The girlfriend

1011 Words
When we arrive at the pack house I am shocked. I used to come here every summer for three weeks since my parents were good friends with Alexander's parents and every time the house would be filled with people. Cousins, friends, family. At any given time we would come to visit there would be at least twenty people staying here. Now, the house is empty. The long corridors that were once filled with laughter are now dark and frightening. It's like a haunted house. "Alex, are you back? I thought you have to stay till..." The girl that probably heard us when we opened the door came smiling, dressed only in an oversized T-shirt and a sweet smile. She is stunning. She has a model-like body, tall and skinny, and long blonde hair. Her face is pretty, too, even though her make-up is all over the place, looking like she just woke up from a nap. She looks at me just as shocked as I look at her. "And who is your friend?" She asks after she recovers her composure. I, on the other hand, am not as fast as her. It doesn't help that my wolf is growling. "She smells like our mate! She is sleeping with our mate!" My wolf screams in anger. "No s**t, Sherlock. The fact that she's naked in his house wasn't good enough proof." I answer back. I wish I could get along with my wolf, like a normal werewolf, but her optimism is straight-up dangerous when it comes to Alexander. My internal conversation makes me miss their discussion. "I see." Answers the girl at something Alexander just said. "Can you ask someone to take her to the dungeons? I am too f*****g tired. I am going to take a nap." Dungeons? Is he really going to keep me there? A pack's dungeon is where the ones that attack their own pack members and prisoners rogues are kept. I promised not to cry, but still, this is too cruel... Can't he just kill me? I suffered enough in my opinion. He looks at me emotionless and the girl looks like she is lost in her thoughts, then he kisses her on the forehead and goes upstairs. She sees that I am about to cry and winks at me, smiling. Is she for real? "Come with me." I can follow her without complaint or I can follow her forced. Yeah, you guessed right. I follow her without saying a word. But instead of some underground prison, we go into a kitchen. "Grab the bread. It's on that shelf." She says, pointing to the shelf right next to me. I give her the bread in silence as she starts making a sandwich. "Want one?" She asks. I first want to refuse since I want to hate her for sleeping with my mate, but she looks nice and I am starving, and my mate is an asshole so screw him, I want a sandwich. I nod and she keeps minding her own business while I stare at her. After both sandwiches are done, she puts them on plates, gives one to me, and walks upstairs with the other, without saying anything more. I guess since she asked me if I want one, this, in my hands is for me. But she didn't say it so no way I'm going to eat it. I did this mistake once when Carolina gave me a plate with some leftovers and then beaten me to death because I dared to eat them without her permission. So I just stand there, starving, looking at a sandwich, not even daring to sit down. I hurry to drink some water, being careful not to make any noise, tho. And this goes on for half an hour. I start to make scenarios in my head, as any sane person does when bored. Maybe they fell asleep, maybe they just forgot about me or maybe they are having... My wolf protests at this one. Finally, I hear footsteps. "Oh, why didn't you eat? Don't you like the sandwich? I'm sorry I assumed every werewolf likes a salami sandwich with extra bacon." The girl says as she sees me standing there, still holding the sandwich in the exact position she left me. "I...I didn't know if I'm allowed." I answer, hating how weak my voice sounds. "I gave it to you, haven't I?" She puts her hands on my shoulder and pushes me into a chair. "Sit and eat. What juice do you like?" "Orange." I answer with my mouth full and she smiles. "That's Alexander's favorite too, but I hate it." She says handing me a glass of orange juice. "So now that you are no longer starving, your room." "Yeah, the dungeon." I say I am about to get all teary again. "No way. He was an asshole for saying that and I am sure that he would have changed his mind in like five minutes, so why waste the time." I am not as sure as her, but somehow it looks like she convinced him out of that idea so I am grateful. "You will stay in the guest bedroom." She stands up and tells me to follow her. "Baggage?" "I don't have any."I answer a little embarrassed. "Oh..." She seems surprised. "You can borrow some clothes from me, but I warn you, I am not fashionable at all." "Thank you!" Is all I can mutter. No one showed me any kindness in the last years and the fact that she is the first one to do it still shocks me. "I am Lexi, by the way. I am Alexander's girlfriend." I already guessed that much, but it still hurts hearing it. I wonder who Alexander told her I am. My wolf weeps and I attempt to do the same, but I keep it all in. For a while from now on, it seems, that my mate's girlfriend is going to be my only ally. The Moon Goddess sure has some dark sense of humor.
