CHAPTER 25: THE QUEEN AND JED

1537 Words
Queen Erika walked back and forth in her room. There is something bothering her but she could not explain it. "Was it Kev?" she asked herself. She knows Kev has the potential to become powerful and a threat to the throne—which he will never allow to happen. "I really felt something in the dining area." earlier. She bit her finger and kept walking. "No, I can't just sit back and do nothing. I need to find out." She took her cover up with a hoodie and placed it on her head. She opened her hand and a black cloak appeared. She quickly wore it and then she suddenly disappeared. The cloak sent her in the middle of the capital, near the hostels area. She took off the cloak and kept it in her storage ring. She walked inside of the hostels and no one recognized her. "Is Jed in his room?" she asked the receptionist. "Yes, Miss. he just went back. May I know who you are?" the lady asked. "I am his aunt. May I go to his unit now?" She is losing her temper, but needs to blend in. No one should recognize her as the queen of the Zariste Kingdom. "Yes, you may go ahead." The receptionist pointed to the stairs. She went to the second floor and walked towards the end of the hallway. She knocked on the door at the corner. "Jed." The door opened. "Yes, what is it?" His facial expression changed upon seeing the woman's face. "C-come in." Queen Erika went inside Jed's room and closed the door. "You haven't reported to me since you came to the capital." "Forgive me, Your Highness." He bowed. "I was busy studying life in the capital. It is totally different from Ned—" "Shh!" She covered his mouth. "Never mention that region here, and no one should know I am from there." She looked around the room, making sure there were no spies around. The queen let go of his mouth. "I'm sorry." He sighed. "How's your Lord Reji?" she asked. The kid knows that the new ruler of Nedostojan is her cousin. "He wants us to work double hard to penetrate the capital and start the plan to overtake the throne." He sat on his bed. The queen kept her silence for a bit. She is analyzing the situation and what to say to the kid. "We will work on that. For now, keep it low and blend in. We will get what we have always wanted sooner or later." "I saw one prince in school. Is he your son?" "He is not my son," she said with conviction. "I just had to take him in to look kind to the king." She suddenly remembered something. "Make friends with them and observe them. We had lunch earlier with the king, and I had a bad feeling. Report to me whatever you discover about Kev and his friends." "Is he a threat to the throne?" Jed is sure about the answer, he just wants to hear it from the queen herself. "He is. I want to make sure that the one who will take over the king's throne is from our clan." She chuckled. "Kev is a handmaiden's son from the Led Region." Jed nodded. "Clear." "I will leave now. Make sure you don't make mistakes and do what we ask you to do as the new generation of our clan. You are our hope to rise again." "I will take note of that, Your Highness." He bowed and opened his right arm, pointing to the door. He is telling the queen to leave his room. "Kids nowadays." She stormed out of the room with heavy footsteps. Jed smirked. "I know you want the throne all for yourself. I can feel that." He shook his head and laid down to his bed. "Selfish." Jed is from Nedostojan. According to Lord Reji, he was still a baby when he was adopted. His father is already dead and his mother eloped with another man. He was raised with hatred towards his mother. He was told his mother is now in the capital, living with her new family. He agreed to this mission of spying in the capital for two reasons— helping Nedos to lift the permanent ban from the mainland and to find his mother. He was trained to be one of the strongest young Nedos. Reji, his adoptive father, taught him combat skills and sword skills. He owes his life to their ruler, and he will do anything to repay his kindness to him. He stood up and prepared to leave. He rented this unit to be alone. He does not want to stay in the dorm with a dorm mate, but his money is not enough to get an upgraded solo room in the campus. The rooms in the capital are a lot cheaper than the school dormitory. He stormed out of the hostel to go back to the dorm. He needs to blend in and make friends with other kids, especially with the prince. He hates doing it, but he needs to do it for the people of Nedostojan. He walked towards the campus. He lowered his head, making sure no one paid attention to him. "Is that Jed? The quiet one in our class?" Maple pointed at the teenager walking on the busy street of the capital's central market. Czarina looked at the window. "Yes, he is." "Let's offer him a ride. He is probably going back to school. It's still far from here," Maple suggested. "How kind of you, young one," Master Kenjie complimented Maple. "No doubt you are General Hao's daughter." "Thank you, Master. I just feel bad for him .He is so quiet and always alone." "I will let him in." master Kenjie pulled the curtain and called the kid. "Jed?" The carriage stopped. He looked up to the carriage and saw an old man. "You know me?" "No, but these kids here know you. You may want to hop back to school." Master Kenjie titled his head, inviting him to ride with them. "No , thank you. I—" He stopped because he saw Kev's head through the window. He is seated beside this old man. "Thank you for the offer. The campus is still too far from here." The chauffeur stepped down and opened the door of the carrier. Jed hopped in and sat near Kev. He glanced at everyone and bowed a little to pay respect. "Thank you ." "You're welcome," Kev's short reply, then he looked away. ‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎‎
