LIONEL'S POV “The king will see you now.” The guard said. I turned around, the giant doors of the hall of moon, where the Alpha Tristan Frost and council planned for another attack; was opened for me. I strode In, the creek of the door loudly announcing my entrance. Everyone looked my way. I bowed immediately, I was close enough. “Long live Alpha Tristan Frost, King of the werewolves.” I greeted. “Rise Lionel,” the king said. I lifted my head and faced him. “How was your trip to the human world,” I frowned slightly. 'He knows. Of Course he knows, does anything ever escape him' “Splendid. I even met some very nice people. But the nicest always remain those who tag along with me everywhere I go.” I smiled sarcastically. His expression dulled. “You are aware that words will not make your situation any less terrible.” He said, looking directly at me. “I don't know about that but I do know that I intend to use them to make it worse.” He raised an eyebrow. I heaved, closed my eyes a little and knelt down. Mummers rang across the hall immediately. I didn't raise my head to see who spoke. “What is the meaning of this?” The king asked me but not with the right amount of concern in his voice. “I have a request and I cannot make it. I can only beg for It.” I bet there was a pleasant grin on his face right now. “Go on.” “When I was in the human world, I got a little too friendly with a human girl.” I paused searching for the best way to continue. Before I could, the king erupted in laughter. The whole council followed. I squeezed the hem of my garment hiding my cascading anger. It took them almost five minutes to quiet down. “So you slept with a human girl. What's there to that? You are among the many who are guilty of such.” He chuckled a little. “My guess is you already know that, so; why are you kneeling down?” “I have marked the girl.” I heard the throne shake as father rose to his feet, the gasps of councilman in the hall playing to the tune of his anger. They all stared wide eyed at me “You did what?” “My wolf connected with her, I too, can not understand why but I do know that my mate has been chosen and I want to…” “Are you even listening to yourself. Prince Lionel, first born son of an Alpha, Heir to my throne will make a worthless human his Luna.” I did not say anything. “You will go to the priestess and have it revoked.” “Father…” I rose my head immediately. “Do you know what a Luna is? Do you think she is a mere creature that warms your bed? A Luna is the stronghold of your kingdom. An emblem of beauty, wit and charm. I agreed when you said you wanted to choose a mate because you feared that your chosen mate would not be good enough but if you think I will agree to this, then you, my son, have a lot to learn about your father and your kingdom.” I breathed, rose to my feet and dusted my knees. “As expected you will not grant my request. Well to be honest I did not want your consent because I needed it. I will bring the human here whether it pleases you, father or not.” “You little…” “And if you try to stop me,” I cut him short, raising my voice. “You will have to end my life before I yield. A wolf who doesn't know how to fight for what he wants cannot be king, isn't that what you taught me, father?” The king heaved heavily, glaring at me. I bowed lightly, turned and headed down the hall. “A human mate.” The king chuckled. I halted. “Of all the beings that you ought to distrust, humans are at the top of that list. I hope this girl is worth every effort you are putting into her.” I said nothing, continuing my walk out of the hall. I had gotten what I wanted. Next stop was the human world. Am sure Daniella would be happy to see me. …… “She what?” I stared hard at him. “She is gone. Pay attention, big guy.” The skinny fair boy puffed his smoke near my face. “Where did she go?” I clenched my fist and asked politely. “What do we look like, her guardian angels?” He mad fluttering bird signs In the air. “The b***h fled to God knows where.” “b***h?” I gave him a direct look. “Yh and an ungrateful one too. How can she leave her brothers to starve.” A skinnier boy dropped out from the stairs. He spat on the ground and I shuddered in disgust. “I will leave now,” I rose immediately and made for the door. “Yh and don't come back here asking about that b***h again.” I stopped, turned and took another good look at them. “Stop calling her a bitch.” I said and made to turn. “Or what big guy. You are gonna make me pie my pants,” the two of them started laughing at the funny way the skinny one said it. I waved my head. “You live in a secluded place. This house has not been cleaned for days and neither has anybody you showered, which means… you have been in this house so long that no one will notice if you are gone.” “Wat the f**k is he talking about.” My claws grew out immediately. The skinny boy scurried out of his seat immediately but it was too late for them. They had already upset me. I walked out of the house, my black coat wet from their blood. I wiped my claws in the coat and threw it into the house. I breathe. 'I can't believe she is gone. I told her to wait but she left. I should have known, she was a good digger. Just like her siblings. I can't believe I mated with a prostitute and actually believed her when she said she was doing it for her family.’ My fist shuddered in anger, I growled throwing a punch in the air, the wave blew up the barn house, it turned over and crashed onto the farm floor. I hate humans. I hate my emotions. Father was right; sentiment is not important for success.
