Chapter 11 Interested

I change my facial expressions, gone the trace of familiarity. I drink my wine a bit to loosen my nerves then look at the man in front of me straight.

"Can I know the gentleman's name who's sitting in front of me? Do I know you by any chance?" Tinitigan niya ako ng mabuti na parang binabasa ang aking pagkatao.

"Why, is the seat taken? Are you waiting for someone?" He has this smug expression that made me shiver pero di ako magpatalo sa kanya. I had to put an act as well.

"No but sometimes a lady just wants to be alone and enjoy herself." Balik kong sabi at tinitigan din siya.

His expression change, he had this sly smile on his face now. Ano kaya ang balak ng taong ito.

"Ohh that's sad coz this place is meant to enjoy with someone and I'm a good company." He said it while smirking. He is in the game at kailangan kong sa bayan yun.

"Really? Are you luring me mister to accompany you? What can you offer then?"

"Oh nothing special, perhaps a good conversation with a beautiful lady like you and just enjoying the night like others."

"Sounds interesting. Then may I know your name?"

"I'm Andrew and yours?" His flirty tone is visible.

"It's Adie." I'm sipping my wine again. Would you like a drink Andrew? It's awkward drink alone while you are not."

"Yeah sure but I would like to get more for us" He called the waiter and ordered another bottle of red wine.

I remembered Miles word that once Andrew came to my side I should dominate the conversation, leaving him no choice but to answer my query.

"So Andrew since you insist of accompanying me, it's better to know each other right?" He nods at me. "So tell me about yourself and what's makes you came into this place?"

"I'm a businessman by trade, I enjoyed few drinks with friends and I'm single as well."

"Ah so you're ready to mingle. Is that why you approaches me because you want to flirt with me?"

"Well Adie, one of my character is I won't waste time if somebody catches my attention." He smirked a bit, he knows nacorner niya ako.

"So, you saw me as your prey tonight? What's in me that catches you?" Challenge ko din sa kanya.

"I see a beautiful woman, very gorgeous in fact but a beauty without a sense is nothing. I would like to know the woman beneath the beauty she's hiding and if her character enough to impress me."

Miles is good in his portrayal and really good at words. He knows kung saan ako makukuha.

"Well that takes time, patience and courage for a man to get to know better of the woman he's interested and takes connection, gut and trust for a woman to open up to that man given the limited time."

"Then I'm willing to wait and spend my resources just to unravel the beauty I admire. After all I'm not just after of the beauty but it's the character, soul and connection of the woman I'm interested with."

"That's deep mister. Do you think that's a little bit fast for a first time seeing each other?"

"No, it's natural to express your intention at first when you see some potential and start from there. Better be upfront rather than circling around when your interested."

Is this really what Andrew behave in real life or it is just Miles way? Because he is really good at words and how to take a woman. Palagi akong nakokorner.

"If it doesn't work at first glance or few words exchanging then no time is wasted, don't you agree?" Napapatango nalang ako sa kawalang masabi. I need to stand back and recollect myself.

"So this is your hang out place?" Segway ko sa usapan. The topic felt so heavy already.

"Oh you're diverting the topic miss. Are you not ready to get into the bottom?" Di ako nagsasalita muna. I sip my wine again. Na sense siguro niya na gusto kong takasan ang topic.

He speak again.

"I often come here to talk to my friends and for business but I'm not always."

"Dito mo ba name-meet ang mga babaing nalilink sayo?" This question is not just intended to Andrew but also for Miles. I wanna about his life sa di halata na paraan.

"I didn't know na kilala mo na pala ako for you to say na may nalilink sa akin. Your being judgmental miss. But to answer your question, no."

"Why not, with your looks for sure maraming lumalapit sayo."

"Yeah but it doesn't mean I like them back. Just happened that I like you that's why I come to you." Di ko alam if he speaking for Andrew or he is speak for himself.

"So your saying na di ka ladies man? Di ka babaero?" I keep pushing the topic.

"I admit I'm a ladies man, ladies flock to my way to get my attention but it still up to me if I choose to be with them. I valued my time, my self and my privacy so I only hook up with the person I want. In my opinion di ako babaero."

I can't figure out kung gawa gawa lang ito ni Miles base sa ugali ni Andrew or simply his words. Di ko pwedeng gawing basihan ito, after all its just an act.

"So Miles katulad ka ba din ni Andrew? How he talks, how he behaves dahil I tell you kuhang kuha mo ang loob ko and for sure most woman do." I need to break from our act.

"What do you think Dia, marami ka pang di alam sa akin. Do not confused me into someone else. I'm a person of my own self." Tinitigan niya ako ng maigi that made me shivers.

"Totoo Miles di kita kilala in deeper level. Kung ano ang ipinakita ko sa akin yun lang ang alam ko pero di ko rin alam kung yun ba ang totoo."

There's no point in sugar coating in my words. He is my friend and the only person na close sa akin ngayon.

"What you saw in me is the real me Dia. You are the first one that I let my self known. Do you want to know me better?"

Nabigla man pero tumango ako. Sympre gusto ko siyang makilalang lubos. I feel Miles ay isang malalim na tao at maraming sekreto.

"If you want to know me then know me well Dia. Be brave and open up yourself to me as well. I promise di ka magsisi."

I just look at him, suddenly biglang di ko alam ang gagawin. He could be a distractions sa aking plano pero he is the only person can help me too. My way to Andrew.

"Come on let's go home. It's getting late already." Wika pa ni Miles sabay hawak sa aking kamay. Nagpatangay nalang ako sa kanya.

We were quiet for sometime sa sasakyan niya. He is driving us home.

"Dia, are you still up to sa plano natin na road trip this Sunday?" Sabi niya out of the blue.

"Yeah if you are still into it pero kung busy wag nalang din. Ayaw kong maistorbo ang schedule mo. I have been disturbing you enough."

"Nonsense, I enjoyed my time with you. So this Sunday ako ang bahala sa lahat."

Then he park the car in front of my house. Nakarating na pala kami ng di namalayan.

"Goodnight Dia. I enjoyed our conversation tonight."

Yeah tonight was a different kind of night. I was surprised na aking abilidad sa makipag usap sa isang tao.

"By the way you passed the trial. You even excel. Well done Dia." A simple words pero it brings pride to myself. Tonight is worth to be remembered for sure.
