Chapter 5

2504 Words
I'm alone down here. I figure they take the girls to sleep somewhere else. Or maybe they are just having a bit of a slow time. Every business goes through it, so a slave house does too, probably. It's been a while now. It's strange how when you are in the dark you can't tell mere minutes from hours or days. Now I understand why vampires don't mind time, why forever isn't that long for them. It's because they spend their lives in the dark, so what years are for us could feel like days for them. Jup, I have absolutely nothing else to think about, simply because I have a suckish life. I can't think about anything without getting sad and I don't want to spend my life -what is left of it- being sad. Urg I can't take this anymore. I don't think I have been this alone since I've been kidnapped. And I can hear the shuffling from above. They have been busy today or tonight ... Urg whatever. Okay, I'm just irritated because I need the bathroom really badly. When I was at Madam Fiona's I had learned to control this but it was a lot easier. When she starved me I got use to it and I had a lot less to drink, but since I've lived with Dillan I lost all that control and I was at a social thing where we had a lot of wine and a variety of cool drinks. So I'm ready to blow. I'll give them a few more minutes. Okay, times up I NEED a bathroom. "Hello!" "Anybody!" Nothing and I've been screaming at the top of my lungs for like forever. I lay down closing my eyes thinking about anything, but a toilet, but as my eyes closed, all I could see was Felix and how the life left his green eyes at the same time as his heart did. My eyes flew open at the same time as the door did. I saw Rufus coming down the steps. "Usually the girls are quiet down here hoping that we will forget them. Why can't you be like them?" "Because I need to pee!" He started laughing so hard that he had to hold on to the cell bars for support. "Okay, come on then." He opened the door, still laughing a bit. I just rolled my eyes at him. We walked up the steps and out the door. Everyone was staring at me. It was really uncomfortable. I looked down at myself, remembering what I was wearing. I look like a total slut. I was still just wearing one of Dillan's shirt over my skimpy nighty. Rufus took me to the toilet and waited outside. When I got out, I felt so much better. "You are too happy for someone that is going to be sold!" Rufus commented as we walked through the maze-like halls. This is the perfect place for a slave house. No one will ever escape and they have a lot of guards everywhere. "Well I was thinking..." "Humans thinking is never a good idea." When did humans get such a bad rep? "Whatever... Back to what I was saying. I was thinking why don't you just buy me this time." He looked a bit taken by surprise. "It's just I know you wanted to buy me last time and we get along and I know you're not a bad person. Maybe a horny pervert, but I can handle that." I was hopeful, but if he took me at least I'd know what to expect. He suddenly stopped backing me into a wall. "No." Wow what an answer. "Why not?" Yes, I'm afraid as hell. I would rather he an egotistical, horny, pervert buy me before I go to a stranger like Dillan ever again. "Because I almost killed you last night by only talking about blood. I can't control myself around humans. Handling them here at work is fine, but if someone like you with a sweet scent like yours lives within my house, I'd go crazy within minutes. And I wouldn't be able to live with myself if I killed someone as beautiful as you." He stroked my cheek during his last few words. "But you would let someone else buy me and kill me!" I was angry because he felt safe to me. I'm tired of suffering. "Yes, because then it wouldn't be I that killed you!" He hissed at me. "I'd still be dead!" "But I won't have your death on my conscious." "If you want to be an honest man, why don't you just let me go?" "I can't lose my job." "I thought all vampires were rich." "Most are, because they save up throughout the year or steal. Many of them obtain great knowledge, causing them to become billionaires. But I have never been one to save, I was one to spend. And I'm not poor, but still I have to start saving." "Why?" "I have a daughter to take care of, okay." "I can be her babysitter and take care of her for you?’ He rolled his eyes at me. "Fine!" I gave in, he wasn't going to change his mind anyway. We had more of a brother-sister relationship. Well, that is how I saw him. I’m sure he saw me in different ways: like a bloody steak or a sexy vixen. He closed his eyes, taking a deep breath. "Let's just go before your heart races anymore." I pushed him away and started walking but stopped when our hall split into three. "I guess I can do my job now." He rolled his eyes before grabbing my arm and pulling me along with him. Why is it always the arm! "So what is going to happen to me now?" "I'm not sure I'm going to take you to Patrick and he'll decide." "And who is Patrick?" "The boss." We came to the door I know so well. The girl was sitting at her desk just like the time Madam Fiona brought me here. The girl nodded at Rufus. I think she likes him, she blushed just now. Rufus opened the door, dragging me inside. "Here she is as you asked." He told the old guy I now knew was Patrick. "What took so long?" I've never heard the old guy's voice so harsh. He was staring at Rufus and I felt bad since it was my fault. "I needed to use the bathroom." I tried smiling at him, but he only turned his staring at me. "I would never have guessed that you came from the Fiona slave academy. You lack obedience. What is rule number one slave?" Oh I hate that word so much. There is a reason why there aren't any slaves anymore. Everyone is supposed to be equal in our democratic world and why is it that vampires think they are so much greater than humans? "Slave I'm talking to you!" I wish I was in that chair ordering him and not the other way around. I kept holding my mouth shut by chewing on the inside of my cheek and then lips. "You will answer me now!" The windows in his room were vibrating from how hard he was yelling. And with the windows my body shook out of fear. That's how the words slipped through my mouth. "Only talk when you have been talked too... Sir." After I had let it slip, I clenched my teeth together. "Oh so you were trained, good to know." I heard Rufus laughing, so I sent a scowl his way. He walked to the back wall, leaning against it. "So I got word of Dillan this morning." I nodded, already knowing where this was heading. "The house wasn't burned to the ground. It was put out actually really quick." Well I didn't expect that. Candice must be furious since there may be evidence against her. "He was stabbed directly once in the heart." He could see it wasn't a surprise to me. "Didn't you say the rouges did this or was that a lie to cover up that you killed him?" "I never said all the rouges were in their wolf forms." "Also true, he clearly had marks of a fight on him even if it was near to none. I know you didn't kill him." Good to know. "I know that because your bodyguards' heart was ripped out." "How do you know that Dillan didn't rip out his heart and I got angry and stabbed him with a dagger that Fel- my bodyguard gave me?" "Because the diameter of the whole where his heart was ripped out of was to small to have been a males." Okay I didn't have anything to say to that, well nothing I could unless I wanted Candice to find me and kill me. "The hole was about the size of your hand, it's a good thing you aren't strong enough to do that or else you would be executed. Killing vampires or werewolves is a punishable crime." and yet killing humans is okay "And why would you kill the guy that gave you such a luxurious life?" Rufus added. "People never know what happens behind closed doors." Everyone was quiet about my remark. "So what is going to happen now?" I asked to break the silence. "Since nothing incriminates you, I get to sell you. You'll go through the assessment and change your clothes - your room wasn't touched by the fire - and then I’ll sell you tonight." "Matt!" Matt appeared through the door. I stood up and walked over to him. He didn't even look at me. He just gestured for me to follow. I walked into the room where he assessed the people. It was clean, like really clean. It reminds me of a doctor's office or a lab. I saw the chair I sat on the last time and took my seat holding out my right arm. I wonder how many people have sat on this chair. "So you have been here before?" "Yes, can't you remember me? Most of the others do." "Not really. Humans all look the same to me. I'm in too much of a hurry to notice the small differences." "Dillan bought me and I ran into your arms begging you not to let him take me." "Oh yeah, now I remember you. That doesn't happen that often, because most slaves we have are broken in they know how to behave." He pulled the blood from my arm, giving me a cotton ball. "You had curled hair then." "Yeah I did." "Why did you change it?" "It wasn't my choice. Dillan bought me because I looked like his ah... Dead mate." I grabbed the photo from my bra and handed it to him. I always had to have a photo with me to remind me of how I should look. "She could be your older sister." I nodded. He handed it back to me. "Do you still only have that one scar and birthmark?" "No, he made me cover them both with tattoos because she didn't have them." I handed him my arm. He looked at it and up at my eyes. His brown eyes didn't give away a thing. "Okay, so are these the only marks on your body?" I bit my lip, looking down at the floor and then back into his brown eyes. "No, not really." He sighed. "Where and how many marks are there? That includes scars, blemishes and tattoos." "I'm not sure, I sometimes don't notice getting hurt." I stood up, pulling off the shirt and then my dress. "I'm sorry, but this is the only way. I'm glad you didn't make me ask you." Matt said. "It's fine, I’m use to it. Dillan would have surprise inspections of my body. He wanted to see if anyone touched me in any way. He was thorough." He looked into my eyes again, but looked at my body when he saw I was watching him back. "Okay, so it's four tattoos I can see, is that right?" "Yes." "Okay, and then there is the scar on your back and the one on your arm and the new cut on your leg. I can't see anything else." I quickly pulled my dress back on. "There is one more..." "Where is that?" "At the back of my neck. It's always concealed by my hair." "Okay, do you have any disabilities?" "No." "What is your age?" "I'll be 19 in a month." "I seem to have everything I need." "You didn't ask me if I'm a virgin?" "You are defiantly more outspoken than you were last time." "I'm still a virgin." That really shocked him out of his socks. "I'm sorry with everything you told me and with what you are wearing..." "He wanted to wait until he turned and mated me." His head snapped up again. He quickly looked away, grabbing the two papers. "Come on then." He started walking to the door. I grabbed Dillan's shirt and pulled it over my head. I ran after Matt. Rufus and Patrick were still in the same positions they were when I left. They both looked at me with a bit of sympathy. "Here is her info for the sale and for her file." "Oh yeah she doesn't have a file. We need to set up a new one." "Now you tell me." Matt mumbled. After that, we went into full swirl. He asked me everything from my capture to my clothes and shoe size. I was glad when Rufus finally got to escort me to the bathroom again so that I could get dressed. I went through the bag he handed me. I searched for the least revealing outfit I could get. It ended up being tight skinny black jeans with a light grey top that came down low in front and sat tight against my stomach. It ended just over my belt loops. At least it was a long sleeve top. I’m not showing any unnecessary skin. I only had heels in this bag so I went with my black pumps. I walked out of the bathroom seeing that Rufus was leaning on the wall again. I wonder if he ever stands up straight for longer than 5 minutes. "Why are you smiling like that?" "Oh, I was just thinking about something." "Okay then let's get you back to the cells." "Rufus, I thought vampires didn't care about anything human." "We don't." "But I saw sympathy in your and Patrick's eyes when I was done with my assessment." "We have sympathy for werewolf victims." That explained a lot. We walked down the stairs and he opened the cell door for me. By now there were other girls too. "I'll see you tonight for the last time," He exclaimed. "Hey, maybe I'll surprise you and find my way back here again." He laughed before leaving.
