CHAPTER FIVE He leaned back in the green lawn chair. He’d brought it himself to blend in with the rest of them. Though this was more difficult than he’d first anticipated. He smiled along with the parents, clapping his hands when they did and looking sufficiently flustered at the call of a referee when the faces around him turned sour. A challenging thing to blend in. Especially amidst all the noise. He winced as a new wave of cheering arose from the parents. His eyes were fixed on the teenage girls playing soccer. A varsity game. Seniors in high school sprinting up and down the grass, as if they owned the place. He could feel his temper threatening to spill over already. But of course, he couldn’t shout. He couldn’t yell at the referee. He couldn’t make his case to a parent sitting
