Chapter 15

1097 Words
A few days have passed yet no one tried to reach Lyn. It was dark and quiet. The raindrops slowly falling echoed in the jail. The silence was so loud and the only thing that Lyn could see in a jail cave was the light reflecting on a puddle outside. She never had been scared in her own life. This experience was traumatizing for her since it feels like she felt it before. The feeling of being abandoned and left alone in a dark room. “Hey!” the guard shouted at Lyn. He pointed the flashlight at her to catch her attention. Lyn was still looking down because she didn’t want to see his face. It seems like being alone is much better for her. She always questions herself about what she did to deserve this kind of treatment from them. Of course, Lyn doesn’t have a single clue on the answer of her question so this time, she earned all of her strength and confidence to look up at the guard’s eyes. The guard saw her looking at him intimidatingly. “What?” he asked as soon as he threw down the plate with a few pieces of cookies. “Why am I stuck here and why are you treating me like this?” she asked while still looking straight at his eyes. Until now, Lyn still doesn’t know the reason why she was in this cave with metal rails. She tried to look confused but from the guard’s point of view, Lyn looked intimidating and unsympathetic about her situation right now. After Lyn innocently asked a question, his blood started to boil, but he did his best not to take his anger out on her. Queen Elisa ordered the guards not to touch or hurt her unless she said so. Time flies so fast and Lyn didn’t even notice since she was stuck in this cave for a long time, starving her and slowly making her feel the physical and emotional pain. She already lost count of the days when she last saw Enjo and Benji. A few pieces of expired bread with some molds on the sides are her only breakfast. Ripping the molded sides of the bread and eating the white fluffy part of it is her favorite. “Let us in,” someone said calmly. “You heard him,” another familiar voice of someone Lyn knows said. It seems like there is a commotion not far from Lyn’s jail. Her lazy and bored eyes widened as soon as she realized that someone she knows is there for her to meet her. It’s been ages. The feeling of being loved and remembered came back. Even though she frequently forgot everything and her memories are blurred, she doesn’t forget about her friends who helped her travel through time and space. Enjo and Benji are the reason why Lyn’s life is ruined yet she doesn’t even realize it. Lyn earned all of her strength before standing up. Everything went blurry for a second so she closed her eyes but then she lost her strength and she felt dizzy like everything is a dream so she let her body rest. Enjo heard someone fall so he had no time to talk with the guards, guarding a few feets from the jail where Lyn was in. “I know she is here,” said Benji while looking at them uninterestedly. “Please do not step any closer in this area,” said the guard calmly. Benji was busy distracting the guards so while they hadn't noticed Enjo, he took the opportunity to secretly go inside. The place was messy and it looks like this is where their trash ends up because there are a lot of boxes stocked here and the past inventions that he made are all around the place. He tried to call Lyn but no one answered back. It was confusing since the cave was blocked by those boxes. He saw his rejected invention that he made for his project in school which he called is as the “Ruoculous”. It is a technology that can be injected. It helps them have enough stamina and to be immune to other diseases. There are a lot of advantages to this invention. They can even have a higher IQ than normal people if they had been injected by it. It was really helpful yet it was rejected by the head of their school since they thought that he was cheating and he used someone’s idea about it. He still doesn’t know who used his idea until now. “Lyn?” he tried to call her name again. “Young man, I’m afraid you cannot go any further,” the other guard said. Enjo thought that Benji took all of the attention of the guards. It seems like there are three guards overall. From what the guard looked like, Benji noticed that he looked uninterested in his job and it seemed like he could just beat him up but he decided to choose another decision so he stepped back and followed what the guard said. He plans to know the guard more and to be friends with him. “What is your name?” asked Enjo while they were walking away from the cave. “Sha- uh… My name is Leo,” he simply answered his question. They were heading to a different exit so they will not add more problems to the commotion on the entrance where Benji is. Enjo looked at Leo and he paid attention to every move he made because he was interested in knowing his background. Leo is a bit odd for Enjo because he doesn’t look manly and it seems like his face is familiar to him. “What about your name?” asked Leo while chewing his gum loudly. “You don’t know me?” asked Enjo back. “I would not ask for your name if I know it,” he answered, without knowing that Enjo is the first son of Elisa. His attitude is really different from the other guards that Enjo met. He looks thin and can easily be defeated by someone but his attitude and the way he speaks sound brave and confident. As soon as Leo noticed Enjo stopped, he looked back and he saw his confused face. Enjo looked at him and his confused face turned into a shocked face. He was shocked as he noticed and heard about what was happening at the entrance. “Benji…” he muttered.
