Chapter 42 - Morning Mist

2749 Words

Theora lost the argument and begrudgingly wore a skirt for dinner. The only reason she conceded defeat was that Mymesia, when eventually pulled into the fight, leaned in favor of her sister, and both convinced Theora to squeeze herself into another skirt before their parents got home. Theora already hated her cousins' tight and short skirts, but she discovered the experience was even worse when seated; as they sat around the dinner table, the waistband became a painful instrument of torture forcing her to consider very carefully anything she put in her mouth. The worst part was that the dinner was the first meal that looked like she could finally eat her fill, with several plates of vegetables, baked potatoes, and a large piece of meat put on the table, and everyone could help themselves.
