Chapter 7

1175 Words
An awkward silence roamed around the room. No one dares to answer Lyn’s question since they didn’t know that this would happen anytime. The two boys thought that their experiment would work successfully but it did not. After a minute of silence, one of them started to talk so they could explain it to Lyn since she needs to know more about their world. This world is obviously more advanced than the other world where Lyn was living. The children were taught about advanced technologies and how would they handle them since they have to adapt from where they were living now. Even though they were forced to study complicated topics in order to know the basics of their world, it was never hard for them to adapt and learn new things since there are a lot of alternatives or technologies that would make their lives easier and happier. Of course, there are also disadvantages to everything here. “Alright, we’ve got some explanations to do,” said Enjo as he readied himself. “So basically, we were practicing and memorizing the calculations of time for this time so we won’t forget it,” started Benji while he was writing down notes about what happened earlier. Everything has limitations so even though they were living in an advanced world and they already have what they need, they would still live like a normal person. They still forget things and make mistakes. The golden rule if they made a huge mistake from the past, present or future is to refrain themselves from correcting it because they might experience either a minor or major issue to the present or to the future. These two boys were careful with every move they made when it comes to experimenting or teleporting through time since they prefer to work or learn by themselves. They cut classes since it is more fun to just straight up do the experiments. Classes are not really important for them and they don’t care about it since they have the privilege to do what they want. Little did Lyn know that they are the children of the recent ruler of this world. “We could show you how it was done if you want but it would surely mess up the timeline and there might be minor issues for the future,” explained Benji while he was still writing down notes since they didn’t attend classes so he had to make his own notes. “Maybe I’ll give it a try,” replied Lyn. She looked down on Benji’s notes and she couldn’t understand a thing since it was full of numbers and some random letters. There are some phrases and explanations on each side of Benji’s notes and of course there would be some doodles and drawings on the next page. While they were on a trip to the future or past, Benji would feel bored easily so he would take out his pocket notebook and draw some doodles. His older brother, Enjo, would often say not to waste paper or space since natural resources are limited in their world. Apparently, phones or other devices for their pleasure were banned a few years ago since they want their new generation to focus on their studies. They are like living in the future but in an old-fashioned way since advanced technologies might ruin their future and their living. Too many advanced technologies are bad for them. They were using their intelligence in making technologies that would make their lives convenient and not for their pleasure or happiness. “What are you writing earlier?” asked Lyn as they started to walk in the direction where the maze of glasses and mirrors were from. “Oh, this?” asked Benji while holding his pocket notebook to show what he wrote. “There are 25% of basic calculations and explanations,” he explained. “And 75% of doodles and drawings,” he joked as he turned the next page with a lot of his masterpiece. Lyn looked at his pocket notebook and stared at it since the art style looked like what she saw in another world where she was living. She saw it in a random house of someone where she first met Benji and Enjo. The other notebook from another world was obviously from Benji and they were temporarily living or staying there for a long time. She never thought that he was good at drawing and painting. He was so good at painting and drawing but unfortunately drawing, painting, or expressing someone’s feelings through art were also banned from their world since the ruler said that they should focus on their studies instead of wasting their time on drawing or painting. It was also said that they wouldn’t have a brighter or successful future if they focus themselves on what makes them happy. “I told you not to do that here, Benji,” warned Enjo to his brother. “Do what?” asked Lyn to Enjo with confusion. She looked at Enjo, looking straight on their way, without emotions that could be read on his face. Benji was walking in front of them to lead the way since he knows where to turn in every way they walked by. Enjo really knows the way since he could easily memorize the direction without writing down notes and that is his strength which is Lyn and Benji’s liabilities. “There is nothing wrong with it,” whispered Lyn to herself while they were walking. “You don’t know anything about this world,” said Enjo to her since he heard what she said. “Your world is different from ours so you don’t have the right to say that,” he continued. “No need to be rude to my bestie,” replied Benji to his brother with annoyance that could be obviously seen on his face. They were near the plain wall where Lyn found her odd reflection earlier. She thought that her future self was her right now and she would look and act like the odd reflection to her past self later. After a long minute of them walking, they already passed the only plain wall. They entered the room that was like where Lyn was in earlier but there is no maze of glasses and mirrors here so basically they are on the other side of the world. “Now we wait for 6:45 am,” said Benji while looking at his old-fashioned watch on his right arm. He quickly grabbed his pocket notebook and opened it so he could write down the time. “We’re both lefties,” mentioned Lyn since she noticed that Benji was writing down notes with his left hand and his watch was on his right arm. Benji smiled and looked at her because she noticed small details of him while Enjo was bored looking at them both but deep inside he feels like he wanted to say something and he feels something was not right.
