand side by side on the door frame while we watch his parents' backs as they walk out of our sight. "Let's go?" I heard him utter. My eyes are still on the path where his parents left. His hand went to its favorite place. I sighed and shift my gave to him. "They knew," I said. I do not have to explain it further for him to understand what I was saying. He nods, darting his eyes on the emptied porch of the house. "Of course, they do. I think what they are not aware of is the fact that we have no plans of telling everyone... yet," he added the last word in a whispered tone. Guilt crept into my body. My stomach went hollow as if some tiny disgusting insect is crawling into my gut. The sound of his voice when it went from manly to soft made me rethink of my decision. Let me get my facts straight: Firstly, I want to be in a relationship with Connor. Not just 'like', but I 'love' being in the same oage as him. Secondly, I lowkey want his parent to know (which they alrrady soes), but doesn't want the public to know. Thirdly, I want the oublic to know soon, but not soon enough to give me time to rebrand myself. I sigh in my own complicated thoughts. "A penny of your thoughts?" My brows creased as my eyes landed on him. My confussion were immediately answered when he continued. "You're taking a deep deep breath. Seems like you are thinking of something heavy." I am indeed transparent when I'm with him, like a visible soul without a body it can hide into. I sigh again, quickly forgetting that I told my self for about half a second that I should stop sighing. Connor chuckled. His hand on my stomach slightly squeeze it. "Want to release it? I'm all ears," he said. I pressed my lips together and twist them on the side. "Is it necessary when you can clearly read my mind?" I answered. "For the record, I sometimes do not read your mind." "Sometimes." "What can I do if your words are all floating in the air, tempting me to read them?" A ghost of a smile can be sensed on his lips. I bite my lower lip. I know he won't let me out if I won't tell him what's bothering me, so I said all the things that I listed on my mind. "I think you're over complicating things," he commented after telling him everything. "You think too much of everyone. I know you're sensitive on what others will say even though you're saying you aren't... but if you will continue thinking this way, you will learn to live by it and will always find a reason to please others." My brows furrowed. A small grin appeared on his lips as he darted his intense and mocking eyes on me. "The only one you should please is mo other than me." His grin grew wider. I thought I would be pissed but then, i found myself grinning back at him. He pressed his forehead into mine. Not long after, My feet were lifted from the floor as he scooped the back of my knees and colliding our lips together. *** "I will be late, Connor..." I whispered. However, instead of removing his heavy limbs on top of me, he squeezed me harder. "Connor..." I tap his arm snaking around me just below my mounds. "I have a test, remember? I can't fail this because I already failed the test for the guardians. Based on the sun evidently rising from the outside, it's probably around 6 in the morning. Connor slightly moved. We are in our bed while he's spooning me from behind. He once again slept in my room. I am guessing it wouldn't take long before he'll ask me if he can transfer his clothes here in my closet. He lift his head and take a peek of me. He then rested his head back on the bed. I can feel his breath brushing against my neck. He then planted a soft kiss at the back of my head. "Connor..." I said in a warning tone when I sensed that he has no plans of freeing me from his hold. "Ugh!" the irritation is evident in his voice that it made me smile. Good thing my back is facing him. "Now I kind of regret imolementing that test. Should I just give you an excemption?" I hit his arm and pinch his tiny hair on the arm and pulled it. He flinched and quickly met me go. "Ouch," he said in a flat tone. I seat on the bed and looked at him. "You know you can't do that. And you shouldn't!" I stan don the bed. Connor forced himself to stand and followed me. He wrapped his arms around my waist and rested his chin on my shoulder. "Of course, I won't. I know you can pass the test without my help," he uttered. I turn on my back to face him. His hands stayed on the sides of my waist while my hands hooked on his nape. "Thank you," I whispered. I withdraw my habds from him and he let me. I grab the towel hanging on the handle of the door of my closet and went to the bathroom. I'm glad he did not follow me. I would be late if he'll do. I took a wuick warm bath and do my morning routine. When I stepped out of the shower, Connor isn't already in my room. I went downstairs and caught him placing plates and utensils on the table. "Morning!" he greeted as if he did not give me a morning kiss earlier. My eyes landed on the rib eye steak on the center table. There is also a buttered corn and soup on the sides. "You cooked these?" I said and slowly walk towards the table. He dragged my chair and motioned me to have a seat. "Who else will?" he answered. I rolled my eyes inwardly but a smile on my face keeps on appearing. "It can be the cook!" I answered. "I already fired him," he said in a serious tone. My jaw dropped. "What?" I asked with oure disbelief. "Kidding. I just transfered him on the executive homes. In Denette and Kristine's house." My brows furrowed. Connor scooped a spoonful of fried rice and put it onto my plate. He then scooped a soup and place it on the side of my plate. "Kristine went here earlier while you were upstairs." My brows arch. I pull the bowl of soup infront of me and pick up my spoon. "What did she say?" I asked. I tried my very best to not sound like I am too curious. I scoop a soup and place it enar my lips, wnough to give it a blow before sipping. "She was asking if she can have her room back. She said she was having a hard time there because she needs to cook for her and her mom, and that would affect her performance on the teat." I dropped the spoon. "She mean, she want to stay here?" I clarified. Connor nod. I scoffed. "Tell me you did not agree." "Of course, I did not. That would upset my princess," he answered casually. My cheeks heated. I feel like all the blood in my body tushed up to occupy my face. "Stop that." "Stop what," he innocently asked. I glance at him and I notice how a small grin flashed on his face in a swift second. I smiled and shake my head. I know I promised myself to keep this relationship to ourselves first, but who would not want to let everybody knows that this man is mine? I badly want to shout his name to the world right now. ----- Unedited. English is not my first language.
