#musicvibe - Let me be your superhero, Smash into pieces * Valeria POV The second I walked into the control center, I noticed three, large, good-looking men in tailored suits talking to Mr Sampson and Sam. I walked over to them. “You asked for me, Sir?” I said. Mr Sampson nodded. “Sorry to interrupt your fun.” He smirked. “But I have a new assignment for you.” “Will Arcade be taken care of?” I asked. Mr Sampson nodded. “We’ve utilized every part of the information already.” “Good.” I grinned. “So, what’s up?” Mr Sampson pulled up a video on the screen in front of us. “Tell me what you see.” He said. “I want to know what you think.” The video showed two men in disguises breaking into a building. Based on the equipment inside the building, I assumed that it was a tech facility. The men basically walked up to a device I didn’t recognize. I guessed that it was some kind of prototype. They lifted it up and walked out of there. I frowned. There were several details about this video that seemed weird. “Hmm.” I hummed. “First, they seemed to have done their research. They never searched the rooms. Instead they got what they wanted straight away and walked out without taking anything else. The security system seemed to have been tampered with too. No one stopped them from taking the device.” Mr Sampson nodded. “Anything else?” He asked. I looked at the video and paused when I watched the men trying to break through a door. I saw them crush the lock with a metal stick. I rewound the video and looked at that sequence again. “That’s not right.” I mumbled. “What did you find?” I pursed my lips, deep in thought. “The amount of force needed to break that lock is three times as high as the average human strength.” I explained. “There’s no way they could have done that without any other kind of equipment than a metal stick.” I looked at Sampson. “Enhanced soldiers?” I asked. Mr Sampson shook his head. “Werewolves.” He replied. My eyes widened and I quickly scanned the three guys in the room. I shrugged. “I didn’t even know that was a thing.” I mumbled. “What was the device they took?” One of the men snorted. “You just found out the existence of werewolves and that’s your reaction?” He laughed. “Well, why not.” I shrugged. “You three are werewolves too, so I guess that you are here to help us stop these guys then?” “How could you tell that we were werewolves?” Another one of the men frowned. “What gave us away?” It took a moment for me to answer him. Somehow, it felt like my eyes couldn’t stop staring at the third one that still hadn’t spoken. He had black hair and green eyes. He was tall and muscular and seemed to be radiating a powerful aura. Maybe he was the leader? “Umm-” I began. “Your body temperature, actually.” The third man raised an eyebrow. “Pardon me?” I shrugged. “You all have higher body temperature than the average human.” I stated matter-of-factly. “Either the three of you are coming down with the flu, or you are not human.” The three men glanced at each other, unsure about what to make of this situation. Mr Sampson cleared his throat. “Agent Adams is telekinetic.” He explained. “She is a genetically engineered soldier.” He turned to me. “Allow me to introduce you.” He continued. “Agent Adams, this is Tyson Pierce. He’s a lycan and king of all werewolves and lycans in the UK.” He continued to point out King Tyson’s Beta Kayden Hawke and Gamma Garrett Vincent and I simply nodded to them. “Werewolves and lycans?” I asked. “We’re lycans actually.” Garret said. “Werewolves stem from lycans after lycans started mating with humans. Lycans are larger and have some abilities that a werewolf doesn't.” “Okay, cool.” I said. “So what did they take?” Gamma Garrett cleared his throat. “The prototype they took is a device that can be used to disrupt vibrational frequencies on a molecular level.” He said. “With some modifications, it can be used to stop a lycan from shifting while a werewolf’s shift would still be successful.” “And I’m assuming that you’re more vulnerable in human form?” I ask. Garrett nodded. “Exactly.” “Why?” I asked. “What is their goal?” “They’re after King Tyson.” Beta Kayden replied. “A lycan called Amadeus has rallied troops to overthrow him and take power for himself.” “We’re installing a new security system in their company.” Mr Sampson explained. “It will take 48 hours to set it up, so I need you to stay with King Tyson in the meantime.” “I’m not sure it will be necess…” Beta Kayden began. “Welcome to the team.” King Tyson said. * Tyson POV I couldn’t stop staring at her. She was perfect, but I was still a little puzzled. Why had Moon Goddess paired me with a human? That’s almost been unheard of. When Mr Sampson assigned her to me, I almost jumped with joy. I wanted her to be close to me. Hell, I wanted to do a lot more than that. That way, I had an excuse to spend some time with her and I hoped that the pull of the mate bond would make her want to stay with me. So when Kayden started protesting, I had to cut him off before he scared her away. “Welcome to the team.” I blurted. Really? Did I just say that? She’s my mate, not some intern on a job interview for Goddess’ sake! I mentally kicked myself and smiled at her. "Dude, what are you doing?" Kayden asked over the mindlink. "What are we supposed to do with a human?" "Mate!" I shouted through the mindlink. “Well f*ck.” I heard Kayden mutter under his breath while Mr Sampson concluded the meeting. I found myself walking behind Agent Adams, but I was unable to stop looking at her ass. “I like it.” Dax preened in my head. When we got to the elevator, Agent Adams turned to me and I quickly diverted my gaze. “I don’t really know anything about lycans.” She said. “Is there a title that you’d prefer that I use when addressing you?” “Umm-” I felt at a loss for words. “You can call me Tyson.” I said. Maybe she would thinks it was weird? To my relief, she just nodded. “Alright.” She said before stepping into the elevator. "Dude." This time it was Garrett that spoke over the mindlink. "You’re gonna be on a first name basis with her?" "Mate." I sighed through the mindlink. I saw Garrett’s eyes widen to the size of saucers and he stared at me. "You’re joking right?" I shook my head. "Wow." He muttered. "Congratulations!" I glared at him. Human mates were always complicated. A lot of wolves had to kidnap their mates at first since they couldn’t stay away from them. I just hoped that the 48 hours that I had her with me would make her want to stay with me. We made our way to the underground parking garage and got in. I made sure to sit next to her so that I could smell her discreetly. “So.” Kayden said. “Do you have a first name, Agent Adams?” She narrowed her eyes at him, but I found myself holding my breath at her answer. “Valeria.” She replied quietly. “Nice to meet you, Valeria.” Garrett said with enthusiasm. “Is it alright if we call you that?” She hesitated, but nodded. “Sure, if that’s what you’d prefer.” She shrugged. The rest of the journey back to the Maxwell building was awkwardly quiet. Valeria looked out the window the whole time. When we arrived, we all went up the elevator to the penthouse floor where the Alpha apartment was. “We’ll leave you two.” Garret said. “Lots of work to do, and he’s safe with you right?” Valeria nodded. “Okay, bye.” Garret blurted and quickly pulled Kayden with him before he could protest. I couldn’t help but notice the smirk and how he discreetly winked at me before leaving. Finally alone with Valeria, I just wanted to hold her close to me. Dax purred at the thought and I had to physically hold back that purr from being heard out loud. "Calm down." I scolded my wolf before turning to Valeria. “I was thinking about making some pasta.” I said. “Are you hungry?” For the first time, Valeria smiled genuinely and my heart skipped a beat. “I would love some.” She replied. “Do you mind if I just take a look around the flat?” I raised an eyebrow and she quickly blurted. “For security reasons, of course.” I smirked and I saw a slight blush coating her cheeks. It made me happy to see that the mate bond had some effect on her too. “Yes.” I replied. “I’ll get started on dinner in the meantime.” I started cooking some pasta carbonara and after a few minutes, Valeria joined me in the kitchen. “It smells good.” She looked at the bacon sizzling in the frying pan and her eyes twinkled. Maybe the way to her heart was through her stomach? I made a mental note to ask her favorite meal and learn to cook it for her. After a few minutes, dinner was ready and I settled down by the table, Valeria sitting down on the opposite side. When she took a bite of the pasta she moaned out loud and closed her eyes. “This is good.” She moaned and took another bite. Damn, I almost came right there. Trying to ignore the painfully hard lump in my trousers, I shifted in my chair and asked. “When was the last time you ate?” Valeria rolled her eyes and shrugged. “When I do those kinds of missions that I just wrapped, I’m usually on a strict diet of tequila and bar nuts for a week straight.” She explained between chews. “It’s been days since I had a hot meal.” I frowned. “That doesn’t sound healthy.” She shrugged. “It’s fine.” While Valeria munched on the pasta I sat there contemplating. Should I? "Just go for it!" Dax rolled his eyes. “Do you want to play 20 questions?” I asked. Valeria stopped chewing and stared at me.
