The Knights of Mount Luna

Chapter Five

"Wake up, Euryale! Wake up!" a loud voice rings on my ear. I just covered myself with one of my pillows and doesn't mind Elaine's punches. I didn't get enough sleep earlier because of being uncomfortable on my bed.

Sleeping in his room is truly a big bad idea. Imagine, I just slept there for a couple of hours and my body wants to sleep there for the rest of my life? I am also getting annoyed with this body, it is betraying his owner.

"Eury! Ares is already waiting for you at the training ground! You better hurry or else..."

"Or else what?!" I shouted at her and she almost fell to the ground because of my sudden shout at her.

"Chill! I'm not your enemy! You just woke up and it's like you've been awake for 48 hours straight" she said jokingly but I just throw a pillow at her face.

"Leave, I'm still sleepy!" I said and tried to cover myself with my thick blankets and a couple of pillows.

A heard the lock of the door opened and Elaine suddenly went silent. I'm just so sleepy now, the only thing I want to do is to sleep and sleep and sleep!

"Eury...Eury, come on! Get up!" the tone of her voice suddenly changed, someone came.

"What the!" I almost cursed at him when he suddenly lifted me from my bed.

"Prince Dimitri put me down!" I immediately said to him

"I don't want to!" he sticks his tongue out and put me on a chair. He knelt in front of me and slowly tucked some of my hairs on my ears before smiling at me. I can't push him now because Elaine is here. I don't want him to be humiliated in front of her even if we're all childhood friends.

"I thought I'm gonna see you at the training ground first thing in the morning but you know what I saw there?" his eyes are getting bigger and he's almost pouting again. He's like a child complaining to her mother about losing his favorite candy.

"What did you see then?" I asked him and tried to look at Elaine who is now busy fixing my bed.

"I saw a very big dragon, throwing his black scales!" I just let out a chuckle because I know what he's talking about

"Wait, the dragon's color is..." he acted like he's remembering it so I just shook my head and sighed but can't help but smile. If you are not a prince, I'm just going to act normal when I'm with you but sadly, it is not like that. We should know our boundaries and be so close to you is not a Knight's duty.

"The dragon's color is Blue and his name is Ares" I finished his sentence and smiled. He always said those words when he's waking me up 12 years ago. Nothing's changed for him but for me, a lot. A lot of things have changed even my principles.

"I'm going to take a bath, see you at the training ground," I said and tried to smile at him again. He just sighed and stood up. He knows me too well. I don't want to have more interactions with him like what happened earlier. I don't want anyone making some gossips about the next king of this kingdom is merely in love with a knight. We grew up together and for all those years, I know what he feels about me even if he's not giving some official motives.

"Alright. Elaine, can you do me a favor?" he looked at her direction and just like that she automatically smiled.

"Come with her, just in case we need a healer, you can practice your ability on us if it's okay with you?"

"Of course! I will be there!" she answered him with excitement, Dimitri just nodded and started to walk out of the door.

"Hey, I'm just going to take a bath. You can go there first, I'll be there after a couple of minutes" I said to her It's not like I don't want to go to the training ground with her, I just know that she preferred to go there and spend some time with them.

"Eury, you don't have to continue doing what you're doing a few years ago," she said and avoid my gaze. I just sighed and remembered everything I did for her just to spend some time with Dimitri.

We're both girls and I know her well too. The moment she realized her feelings, I knew it a few months ago just by observing her actions so she can't hide anything to me.

"Just go, Elaine. Spend some time with him, I also don't want to go there immediately. You know, the devil is there!" I said it with a lively voice because if I said it with my normal voice she will not be convinced and overthink everything. Seeing her happy is making ma happy too.

"Alright...You're still the best" she said shyly and ran towards me. I can feel his tight hug and small sobs. This crybaby...

"Go, before I changed my mind" I grinned at her and she quickly ran out of my room.

Finally, a peaceful environment! I did my morning routine and get dressed. I don't have time to eat anymore because I can imagine Ares' face now. A left-handed blue-eyed Knight Commander spitting fire like a damn dragon. I can imagine the way he's swinging Devil's Sin everywhere. I let out a chuckle and get my sword.

I greeted everyone back when I'm on my way to the training ground, they are a bit distanced to me in some ways but I don't mind it as long that I can still mix with them and not cause some kind of ruckus.

I stopped when I saw their figures. Elaine who's talking with Dimitri with a smile as wide as my window in my room. I leaned to the nearest wall and watched them. What if I didn't come here 13 years ago, will I be able to meet them? Will I be able to share some precious memories with them? I probably not. 

I just played with my sword and continue watching them. I can't see Ares or even his shadow.

"So you finally decided what you want to do in your life" I almost hit my head in the wall when he appeared in my vision.

"I'm just thinking about something! What's wrong with that?!" I asked him with an annoying look at my face

"You're two hours late," he said out of nowhere and I just raised my eyebrow at him.

"Even if you're still not okay, you don't have the privilege to defy my orders"

"I am not defying your orders!"

I shouted at him because that's the truth! He should stop accusing me of things that I absolutely don't do.

"Oh, come on, Euryale. If you're not defying my orders why are you late then? Care to explain your reasons?" he put his sword to his scabbard and looked at me directly at my eyes.

"I am late because I didn't get a proper sleep" I confidently answered him, he just put an annoying smile on his face and raised his right eyebrow.

"Any other reason, baby?"

My jaw almost dropped because of what I heard. What did he say?!

"W-what did you call me?" he rolled his eyes and put out his sword and point it at my neck

"We should start your light training, Knight Major," he said and I feel the urge to pierce my sword to his chest. How can he be someone else in a matter of seconds and come back to his true devil form quickly?

I put out my sword and quickly hit him. A lot of knights moved away when they saw us dueling again.

"Your prince is watching you..."

"Shut up!" I said and do some of my techniques. A lot of them are not training anymore, they are just watching us, waiting for someone to make a mistake to put an end to this duel.

We are literally dancing to the air like the falling leaves of the moon tree.

He is so calm while blocking my strong attacks and continue doing some of his techniques while I am here started to feel the anger rising to my system. He is always like this! He likes to make me feel that I'm too weak for him but in fact, I am the only one who can duel with him and give him a fair battle.

I am stronger than he thinks!

"You can't win a battle if you can't even manage your anger," he said and give a strong attack to me.

"If you want to win every battle, learn to fight with a calm and open mind" he lectured me while we continue hitting each other's sword with fascinating magical power. The white light coming from my sword is completely being eaten by the light coming from his sword. He looked at me and I just focused on our fight.

"Control your anger, Euryale. We will not stop this if you're not going to do that" he said but I just give him a combination of my two strongest technique

I heard him curse and tried to block it but a bright light blinded most of us. I can hear Dimitri's worried remarks. When the fog completely disappeared, I searched for his body but his position earlier is empty.

"That's pretty good" he whispered in my ears and I automatically looked at him but he disappeared again.

"Stop hiding, dumbass!" I shouted and tried to search for him.

"I am not hiding, baby..." I feel his lips slightly touching my ears so it gives me the adrenaline to attack him again.

I thought the fog that I caused earlier already disappeared?!

"Never turn your back at your opponent" my sword almost slipped at my hands when I tried to block his attacked from my back. I can hear Dimitri's voice trying to stop us from dueling but Ares' doesn't seem to care about it at all.

"I am not turning…my back to you!" I said and kicked him, he just laughs and continues to block my attacks.

"Your anger is still rising, control it!"

"I am trying!"

I'm trying to do what he's saying but I can't just do it! How can I control my anger in front of him if he continues to irritate my whole system?!

"Then try harder, baby..."

"f**k you!" I cursed at him and give consecutive attacks.

"See? I just called you baby and you cursed at me, hmmm"

"Shut your damn mouth, Ares Nicolai!" I said to him. This is the first time I call him with his second name and he knows that I'm serious in this duel now.

"My baby is mad..." he let out a chuckle.

Stop calling me baby! I am not a baby! I am not your baby! I can feel my heartbeat getting faster and faster. The rage of anger in my system is completely a mess.

"This is just a simple training, Knight Major Euryale Stheno! Stop being so stubborn! Do what I say!"

Among my training, this kind of training is the one I always avoided. I can't control my anger especially when it comes to him.

"Fight me with a calm and open mind, not with a stubborn one..."

"You know that this is my weakness!" I said to him while catching my breath

"And that is the real reason why I am doing this to you. To become stronger, you must first face your weaknesses" he said and just a second he's holding my hand, I mean, my sword!

"I am not your enemy, Knight Major," he said and tried to find my eyes. I looked away while still catching my own breath.

"Yes, you are" I coldly answered him when I finally got enough air to start talking again. I removed my sword from his grip. I know that I cut him because of that sudden move but I honestly don't care. He deserves that.
