A huge cement brick sinks slowly in the middle of the ocean pulling along a very bruised and pale women down the deep sea. At this moment she couldn't remember her swimming lessons or the fact that she had a scuba diving license nor did she want to try. She was still in shock and relieved at the same time, her best friend Karmen helped her escape from hell only to push her in the middle of the ocean out of nowhere. She looked up while she was sinking at her fiance Paul and best friend kissing each other. She had always known that something wasn't right with those two but pushed it aside as both of them were her childhood friends. She had enough to deal with and they were a huge help in the h*ll hole she was thrown in by a very terrible man. At this moment, death was her only escape. She couldn't go back to her abusive family and she certainly doesn't expect for her fiance to save her after what she had learned today. she accepted it and only wished that she wasn't so foolish in the next life if there was one. While Melissa closed her eyes and accepted her fate, she felt a burning sensation on her throat and looked up only to see that she was back in her familiar room. After a moment, she realized that she was in her maternal family home from when she was 16. It was the time her grandmother rescued her in when her father almost choked her to death. The old woman hadn't passed yet and was fighting to get the child out of that situation despite the fact that she couldn't take care of her in her situation. When she was young, she did everything to please her s******c father but he hated her very being and everything around her. He loathed her for whatever reason and she only found out on the day she died that he wasn't her biological father. He was the one that killed her mother during childbirth but i survived. Melissa sat there for a while and endured the pain since she couldn't go to the hospital. Both of the families knew what was going but didn't step out to help except her grandmother. They were so worried about their reputation instead of her and they were living on her property. It was their ploy from the very beginning. While still reminiscing about the passed, her mind drifted back to what Karmen said when she was a little conscious from the drugs they had given her. Although she had nothing to live on, she made the decision to find out everything about her existence and her misterious father. She remembered the picture Karmen showed her. She quickly remembered that her mother left her a copy of her Will in this room and got up weakly to look for it. After her grandmother died, her father had found the will and the letter her mother left behind in front of her. It was only when she was 25 that she knew that her mother had left everything to her and already picked a guardian for her in case anything happens to her. After locking the door to prevent intruders for example her aunt who would bully her at any chance she gets when her great grandma wasn't looking or wasn't here. She went to the exact place her father looked since this was her mother's room before she got married and GG never allowed anyone in except for her. Great Grandma insisted that only i was allowed in there and I'm forever grateful for that. After looking for a few minutes, she found it. A brown envelope with butterfly decorations on top of it. She never really understood her mother's obsession with butterflies but now they just remind me of her. Everything she know of her is in pictures or stories her GG always told her when she was a child. She sat down and opened it, the first thing saw when she opened it wasn't the Will but the letter. Tears fell as she continued reading the letter, the thing that caught her attention is that her father is an amazing man from her mother's description of and they were married but he doesn't know her pregnancy. It doesn't mention a name or any clue in regards to his identity. There was another letter next to the Will with a name and a telephone number. She opened her will and that's when she realized that everything her family claimed was theirs actually belonged to her. The properties they were living in were hers and thanks to her mother, the money was hidden in an offshore account and can only be taken out by her which means her fake father only has access 2% of the property only at the moment as a self employed guardian. She checked and the guardian actually had the same surname as her. She was given my mom's maiden name after birth to which I'm thankful for or else i would have killed myself if i was given that man's name. She fetched her cellphone and input a lot of weird numbers that her GG wouldn't understand and added the number of her guardian and called him. He picked up and almost hanged up when he heard her surname but stopped when she mentioned her mother Tamera. She explained to him about the will and her situation at her home breathlessly because of the pain on her neck. She told him the fact that he was placed as her guardian on the Will and that she had no one else to call. Timothy Duncan was silently crying on the other side of the world when he heard that his sister placed his niece to him but his family kept it from him and what his niece had gone through. He was chased away from the funeral by his father and elder sister and now he knows why. He immediately gave instructions to Melissa to pack an emergency bag along with her important belongings and a friend will pick her up in 10 minutes. He called his lawyers after hanging up and told them about the situation and booked a plane ticket to see his niece. He also called the Mayor who was his friend for help and his best friend who was also the police chief to pick up Melissa. Melissa did as told and packed up a few clothes and toiletries not knowing where she was going. She also took all the important things that belonged to her mother and hid the rest in a hidden drawer that no one else knows about except for Paul who she later told when she was 25. It was pretty hard to locate and needed a combination which she later dicified when she was twenty. She was in so much pain doing this. There was nothing in here that belonged to her and she will get it back since this house belongs to her. She left a little note since her grandmother will come in here an hour from now telling that she was okay and needed some air. Thanks to her aunt who always terrorized her whenever she was here, she knows every exit and blind spots. A few minutes later, a call came in from the police chief who was there and she gave him her location. A black low key car parked in front of her and she got in not long after.
