DYLAN'S POV We walked towards her room and as she opened the door, she shot a question at me. I looked at her dumbstruck as she asked me that. How could she be not aware of it. Everyone knew it but her reaction was a proof that she had no idea about it. If I was to tell he about that and if she had to understand why the decision was taken, she had to know what had actually happened 20 years ago otherwise she could have been thoroughly confused. So, I took a seat on her bed and took a deep breath and remembered those life changing nights. Memories of those days flashed on me like it was just yesterday. It was all put to a start in that night. That one night was all that took to change the life of our packs and its heirs. One night that broke the bond and unity that all the 3 packs had for ages and the night that had decided the fate of the heirs. It was the night of celebrating the victory of the 3 packs for lifting the flag and bring back the triumph. The 108th triumph games had come to an end and no one knew that it was also going to be the forever end of the 3 packs lifting the flag together. We were all at the party with the presence of our families. We children were running around like crazy and our parents were enjoying to their hearts fullest. There were drinks and music all around us. The dinner time came and all were busy getting their plates filled and we kids were at our maximum. Bother Zayn tried a lot to control us and we were out of league. We went running around and accidently I hit my mother Diana and spiller her beautiful party gown with red wine. My mother, who was always fond of her dress and ornaments stood shocked and her face made me sacred to death. Brother Zayn came to my rescue and saved me from the terror I would have felt if I had felt in front of all. Mother was the scariest when it was about her luxury dresses. Father broke into utter laughter seeing me in such a state. Mother looked at me and I hid behind brother Zayn and to calm her down father came to her and hugged her. “don't spoil your mood dear, he is just a kid. Go and change, I’ll be there in just a minute” father told her and she looked at him with her fierce eye and then it changed into a smile. It was a huge relief for me and I squeal to her a sorry and ran back to continue our play. She went back inside and that was the moment I had seen happiness in everyone's face for the last time. After sometime, uncle Carlisle rushed to my father and dragged him by his arm excusing themselves from the other pack members. He gave an eye signal to uncle Stephen and he too joined him. Both aunt Freya, mother of Vivian and aunt Rosalie, mother of brother Zayn, who was 6 months pregnant followed them sensing something bad. They all gathered together in the east forest part and uncle Carlisle was too much tensed. No one knows what had happened there except my mother. That night a huge fire had broken out in the east forest and it burned down every soul gathered there. My father, uncle Stephen, aunt Rosalie and Freya, everyone had burned down to ashes in that fire. Their screams filled the wind that blew that night and it had marked itself in all our ears. No one could ever forget that unfaithful night ever. All the pack members rushed to save their alphas from the fire and all became engaged in one or the others ways trying to rescue them. Everyone where shattered to hell seeing that huge fire take place. We kids couldn’t believe our eyes and brother Zayn took us to a place away from the crowd and tried his best to calm us down. All of us were shivering seeing the turmoil around us and tried our best not to get into another trouble increasing the tension. The heirs were with us and that was the most vulnerable situation for the packs as the heirs were left unguarded. All of a sudden in between all the fuss, I realized that my brother Jayden was missing among us. I looked around to see whether he was near us but it was in vain. He was no were around us. “bother Zayn, where’s brother Jayden?” I screamed at him because there was way to noise around us. He was then alarmed by the fact and he too tried to locate him near us but he was nowhere in sight. Brother Zayn held me and with his serious face looked deep inside me. “Dylan, listen to me carefully. You are strong and courageous and I have seen your strength more than yourself. Now just tell me one thing, do you trust me?” I had no idea what he was telling me still I kept nodding because his voice was an assuring one. “take care of the girls and don’t let them out of your site. I have to go and look for your brother. We have to save and protect each other right” he patted my head and the positive vibe he gave was enough for me to take care of the girls. I made myself calm down and took the girls inside our house to keep them safe from all the outside fuss. Tasha and Sanem was crying profoundly as they were scared to hell and Vivian tried their best to console them. It was none of our faults. We were of such a young and mild age. Brother Zayn and Jayden were 10, I was 8, Vivian was 7 and the other 2 were 5 years of age. We had never ever imagined that at such an age we would have to face the biggest nightmares of our life's. Vivian took the girls to their bedroom and tried to make them sleep in vain. Finally, as she had put them to sleep, out of the blue a gravely injured uncle Carlisle came into the mansion with brother Zayn, who was holding and supporting uncle by his shoulders. I was downstairs with them and the noise made Vivian come down from the bedroom to us. She was shattered to see her father in such a blood bathed state and screamed at him. “father what is happening and how did you end up like this” she ran to him and hugged him tightly. His face clearly expressed how hard he was holding himself alive and without thinking about anything else asked her to go with him. We were blank on what he was saying and Sanem came downstairs to us hearing our noises. She too joined in hugging uncle and again began to cry as loud as she could. “Vivian, you have to leave now itself and its an order” he, in his high alpha tone ordered Vivian who was numb hearing it. I knew what she felt. Leaving everything and everyone of us alone and going with him, how could he even think about something like that? “father what are you saying?” Vivian asked him being totally confused on the situation. “Dylan, son can you help me with something?” uncle turned to me and with an eye filled with his left-out strength he asked me something that I was never going to forget in my entire life. “will you look after my Tasha while we are gone? Will you promise me that you will take care of her just like you did till now and protect her from all the troubles and devils that might come for her? Can I count on you for that?” he asked me and I was left aghast thinking why all of a sudden everyone was asking me to become a man. I nodded a yes to him with high faith and determination and he caught hold of Vivian by her hands and rushed out of the mansion in a hurry. Brother Zayn came in at the exact moment and as he saw us all he took Sanem in his arms and followed them without saying a word. But he wasn’t that cold hearted because he came back in a second. “always remember my words and your promise to me, protect her and be the man you were meant to be. Maybe one day we will surely meet” he whispered into my ears and left without even turning back. Through the glass windows of our mansion, I saw them disappearing into the forest and I was the boy who was left with some promises and a blank mind which was trying to analyze what was exactly happening in the moment. Among all that thoughts that ran through my brain, it never even occurred to me that that was the last time I was going to see them. I sat on the sofa not being aware of my surroundings and dung my head between my legs. I had no idea how much time it took for all the turmoil and fuss to shut out and loud cries filled the area of whole territories. I walked to one of our windows and saw that my mother was sitting outside in our lawn in a terrible sate and brother Jayden was besides the pool. Both of them looked lost. I made my way to mother and saw that her hands were covered in blood. She was numb and didn’t even know that I was in front of her. I held her palms and my heart skipped a beat as the blood spread into my arms. Still in looked at her and her face was not at the once that was seen last night in the party. Her dress was in the most horrific condition and her hair was like a bird's nest. “mother what happened? Where is father and the others?” I gathered my courage and asked her in a trembling tone. “father? Your father is dead Dylan....” she screamed at me in the top of her voice and burst into a pool of tears. “no, it can't be. Why are you lying mother” I could in no way believe such a thing? They were the most powerful wolfs of the pack, how can something mere like fire kill them?” I had a hard time keeping my voice unbroken and asked her. Her eyes turned much redder than what it was. She was looking as if a volcano was going to blast. She was in such a bad temper. “something mere like fire was not that killed your father but something he believed in more than his own family was what made him meet his end. Your uncle, the great alpha Carlisle is the one who killed your father” her eyes had completely turned blood red with rage. She yelled at me and broke into an ocean of grief and cried her heart out like anything. I was not able to understand what she meant because of what I had seen last night and what all both uncle Carlisle himself and brother Zayn had told me. I was trapped in the most enigmatic trap of the lycan world without having a door to escape. But what had struck my heart was the news about my father's death. It had hit my heart like an arrow and fell on my knees without even shedding a drop of tear. Last night I was a boy who was the luckiest having everyone in my life and one night was all it took to destroy that beautiful world and life of mine. I couldn’t cry nor was able to feel anything in me. I had slipped into the same numb state I had seen my mother in. I saw brother Jayden look like a statue and walked to him and sat next to him. “he didn’t move at all or talk anything or even look at me. He was like a dead being. I kept my hands on his and his skin was the coldest one I had ever felt. his body was very fragile and his face had swollen up like a red tomato. I couldn't control myself feeling him and I hung on to his hands and cried my heart out. “brother what is happening? Please tell me” I poured my heart out to him and he didn’t even care about what was happening in his surroundings. I kept on weeping out thinking about everything and I told him what uncle Carlisle and brother Zayn had told me and that is the first time since he reacted to something since, I had sat with him. “whom should I listen to now? What is the truth brother? What should I believe in?” I kept on asking him for his advice and I never even for once thought how he was feeling about it or what he was going through. He looked at me in the most delicate way and I could see his eyes were trying hard to accept something. He hugged me tight and was about to say something when we felt the arrival of the senior alpha of the alphas, Lionel king. The whole atmosphere changed with his arrival as he was accompanied by the betas and omegas of his pack and there was no one of our pack around us. I was about to run to mother when brother pulled me towards him and told me not to interfere in between the elders. We stayed by the pool side and witnessed a serious talk between them. After talking something with mother, the senior alpha was followed by her inside the house and one the beta came to us and took us to the head quarter office and they gave us cloths to clean up ourselves and made us have food. Brother was not the old Jayden anymore. He had changed all together. Neither he was talking or reacting to anything. He was moving as if he was controlled like a robot and I followed his pace like a lost child who had lost his mind and was completely blank. After an hour or so, mother too was brought to the head quarter and as I saw her, I ran to her and hung onto her like a sloth. she had cleaned up herself and changed her dress. She was looking very brittle and she looked at brother Jayden with an eye filled with tears. I feared those looks as they meant that something that was going to happen was not at all a great news for anyone of us....
