Chapter Five

Chapter Five: Going the extra mile to continue to afford being a fugitive, but just how lucky will I be?

heart was in tatters and I knew I had not prepared myself enough for what was going to happen next!

I knew I should have turned my phone off or just put it on silent, but with all of yesterday's events, my mind was just too occupied with thoughts that did not just revolve around this day....my birthday!

Indeed the day was here, and my loud ringtone was sure reminding me. It was Chloe calling and of course she probably wanted to be the first one to wish me a happy birthday, but doing it at dawn was just a bit much!

I let the phone ring till she had given up. I could not let her know that I was doing the exact opposite of what her and Julia wanted me to be doing because they were definitely not going to let me be. Whether I was sick, depressed or just in a mood to be nesting in my house, they were going to try and coax me into going to some sick party and probably feed me the alcohol this time around!

I turned to my other side and tried to get back to sleep but the next call, from Julia came and interrupted me!

Fine! I will wake up!

I was going to have to get up anyway to make my "tea" that is supposed to help me on this day more than any other. I would also be taking a bath in some really strong scents that wolves were sensitive to to make my natural smell disappear, as much as it could anyway!

I did my routine much earlier because going back to sleep was no longer an option, and for some reason, I could not stop imagining that monster coming for me. Right in this house!

After my bath, I felt like a walking perfume store, and ir was not as pleasant as it sounded! The smells were strong enough to give me a throbbing headache, and I had to keep them on all day and all night, until red moon was over!

After the texts came flooding, I decided it was better to just lie to the girls and tell them I had a shift tonight!

I had found myself a job to supplement whatever shady business my mother does and of course so I could afford my own needs and make savings. I was a club hostess, and as of late, I had signed up for fewer shifts because it was just not a job for my personality anyway!

"I have to work today! Can you imagine the audacity of that pot-bellied man?! I am so sorry! We can always celebrate later though!" I sent the text in our group chat, not forgetting to surround every statement with a bunch of emojis that were just too extra and dramatic to make it more....realistic?

I knew the girls had classes today anyway, and both till very late so I would not have to worry about them rocking up at my house or at the club till later! And I would cross that f*****g bridge whenever the f**k I get to it!

I had survived the entire day and most of the evening already! I heard a knock on my door and I rose from my bed to open it for the first time since I did my routine to hide my smell.

"Mom wants to talk to you!" My sister, Elba, informed me and walked away as soon as she had finished delivering her message.

She was my only sibling, at least the only one that I knew of! I wished we had a better relationship but since I moved into the house and met her for the first time, we just never got along. I guess she had her own issues to deal with and hates people anyway, but I was hoping to be excluded!

As soon as I arrived in the kitchen, she was waiting for me.

"When are you going to tell her? She turns eighteen in a week!" I did not even bother asking how she was doing or whatever, or why she wanted to speak to me. I just had to know when she was going to tell her that she was not fully human either!

Immediately after having me, my mother had to flee from the werewolf lands because of some atrocity she had committed. She bagged herself a warlock and had my sister with him, commited an atrocity that left her with no other option but to flee from that situation as well!

I was not bothered about asking her for an explanation as much as I was when we reconnected, because she would never say so anyway! I was bothered by the fact that she was feeding Elba medication to mask and suppress what half of her was, and unlike me, she was not aware!

"I told you to stop asking me that question!" She rolled her eyes and began searching the cupboards like she was actually looking for something.

"After she turns eighteen, you have a few days before I tell her myself!" I threatened and her head turned to reveal the most threatening stare!

"Don't you dare! I will tell her when I want to! That is my daughter, not yours!" She had her voice surprisingly raised. And as though I had warned her about that, she cleared her throat and lowered it to a whisper.

"Why are you here anyway, moving around like a lazy bug? Go to college or something, unless you want your scholarship to end!" She narrowed her eyes and I rolled mine.

Wow!

Just wow!

The woman did not even remember her daughter's birthday! Last year, she was still in the mode of winning me over to apologise for being absent for an entire 18 years but since my previous birthday, she just grew tired of pretending to be who she is not!

"No reason! Because I can maybe?" I already had my back turned as I spoke the words.

"Come back here!" She yelled and I just kept walking away. I did not need to be frustrated today!

I walked back into my room and as soon as I got in, she left. I heard the front door slamming shut and only laughed.

How dramatic can she be?!

If she was not going to spend the night elsewhere, like she usually did already, then she was going to meet up with her gossip friend from next door and talk s**t about whichever target they will choose!

I was surprised when the door opened less than a minute later. Maybe she just needed some air to calm herself down?

Or whatever...I just did not care!

She was walking around the kitchen for some time when I became a bit suspicious.

The footsteps were so loud and heavy, they had to be coming from a large reef or something similar! And secondly, I was just not sure that the wooden floor was being walked on by just one person anymore!

Maybe she brought her mystery boyfriend to the house at last?

I did not want to think anything bad could be happening, but I tip-toed to my bedroom door anyway to investigate.

I had not even pressed my head against the wood to listen in when the door was swung open in one big push, and I landed on the floor!

"What the f**k?!" I yelled and looked up to see one of the last things I wanted to see.

Two really tall men were in my room, looking down at me. I could not see their faces because they were concealed but the built just told me they were really strong men, and I was so sure that they were here to take me back to that horrible place.

One of them placed a finger on their lips to tell me to stay quiet and that is when I began pleading!

"Please!" I whispered and the other one gave himself a facepalm before bending over to grab me.

I screamed but that just gave them the chance to stuff a cloth in my mouth and seal my lips with tape to keep the cloth in.

"Shut up or you will choke on it!" One of them warned and tears began rolling down my cheeks. I did not recognise his voice but I knew wht the two of them were here.

What had I done wrong? All I did was stay home, I completed my routine too. What was I not able to do this time around?

To say I was devastated would be belittling my emotions!

I was distraught, furious with myself and terrified for my life! They were taking me back to that ruthless Alpha and there was clearly nothing I could do.

In no time at all, both my legs and hands were heavily wrapped around with tape and I was being carried out of the house.

The last thing I saw in the house was my sister walking to a different room, headphones in and completely oblivious of what was happening!

I never even got to tell her that I love her!

I was crying a whole river at this point, a silent and painful cry! And it did not stop! Even after they shoved me into the trunk of a car and drove off with me. My heart was in tatters and I knew I had not prepared myself enough for what was going to happen next!
