CHAPTER 32: FINDING HIS ESTRANGED MOTHER

Queen Erika walked back and forth in her and the king's receiving hall, trying to calm down. Her shadows have not returned yet. She could not relax while they were not yet back.

"Your Highness, I lost the prince," one of the soldiers said. "I watched them during their training but something happened in school that made everyone run towards me. I was pushed by those students while they were running. There seemed to be a commotion in the training field but I did not see it."
ㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤ
The queen stopped walking and thought about it. "Something happened in school?"
ㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤ
"The sky turned dark before the commotion started.
ㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤ
She cussed harder and kicked the nearest gutter on her feet. When she lifted her face with anger, a brilliant idea suddenly popped in her mind. "I need to talk to Jed, now," she whispered.

"Your Highness?" the soldier asked.
ㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤ
"You may leave, now." The queen waved her hand to dismiss him. The soldier bowed before walking out of the hall.

She immediately popped her black cloak and disappeared.

The queen felt the ground shaking while she was walking out of the castle. She smirked. She knows the cause of the imbalance and the disturbances in Fantazija.

She used he black magic to teleport going to Jed's hotel room, but he was not there. "Where is that kid?" She stomped her foot out of frustration. She walked out of the hotel building and no one noticed her because of her magic black cloak. She walked on the street, hoping to see Jed, but she could not see him. She went towards the school's direction.
ㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤ
While she was walking, she heard the gossip of the bystanders. Their topic made her wanted to stop for a moment and listen to them.
ㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤ
"Did you know that something happened in the academy?" one of the fruit sellers said.
ㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤ
"What happened?" the bystander replied. He was sitting on the pavement while cracking nutshells using his teeth.

Queen Erika stopped in front of a stall beside the stall of the fruit seller. She was still invisible. She didn't want to catch any attention because she forgot to change her queen ball dress. "Now I am a gossip queen," she said to herself.
ㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤ
"According to my son, there was this huge, scary darkness above the school, then three huge shadows appeared from it." She gestured her arms and drew circles in the air. "Then he did not know what happened next. The crowd pushed him out while students were running away."

"That was scary!" the bystander said. "Glad my daughter skipped her classes today!"

"I told my son to learn more and improve his magic. He needs it to defend himself. The dark forces are just around, you know." The bystander popped peanuts into his mouth.

Queen Erika left them. He needs to find Jed as soon as possible to know what happened in school.

"Where are you, Jed!" The queen felt frustrated while searching for him. "I'm sure those are my shadows. What happened to them? Is that woman just around here?" She continued searching but she could not find Jed.
ㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤ
Meanwhile, Jed was also searching for his mother. He did not attend their combat training class. Their leader said his mother was in the capital and already married to someone else. The only name he knew was Rica, a sewer from a store named Zippin. He roamed around the capital to ask about the store and the woman named Rica, but no one knows the shop nor the woman.

He wasn't sure where to start finding his mother.

He was about to go back to school when he heard some students walking past him.

"That was so scary. Those were huge shadows that could eat ten kids in one go," one of the male students said.

"I almost peed in my pants," the other male student replied.
ㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤ
"Excuse me," he called their attention. "What happened in school?"
ㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤ
"Oh you missed it?" the fat student said. "There was an attack from huge shadows. We thought we would all die there. Glad the new instructor Master Ken was there. We need to go home. The classes were suspended and will not resume until further notice." The three students waved their hands and left him.
ㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤ
He quickly walked back to the school to find out what happened. He was so busy finding his mother and missed the commotion in school. "Was it from the Supreme's command? I did not know they had a plan to attack the school. I thought we need to lie low for the meantime?"

He was murmuring while walking when he heard his name being called.

"Jed... Jed!" the queen called him. She was hiding behind the corner of a tight alley.

"What are you doing here?" He walked towards her. "Why are you out here wearing your queenly gown?"

"That's not important now. What happened in school?" the queen asked.

"I don't know. " He shrugged his shoulders.
ㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤ
"What? You are in that school to be the eye. Why don't you know?" the queen's anger meter rose up.
ㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤ
"I was out the whole day. I was looking for someone," he replied. "Who are you looking for?"

"My mother," he said. "I was searching for her since morning."
ㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤ
The queen could not speak a word. She gulped before speaking again. "Do that some other time. Find out what really happened in school."
ㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤ
"Did you do it?" he asked.
ㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤ
"Yes, I did. Now, go! I need to know who they attacked." She waved her hand to dismiss him.

"Damn. Supreme Reji said to lie low. Why did you attack the school?" He shook his head.

"I didn't know they would attack the school. It wasn't my intention. Just go and find out what really happened and who they attacked. Leave!"

She held the cloak's hoodie and placed it on her head. She quickly disappeared. "Leave," she repeated before walking away.

Jed just sighed and shook his head. "What a troublemaker, and she's the queen." He placed his hands inside the pocket of his pants and walked back to school.

"I wonder where the others are. Are they okay?" Czarina's face immediately crossed his mind. He shook his head. "It's not the time to admire any woman."
ㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤ
He returned to the campus and started scanning the area to find Czarina and her friends. HE tried asking some of the students about what happened but their stories were inconsistent and not believable.
ㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤㅤ
He waked towards the dining hall to see if they are having a snack, but he could not find them there either. It made him feel furious and his patience was starting to fade. He decided to proceed to Principal Smaj. He thought he could probably ask the man and get a juicy information about what happened earlier.

He put his hands into his pocket and walked out of the dinging hall. He lowered his head to avoid getting attention from other students. He reached the hallway going to the principal's office. He saw Master Kenjie outside the principal's room.

"What is he doing there? Did something happen earlier?" he asked himself.
