Chapter Four - Warrity

❤Warrity “Mom is going to catch us!” Willow growled out. I rolled my eyes as I huffed out at my younger sister. “She won’t,” I argued, determined to get Willow to help me. “Mom thinks you are out sneaking off to see Ariel,” “What?” Willow asked as she visibly paled. The truth was, I knew she was sneaking out to see her girlfriend. “Why don’t you just tell mom?” I asked, changing the subject from me to her. Willow shook her head as she sat down on the grass and leaned back against the packhouse wall. Currently, our parents were out with Wynter and Wanita. Those two girls loved to shop. Dad only went with them to make sure they didn’t blow the budget. “How can I tell her that I am in a relationship with a girl?” Willow whined out and once again I rolled my eyes. “Easy…hey mom, Ariel is my girlfriend and I love her,” “I don’t love her!” she squeaked out as her face went red. “Oh, you so do, and she is just as crazy about you,” I stated. I had been witnessing the blossoming romance between the two of them for years. “Besides, what could mom possibly say?” I asked, suddenly concerned as to why my sister was afraid to tell our mother about her sexuality. “She’d freak out!” Willow complained. “Just like she’ll freak out when she catches us!’ “She won’t!” I picked up the argument from earlier. “All you have to do is cover for me,” “Mom is like a dog, she’ll sniff out the truth in no time,” she said. “Maybe, but by then I’ll be far away,” I smiled as I thought about my potential future. I had zero desire to be King of the pack but my passion for music was something I desperately wanted to pursue. “Ok, ok, ok, I’ll do it,” Willow announced defeat and I grinned sheepishly at her. “Great, I’ll go pack while they are out,” I hurried back inside the house through the kitchen door and I spotted Brielle, baby, talking to Lisa as she tried to give the two-year-old something to eat. I chuckled lightly as I shook my head. Lisa was just as stubborn as her mother, maybe even more so and I knew Brielle would be trying to get Lisa to eat for a long time. I headed upstairs to my room and went straight to the cupboard. I pulled out a bag and started packing my things. My mother supported my love for music and although my dad wasn’t against it, he believed I should be focusing my time on becoming the King. Ha! I laughed without any humor as I thought back to all the stories, I had heard about how he had been a badass before he went to jail. Funny thing, both my parents had spent time in prison, and yet both of them were loving, kind, and caring. What happened, who knew, and I didn’t care. I hid my bag and guitar case in the back of the cupboard and smiled. Tonight, with Willow’s help, I would slip out and head to Arkfield and I would make a name for myself. I’d prove to my annoying father that I could make a living out of being a musician. That’ll teach him to mind his own business. The sudden sound of laughing caught my attention and I headed back downstairs. Twelve-year-old Wynter and eight-year-old Wanita were showing off their new dresses to an unimpressed Brielle. I could only assume that meant that my mother had taken over at trying to get Lisa to eat something. My father was nowhere to be seen but I could guess he had gone straight to his office. “War! Look!” Wynter saw me and I groaned. I should’ve gone back into hiding, instead, now I would have to be entertained by my two lovely sisters. I went into the sitting room and sat down on the sofa; past experiences have taught me that this could take a while. “Isn’t it pretty?” Wanita asked as she held out a soft yellow summer dress against her small frame. I had to admit, it was a pretty dress. “It makes your eyes sparkle,” I complimented her. Wanita giggled as she began digging in the other bags, pulling out other random articles of clothing to show me. In the meantime, Wynter was doing the same thing to poor Brielle. I had to hand it to my parents, as difficult as they can be, they sure knew how to take care of their family. Growing up it wasn’t always about money or having nice things, but my parents always made sure we had what we needed. As we got older, we had to work for our weekly wages. Doing chores or duties around the pack had been how I had managed to save up for my baby. My precious guitar. It would seem, however, that Wynter and Wanita hadn’t quite gotten to that age yet. I smirked as I imagined these two baby dolls working around the pack to earn enough money to buy these kinds of pretty dresses. “War?” I glanced up and saw my mother standing by the kitchen door. She was smiling and I couldn’t help but return her smile. My mother is absolutely stunning. Tall, slim but well built for a female and strong. On top of all of that, she had long thick hair that I knew Willow envied and the prettiest eyes that I was blessed with inheriting. My mother, the Alpha Luna, was a force to be reckoned with so when she gestured for me to join her in the kitchen, I didn’t hesitate to get up and excuse myself. “Sorry Brielle,” I mumbled out in passing. I was leaving her with both of them now. “Hey mom,” I greeted her as I quickly kissed her cheek. Lisa was still sitting in the highchair but this time it was clear that my mom had force-fed her. Smears of what I could only assume was pumpkin, was all over her bib and face. However, as terrible as the situation looked, Lisa seemed content with being fed as her eyes struggled to stay open. Felicity took off the bib and started cleaning up Lisa’s face. “Have you seen Willow today?” she asked me, and I already knew what was coming. This is how well I knew my mother. “Yes, I have, and no I don’t know where she is right now,” I said as I leaned against the kitchen counter. “Now what kind of brother are you if you don’t even know where she is?” Felicity asked as she finished cleaning Lisa’s adorable face. “The good kind,” I responded cheekily. Felicity gave me a pointed look before she gently took Lisa out of the highchair. “You aren’t too old for a smack,” she threatened, and I burst out laughing. “Mom, you haven’t given me a smack since I was ten,” I pointed out. She started giggling as she positioned Lisa against her hip. “Well, that doesn’t mean I won’t do it now,” she said. “Meet me on the front porch in ten,” I nodded and watched as she left the kitchen to put down Lisa. I headed outside and saw Willow and Ariel coming towards the house. They were holding hands and I shook my head. Everyone in the pack knew they were a couple except our parents. “Willow, mom is home,” I called out in warning. Immediately she dropped Ariel’s hand and I noticed the sad, disappointed look cross over Ariel’s features. The blonde-haired female was hurt by my sister’s actions and I had to say, I felt sorry for her. “Hi War,” Ariel kindly greeted me, and I smiled sadly at the young female. She was like a sister to me, but I still felt that Willow should just be honest. Ariel didn’t deserve what Willow was doing. “Hey, Ariel, what’s up?” I asked casually as I threw a dirty look in my sister’s direction. She caught on and blushed as she sat down on the porch steps. “Not much, I heard your parents took the monsters shopping again,” she said with a dry laugh. “Those monsters are adorable monsters,” Felicity said as she joined us on the front porch. We all laughed but I noticed that Willow was forcing it. I would have to talk to my dear sister before leaving her alone to fend for herself. “Of course, they are, Luna,” Ariel said with a smile. “Now then, where have you been?” Felicity asked Willow. “Around,” she replied sarcastically. I was surprised by her spicey attitude and I knew that something was up if she was acting out of character. My sister has a backbone and she can stand up for herself but on most days she’s quiet and shy. Today, however, it would seem that she was ready for just about anything. “Oh my, how specific of you dear,” Felicity shot back with her own sarcasm. I chuckled as I sat down on the deck chair, ready to watch a show and Ariel joined me. “Oh, I am so sorry mother, since I got up this morning, I’ve been to the bathroom, the kitchen, the training grounds, to Ariel’s house, and now finally back to the packhouse,” Willow eyed Felicity dangerously as she added: “Is that specific enough for you mother? Or would you like a more detailed version?” oh, oh, oh! Willow was on thin ice; I could tell from the way my mother’s ears had gone a soft shade of red. “As a matter of fact, yes, a detailed version would be appropriate,” Felicity shot back, not missing a beat. “Fine, I took a dum-” “Don’t you dare!” Felicity growled out. Willow smiled sweetly as she stood up and faced our mother. “Sure,” she cooed out and I knew this was just as bad as being sarcastic. “Agh! What did I do to deserve this?” Felicity moaned out as she grabbed Willow’s arm and basically dragged her into the house. “Any idea what that was all about?” I asked Ariel curiously. I have seen my sister act out before, but this was something else. “She’s creating a distraction,” she explained. I frowned, confused. “For tonight? You know your mother, War if she is distracted by Willow’s attitude then she won’t be sniffing around your business,” “Oooh!” I facepalmed myself as I realized just how clever my sister really was. “Nicely done little sis,”  ❤ “You’ll spot the car about a mile down the road. Ariel said that it wasn’t easy, but the boot is loaded with food,” Willow whispered as we stood along the borderline of the pack’s territory. I nodded as I put down my bags and pulled her into a warm hug. “Don’t give mom too many grey hairs,” I said when I released her. “I won’t but I have decided to take your advice,” she said. “I’m going to tell her about me and Ariel,” “Good, you’ll feel better once you do. Besides, Ariel doesn’t deserve all the sneaking around the two of you have been doing,” I pointed out. “Yeah, I know. Anyway, don’t forget to check in ok?” “I won’t forget,” we hugged one more time before I pushed my bags through the slip in the wire fence. “Love you, Will,” “Love you too, War,” I pushed myself through the slip and hurried through the thick forest to the main road. It took me quite a while, but the moon was still high up. When I reached the road, I breathed out a sigh of relief. I continued along the side of the road until I spotted the dark blue BMW parked next to a large tree. It wasn’t very well hidden but that didn’t matter. I took the car keys from my pocket and unlocked the vehicle. Making sure my bags were safely inside on the backseat, I got into the driver seat and started the engine. It was a good thing I was so far away from the pack already. I had no doubt that my mother would’ve heard the engine and been on high alert. But being this far away, I didn’t have to worry about that. As I drove away, I couldn’t help but smile. My future was waiting for me and the road ahead was leading me to it.  ❤ I unlocked the car and was just about to open the door when I heard someone call out to me. I turned around to see a tall man, dressed in a really nice suit, standing way too close for comfort. “Excuse me sir?” he said as he held out a map. I glanced over his shoulder at the diner I had just finished having breakfast at and wondered where he had come from. “Um, yeah? Can I help you?” I asked as I pressed myself against my car, trying to put some distance between us. “Do you know this place?” he asked, pointing at something on the map. I glanced down and leaned in closer to get a better look at what he was pointing at. I didn’t see the blow coming and as the darkness took over, the last thought I had was - my guitar!
