Chapter 15 - Past
When Nicholas woke up, he was already in a cage, locked in like an animal while two men laughed at a program that was on the fattest TV that the little boy had ever seen in his life.
Still confused, he didn't know what was going on while he tried to call his father to no avail.
He was hours away from his Pack, and even if he was close to them, everything that happened while he was unconscious, blocked him from communicating with the others.
... Who would expect that they could be so cruel...
"Hey! Until when we need to keep looking after this mutt?" One of the men, the slimmest, asked the other as he ate a piece of his chicken drumstick, making Nicholas's stomach growl with hunger, even if the smell of the food was terribly greasy, unlike his Pack's healthy ones.
"Until they call us, and who knows when it'll happen." From the old armchair, the other man answered. "But for sure, I'm not going to argue about it while the woman keeps her word about don't try to kill me again."
Despite his relaxed figure in the chair, it was more than clear that he was yet afraid, and why wouldn't he be? He was just a simple human, an old hunter, and she was a Supernatural being.
"So let's just forget about it, I don't want to remember about them until they show up again." Turning around, he kept saying, allowing Nico to see better the face of the older man, who had gray hair and an unshaved beard. "And in any way, did you buy the things I asked for?"
"Yeah... I did, here." Handing the bag, the other hunter answered disinterestedly, taking another bite of his chicken as he went to a counter full of weapons and knives beside a stuffed deer which should have the man's height.
... Looking at the wall, he seemed to choose from the thousands of weapons that decorated that side of the place before picking up a knife, walking back towards Nicholas only to startle the pup when he passed the blade against the bars of the cage.
... A cruel smile dominated his face as he amused himself by seeing the little one hiding in the corner as much as he could...
And in that way, two days went by, being treated like a simple dog, the oldest son of the Alpha could only hope that his father would come to save him as soon as possible...
"Here, mutt. Your food." Opening a small door in the cage, the younger man spoke, giving him food in an old pot of ice cream, similar to the one with water that was inside with him.
Just by looking at the dog food, Nicholas didn't know how he had managed to eat it in the night before when he wasn't longer able to withstand his hunger.
The bucket of chicken that was next to the older Human was a thousand times more tempting to his stomach than the food that was served to him, making him cry for his parents before he shut up when he heard the yells of the men, complaining that he was disrupting their game.
Scared, Nico didn't know what to do until a familiar tune started to play on tv...
... That was his mother's favorite song, Don't Give Up by Peter Gabriel, she loved listening to that music every time she got sick, especially the chorus part...
Of course, Nicholas was yet too young to understand the meaning of the song, but it was enough for him to remember the words that the she-wolf always said to him.
"You are just as smartest as your father," Her voice echoed in his young mind as if Omega was beside him. "You really are the son of a true Alpha."
His heart seemed to fill with confidence as her voice seemed to grow louder like the music on the TV before the older man turned it off, saying there was nothing good going on.
"I'm the son of an Alpha..." Nicholas thought to himself, sitting in his cage. "I am the son of Coleman's Alpha..."
His eyes glowed brightly like the stars in the sky, proving that the pup was a future warrior for sure, a dominant wolf.
"No one will treat me like a dog!" Snarling at the Human who was there with him, his young mind couldn't think of the consequences that could happen to him.
"What is wrong, Mutt?" Standing from his chair, the old hunter spoke while his son was in the bathroom, sick from his poor choice of breakfast. "What do you think you can do from inside this cage?"
And as was to be expected, the pup just growled to him...However, the noise kept growing louder and louder, startling the man as Nicholas began to use his body to knock against the cage door until the old lock broke.
... A loud scream went through the old hut, hidden in the middle of the woods when Nico jumped on the man who fell when he saw the pup's eyes change color just like the ones from people who hired them before his son left the bathroom with his pants yet on his knee...
"Dad, it's running away!" The young hunter called out for his father, who was yet shaking on the floor before he tried to go after Nicholas, but it didn't take so long before he fell down because of his pants as the pup...
... Well... He kept running as fast as he had ever run in his life, ignoring hunger and thirst, as he fleed to a far as possible from there until his young body couldn't move anymore when tiredness overtook him, and the storm started.
"Hey, little guy. What are you doing here?" A voice said out of nowhere, and Nicholas hadn't even noticed that all that time, he was crying in between the garbage when a man with drenched clothes showed up before him.
And despite wanting to growl to him, something about the scent of that Human told Nico that he could trust him, so he let the kind man touch him, feeling, even more, the smell of family in the dirty shirt that he rolled him up in, making Nicholas just think...
That he was safe now.
