The Ambush

Jax and his warriors quickly marched to the designated ambush location,he was surprised by the speed at which they moved. Despite being on foot, as they were nearly as fast as those riding horses. Jax attributed this to the fact that they were spawned by the system, so they didn't experience fatigue like normal soldiers, when marching. After a long march, they stealthily positioned themselves in the bushes, with the sss Archer Queen staying by Jax's side. Even though Jax insisted that he was capable of fighting alone, Connor refused to leave his side unless Jax allowed the Archer Queen to protect him. This surprised Jax, as it was the first time Connor had defied his orders. Connor explained that in war, he was the commander and only took orders that related to achieving victory. However, in the kingdom, Jax was the king, and if he deemed Connor's attitude unworthy, he had the right to punish him after the war. After hearing this, Jax couldn't bring himself to blame or punish his loyal hero. After all, Connor had been his guardian long before the Archer Queen was spawned. So, he followed Connor's orders. After waiting for about an hour, as the soldiers were starting to lose focus, a voice brought them back to full seriousness. Connor said, "Hide properly, the prey is approaching the trap." The barbarian soldiers quickly blended back into the grass and bushes While on the other side of the road, the Archer Queen and her archers, along with another hundred barbarian soldiers, who acted as their shield in case any of the Orcs attempted to attack the archers, when battle begin, waited . Although the barbarian soldiers were not experts in stealth, the bushy area made it easier for them to hide. Ten minutes later, Jax heard the sounds of marching and growls as the Orcs, riding on their wolf mounts, began to pass the main road. He quietly waited, planning to use all his strength to kill them here. If Plan A failed, he already had a backup Plan , as he had left enough spirit coins with the counter lady to recruit additional soldiers. Another group of soldiers could be dispatched to replace any losses in this battle. As the operator of the barracks, she could monitor the number of soldiers remaining and replenish them at Jax's kingdom if necessary while he and his two heroes returned back to the town. this plan revolves around reducing the number of Orcs in the event of a failed ambush, Jax hoped to exhaust them, making it easier to defeat them when they faced the second set of soldiers. After going through one battle and chasing him and his two heroes. hhe knew they would be too fatigued to mount a strong defense against the second round of energetic barbarian soldiers. thia was his second plan, his Plan B, which he hadn't even shared with Connor. It was a contingency in case their original plan didn't pan out. It wasn't that he didn't believe in their plan; he simply wanted to be prepared for any outcome, like a professional gamer always ready for whatever challenges arose. This strategic thinking had always kept him one step ahead, as he had a backup plan for every move he made. Finally, the Orcs reached the road where the ambush was set to take place, and Jax's nerves were on edge, his forehead damp with sweat. His fists clenched tightly as he anxiously waited for Connor's order. Though only a few seconds had passed, it felt like hours. The leading Orc, riding at the head of the group, wore a crown on his head, signifying his status as the troop's king. Being a Peak Tier 2 Orc warrior, it was no surprise that the king was the strongest among them. Unlike human kings who could inherit their kingdoms, Orcs followed rituals that determined the worthiness of a warrior to become their king. Jax became increasingly concerned that Connor had not yet called for the attack, and the Orcs were almost passing there sneaking formation range. He turned to the Archer Queen, seeking answers. "What's happening? I thought we were supposed to surround them, to sandwich them in the middle. Why is Connor letting them go?" Jax questioned the Archer Queen, his voice filled with unease. "I don't know why he decided to let them pass, but maybe he thought we had a better chance attacking from behind," "I may not understand why he changed the plans, but I trust his instincts in battle, Barbarians may be brutes, but the strongest among them possess an instinct, that makes them a kind of natural Born commander" the Archer Queen whispered, revealing her insight. "They can change the course of any battle with their perception of energy flow. That's why they are called instinct warriors," she explained further. Just as Jax was about to ask another question, Connor's voice rang out from the other side, commanding the attack. "All remaining barbarian soldiers, attack! Archers, support us from the right!" Connor's order punctuated the tense moment. With a loud battle cry, the barbarian soldiers emerged from their hidden positions, catching the Orcs off guard. " humansss .... Kill them all!" The leading Orc, regaining his composure, shouted the order to his troops. However, as soon as the Orcs clashed with the barbarians, the Orc King's eyes nearly bulged out of his sockets. The barbarians' sword strikes were swift and deadly, resulting in instant death for the Orcs. But it didn't stop there - the barbarians utilized every part of their bodies as weapons. There were no flashy Qi sparks, just sheer physical power pulverizing the Orcs. Jax observed in awe, realizing that he had underestimated the power of the Two Stars soldiers with their Barbarian bloodline. These Two Stars soldiers were not to be taken lightly; they were on par with Tier 2 warriors. While they couldn't surpass their realm and fight higher realm in a one v one battle like the heroes, they seemed invincible within the Tier 2 realm, as no one could contend with them. Looking at Connor, Jax finally understood why he wanted to attack the Orcs from the back. It made it nearly impossible for the Orcs to adapt and defend. With the three Tier 2 Orcs at the front, none of the Orcs at the back could withstand the onslaught of the Two Stars Barbarians. Jax even began to question if the Orcs at the front could defend against the barbarians, as they were in the same realm.
