Chapter 9 : Soul burning

“Are you sure, the pain is akin to have your soul ripped from your body and burned. You will feel everything even if you pass out!” Taryrre Said softly

“Do I have a choice? I can feel I am losing myself a little more every hour that passes. I thought my one true mate was another person a few hours ago. It needs to be done and there is no point in delaying” Jamie  said

“She is right, the longer we wait the weaker she will become” Stormbringer said.

“Is there anyway to stop my mates from feeling the pain?” Jamie asked. She didn’t want either Richard or Eric to feel any pain through their mate Mark.

“Yes, I can help with that child, but be warned it will increase your suffering. The Mate Mark is designed to share pain as well as joy” Icewing warned.

“Just do it please” Jamie said 

“Vanth?” Jamie mind-linked

“Ahead of you kid, I am going in the mind pocket. I am sorry can’t be there to help!” Vanth said

“It is fine, just stay safe” Jamie replied as she felt Vanth’s presence disappear.

“Right, let’s go to the soul door shall we?” Taryrre said and Jamie felt a rippling energy over her body and they all teleported to the Soul Door.

Jamie was surprised that she could see the Soul Door in her mind.  It was shaped like very tall door frame that was at least 30 meters high, with two large square blocks levitating in the air just below the top. The whole thing glow a soft white.

“What is this?” Jamie said. She could sense it was old, very old.

“A Soul Door that is able to temporarily separate the soul from it’s vessel. It was a gift from the Luna Goddess a couple of thousand years ago” Icewing explained

“Yes, at the time the Chaos Empress released a plague of Soul Parasites on the Dragon realm as part of the Great War. This saved our species and we Dragons are forever in the Goddess’s debt”  Stormbringer  explained.

“Is that why you are helping me?” Jamie said starting to feel strange.

“Partly, but we must get started! I sense the parasite is becoming aware of what we are doing” Taryrre said concerned.

“You are right daughter, the parasite is going to fight this” Icewing said as Jamie felt her being magically been pushed to a spot in the middle of the door frame. 

“Arms out and good luck Moon Child. I will dampen the affect on your Mates” Taryrre said gently.“Thank you” Jamie said as she held her arms out either side of her.

Icewing and Stormbringer started to talk in an Ancient  Dragon Language. The air was suddenly filled with magic and the door way started glowing silver. The two stones slowly came and stopped just above Jamie’s arms. Jamie felt herself been pulled up and her arms attached magically to the stones. Jamie felt been pulled high into the air. 

“I changed my mind! I don’t want to do this!” Jamie shouted as she started to struggle. Her body was suddenly filled with fear.

“Calm down, it is the parasite trying to stop being removed” Taryrre said as the wind picked up. The Soul Door hummed and Jamie felt her soul being ripped from her body. Instead of falling into unconscious as expected, she was hovering above her body. She could see for the first time the size and colour of the Dragons below. Taryrre was a large lilac dragon, Icewing was a light blue and Stormbringer was steel gray. 

“You are all so beautiful and majestic” Jamie said aloud. 

It was the last thought she had before she looked down and saw the black squid like creature with fangs biting into her chest. It’s long tentacles had wrapped round every part of her body including her neck.

The creature stopped sucking for a moment and said “why do this? Do I not  make you happy?”

Stormbringer reared up on his hind legs so that he was eye to eye with Jamie.

“Leave foul creature! Your presence pollutes this soul!” Stormbringer voice boomed

“No! This soul is mine!” The creature said and to prove it's point it tightened the tentacle around Jamie’s neck. This made her mortal body gasp.

“So be it creature!” Stormbringer said and before Jamie could blink a stream of Dragon fire engulfed her. Every inch of Jamie’s soul felt like it was been burnt to a crisp and she threw her head back and screamed into the star filled sky.

Richard was having a well earned beer with Edward and Harper in their war office. They had managed to get the room warm and beat back two attacks from Thule. The snow in the mountains had kept on falling making it much easier to keep Thule’s army at bay.

“Any word on the Princess?” Edward asked. He knew she was up to some sort of trouble, but had faith that Lux would keep her safe.

“No, I just wish she would let me in! She has become so secretive since becoming blind” Richard said

“It is because she feels like a burden and does not want to worry you” Harper said

“But it worries us more! Amon has been pacing in the back of my mind for days now, he knows something is wrong” Richard said sadly.

“She be alright!” Edward said 

Suddenly, Richard felt his whole body filled with a dulled pain and he fell on all fours. His mate mark was burning and Amon was fighting to take control as Richard roared in pain.

“Sweet Choas Richard! Are you OK?” Edward said coming over worried.

“Must help mate, she is in trouble!” Amon/Richard growled clawing at his mate mark.  For him to feel this amount of pain, she must be in serious trouble.

“If we don’t get him close to his mate, he will destroy everything he comes across. I can feel Amon losing it!” Dagon mind-linked Edward. Dagon was Edward’s demon and was normally right about these things.

“OK, OK! Harper take over, we be back as soon as we can. Do you know where Princess is Amon?” Edward asked.

“Zuy” Richard said gasping

“No, not going to ask why!” Edward said as he helped his friend up and opened up a portal. He stepped through with Richard to find they were on a desert island complete with palm trees and white sand. He was not surprised to see Eric there.

“Is this Zuy?” Edward asked and Eric shook his head.

“I guessing you are feeling it too?” Eric asked Richard. Richard nodded.

“So where are we?” Edward said

“Zuy has a magical barrier that can’t be destroyed, we are on an Island just to the west of Zuy’s mainland. Because the barrier is made of elemental magic, Arcane magic is ineffective” Eric said

“But Chaos is not! They will regret hurting our mate!” The deep voice of Amon boomed. Richard could not hold his demon back any longer and Amon had fully taken over. He leapt  into the air and threw a large chaos energy ball at the barrier. It rippled but stayed undamaged.

“Well they are going to know we are here at least” Edward said as he let Dagon take over. His skin turned blue and black runes formed on it. His horns grew as well as his claws and teeth. He jumped Into the air to make sure Amon did not destroy the mortal world.

Back in the Dragon’s realm, Jamie was still screaming along with the black creature. Some of it’s tentacles had been burnt off, but it was been stubborn. Stormbringer did not let up for a second and suddenly his flames turned the blue of God Fire. Jamie braced herself for the onslaught of pain as the creature finally screamed and burned away.

Stormbringer stopped the onslaught of flames and Icewing quickly ended the ritual. Jamie felt her soul been pulled back into her body. She regained reconnected to her body and the waves of pain rippled all over her. She was relieved to feel her feet back on the ground and her arms being released from the Soul Door.

“How are you feeling?” Taryrre Asked

“Like I am still burning, but surprisingly better!” Jamie said in a hoarse voice.

“You must rest of a few days” Icewing said

“Then you must learn to become a Weaver...it is important” Stormbringer said.  

Before Jamie could reply they all heard a loud booming noise.

“The barrier is being attacked!”Taryrre said shocked 

“More then that child, it is being destroyed. Which means Amon is finally here” Icewing said drily.

“Surely he can’t destroy it!” Taryrre Said

“He is a direct descendant of the high demon of destruction. So yes he can! But he is not going to, because we are going to give his mate back. Farewell  Moon child for now ” Stormbringer said 

“Thank you for everything” Jamie said

“We meet again soon!” Taryrre Said as Jamie felt a rippling sensation over her body. She suddenly felt sand beneath her feet and the sound of waves crashing on the shore. 

Jamie suddenly felt weak as she collapsed to her knees. She suddenly felt the worry, fear and anger that her mates felt. The feelings overwhelmed her and she began to cry. All she seem to do was worry them, even when it was the last thing she wanted to do. She heard another boom.

“Amon! Richard!” Jamie shouted as she tried to get to her feet and head towards the sound.

“Jamie? By the Goddess!” A familiar voice said

“Eric?! Eric is that you!” Jamie said as she felt herself being swept into his arms. She wrapped her arms round his neck and buried her face into his chest. “I love you so much” She kept repeating.

“I love you too fire sprite! But we better tell Amon you are here, he is going a bit mental!” Eric said. Jamie nodded and mind-linked Amon.

“I am here my love, it is alright” Jamie said. Before she even finished the message she heard two creatures land in the sand.

“Princess!” Amon said and Eric let her go do Amon could hold her. Amon pulled her into him and check her for injuries.

“You are hurt and drained. What happened?” Amon said worried.

Of course Amon would be able to see! Jamie cursed privately.

“Yes, I would like to know that as well Jamie and please don’t lie to us” Eric said.

“Oh it is nothing, I just had to get rid of a soul parasite by having a soul burning by some dragons” Jamie said dismissively.

“What?!?!” Amon and Eric roared in unison.

“Now don’t go over reacting!” Jamie said putting her hands on her hips.

“You better explain everything!” Eric said and Jamie sighed.
