Chapter 4

1046 Words
Dragonclaw glared at Justin. "I heard you took down Scarface. You've got guts, punk. Now you have two options: either you cut off your hands or I'll kill you!" With that, he stomped on the ground, cracking the cement beneath him. The crowd gasped, a chill running down their spines. Dragonclaw was the leader of the Darkvipers. Once a mercenary, his twisted hobby was dismembering enemies and drinking a glass of fresh human blood each morning. Several dark web videos showed his cruel, bloody methods, making him the most notorious killer in the underworld. "Now that Dragonclaw's here, Justin is so dead," someone in the crowd whispered nervously. Hearing that Justin would die soon, Emma sneered, "Justin, Dragonclaw leads the Darkvipers. He's strong enough to take down ten men at once, and he's extremely cruel. So, stop being so cocky. You're gonna die!" "Yeah, you didn't think you'd end up like this, right? I'm glad to see Dragonclaw tear you apart, you bastard!" Ava added, her voice gloating. Justin smirked, "Is Dragonclaw really that untouchable?" "Hmph! You have no idea how many people I've killed, punk. How dare you underestimate me? I'll break your limbs and make you wish you were dead!" Dragonclaw charged forward, aiming a brutal punch at Justin's face. Sensing the fury in Dragonclaw's attack, everyone backed away in fear, sure Justin was finished. Their eyes were glued to the scene, not wanting to miss a moment. Justin's expression turned cold as he clenched his fist, releasing a wave of energy that ordinary people couldn't see. Just as they were about to fight, a Porsche sped in, and a woman leaned out, shouting, "Stop!" The shout caught everyone's attention, halting Dragonclaw's fist in mid-air. He turned to see a young blonde woman dressed in a long gown stepping out of the car. Emma's face darkened as she saw people turn their attention to the woman. She said coldly, "Who are you to meddle with the Flores family's business? Are you seeking death?" "So what? Justin is a distinguished guest of the Nolan family. If you do anything to him today, you'll be in big trouble!" Audrey declared confidently, giving the furious Emma a contemptuous smile. Emma stepped forward to teach Audrey a lesson, but Daniel grabbed her arm, whispering, "Stop making trouble. She's Audrey Nolan, one of the Four Beauties and the granddaughter of Cillian Nolan from Violetgem Group, the richest man in Riverwood." 'What?' The crowd gaped in shock, realizing she wasn't just a pretty face but also had serious influence. Cillian was the wealthiest philanthropist and businessman in Riverwood, and they couldn't believe that Justin, who was once a criminal, was a distinguished guest of this family. If they hadn't heard Audrey say it, they would never believe it. Emma was stunned. 'How did Justin, a criminal, become a distinguished guest of such a wealthy family?' Daniel frowned, confused. "How could Justin be a guest of the Nolans? Are you sure you haven't mistaken him for someone else, Ms. Nolan?" "I'm not blind. Look at you. You're going to marry Emma, a country bumpkin. So what's wrong with Justin being my family's distinguished guest?" Audrey countered, her words shutting down the argument effortlessly. Daniel hesitated, wanting to speak but holding back. Audrey glanced over at Justin. "You alright? I'm really sorry for almost hitting you earlier." Justin had predicted the car accident successfully, so Audrey softened her attitude toward him a little. Still, if it weren't for her grandfather's insistence on finding him, she'd never have shown up. Justin frowned slightly. "I'm fine. I guess my prediction about the car accident turned out to be right." "I don't know if you just got lucky or really have a knack for future prediction, but the accident freaked me out. I almost died just now!" Audrey shivered at the memory of the car crash. "Car accident?" Everyone realized Justin wasn't connected to the wealthy Nolan family at all. He was just a fool who almost got hit by a car. "If such a criminal shows up at Mr. Nolan's house, he will find this guy disgusting," someone remarked. When Emma found out Justin wasn't linked to the Nolan family, she felt more at ease. She couldn't hide her satisfaction. "I knew it. This guy is just a criminal. How could he possibly be a guest of the Nolan family? Turns out he got hit by Ms. Nolan's car, and she's doing this out of guilt. Forget her. Just get Justin out of here!" Daniel caught on and shouted, "Dragonclaw, get him!" At his command, Dragonclaw stepped forward, closing the gap, ready to teach Justin a lesson. Everyone was eagerly anticipating the sight of Justin getting beaten and humiliated by Dragonclaw. Audrey spun toward Daniel, her expression cold as she shouted, "Daniel, lay a finger on him, and you'll regret it. Maybe others fear the Anderson family, but I don't. If you're up for a fight, let's have it!" "Audrey, are you going against the Anderson family?" Daniel snarled. "I don't want to do this, but my grandfather asked me to invite him. Whoever hurts him makes an enemy of the Nolan family," Audrey declared, firm and unwavering despite her calm tone. Yet, she knew full well that defying the Andersons wouldn't bring her any gain. Daniel's eyes narrowed as he glared at Audrey, baffled by the Nolan family's determination to protect Justin. He understood it wasn't worth clashing with the Nolan family over Justin. The Nolans were the top family in Riverwood, with immense wealth, influential connections, and stakes in numerous high-end industries. Crossing them could easily ruin many companies in Riverwood. It was a fight he'd surely lose. Yet, leaving Justin alive posed a threat. Five years ago, Daniel was the one who had Justin imprisoned and even broke his legs. Now that Justin was out, aware of Daniel's affair with Emma, it was only a matter of time before Justin sought revenge unless dealt with. After all, Scarface from the Darkvipers had strong combat skills, yet Justin cut off his hand easily. Justin must have been through a lot during his years in prison. Letting Justin go was risky, but engaging in a conflict with the Nolan family might be riskier.
