I tilted my head to see what was happening in the front door. Devlin’s body had prevented me from seeing the face of the men. I heard their loud voices, urging Devlin to let them inside, but Devlin refused.
“Dude, let us in.”
“No!”
“I have flowers to give her.”
“You can give it to me, and I will give it to her.”
“What’s wrong with you? Introduce us to her.”
“Nope!”
“Damn–Why not?”

They continued to argue.
I stood up and approached them. I touched Devlin’s arm spread against the door frame, preventing his visitor from barging into the room.
The faces of the men beamed when they saw me.
