“Are you coming?” Adan asked. I followed him across the field, trying to mimic his steady pace. He walked just a foot in front of me, his eyes focused on the wet soil beneath us. “It is quite easy to track someone like this.” He told me. “You used to be really good at it.” “I don’t remember.” I shrugged. “You saved my life once when I got attacked back… there.” His voice tensed suddenly with the memory of the place to which we were exiled, the place that took everything from us. “You were a great fighter.” I shivered from the regret in his words. He sounded as if he mourned the girl he once loved, and I couldn’t decide if it was a good thing or not. I certainly wasn’t this girl anymore and it made me wonder if I could ever compare to Theresa, or Min, or whatever my real name actually
