Ruthba Rahil and Rushda Rahil....though they were sisters, their choices contraindicated in everything, as in poles apart!
Except maybe in Career choice ?
where Rushda wanted to be a model......she had huge obsessions with american models such as Naomi Campbell, Bella/Gigi Hadid etc.....Ruthba wants to be a great fashion designer since she was really good at making innovative clothes,
where Rushda, was fair as in a very prominent and ocular and very very beautiful heart shaped face,...
she was bold, outgoing, materialistic....
sometimes very very frank to the point of rudeness,... sometimes even Insiyaa couldn’t think of surpassing that limit. She'd often discuss---talk about it infront of Ruthba and Amma and they both were against it, furiously.
Ruthba however, has a soft pink face, light brown eyes with long lashes, she was little meek, always obedient and silent,
"acchi ghar ke auratein aisa kaam kabhi ni kiya karte" Jubeyda Amma said with a horrified expression
[ this is not a career choice of a modest woman, what will people think! ]
"you are so backdated" Rushda snapped
"rushee, daade se is tarah baat mat karo... yah kabhe bhee puraane jamaane ya roodhivaadee hone ke baare mein nahin hai, rushee...Islam mein har mahila ko svatantr hone ka adhikaar hai, tum yah jaanatee ho, lekin aap apane sharir dikha rahe hain, Logon ke saamane khud ko is tarah ujaagar karana --- tum jaanate hain ki fashion industries ke log kitane nirdayee hain, unmen koi emaanadaaree nahin hai, ..... aap kuchh haasil karana chaahate hain to kam se kam ek achchha kariyar chunen jahaan log tumhare shareer par nazar na daalen!"
[ Rushi don't talk to Dadi like that.....It’s never about being backdated or being conservative, Rushi.....every woman have that right to be independent in Islam, you know that, but you showing your skin, exposing yourself like that infront of men --- you know how ruthless fashion industry peoples are, they have no integrity,.....you want to achieve something then choose at least a decent career where men would not ogle at your body! ]
"and what about when you will design clothes,..huh ?" Rushda yelled at her
"I've a clear vision of what i want to be and what i want to make....Rushi, yes! i want to be a designer but those clothes doesn’t have to be exposing"
Rushda was the elder sister as you all know......thing is she was eldest among of all the 5 of the Children in Raichand havelli,......elder than Ruthba and Rahat and Shawkat and Insiyaa!
So, she kind of had authority of some kind......among them
"whatever" She muttered

"Rahat stop this nonsense.....can you not see, we are different" She growled in frustration
"how exactly...why don't you--"
"you are younger than me Rahat.....5 years at that, it's awkward"
"i don't have any problem" He shrugged
"i do....and that's beside the point that i don't want it,...."
"can you not even try at least"
"get over your infatuation Rahat and stop bothering me, please and leave me alone"
Rahat Raichand was remembering those words......while driving home from office. Those were the words she said months ago when Amma was still alive!
infatuation.....she said!
he felt bad.....
no!
he felt humiliated when she didn’t give him the reaction he was expecting when he proposed Rushda, he thought if he would ask Amma directly for her hands in marriage she would agree but she straight cut refused even then
why did it bother her.....their age difference, when it never bothered him!

Shawkat got a little hint of what was happening around via Insiyaa.....she'd tell him everything every now and then!
He wasn’t really surprised when he heard his elder brother liked Rushda and asked for Amma's permission to marry her AND was more shocked when he heard that Rushda refused to marry him.
She is always very image conscious.....them Raichands' being revert was not good for her precious image!
she was quite popular in College he heard,.....and a famous bully!
since she was beautiful and was good student, she'd bully anyone, especially young students.
it may be was the atmosphere around her of some kind......she was always so mean and rude and bitter! but she only suppressed those qualities infront of Amma in fear mostly!
but yes! it would come out time and again..... so many times he noticed her open dislike towards Insiyaa when they were young, she'd always make her cry and then pretend like nothing happened...,
speaking of her, Thank Almighty that he had no idea about this, Rahat wouldn’t have like that they were discussing Rushda's behaviour.
yep! he was egotistical that way
Ruthba knew enough to not to let it out!
there was time when Shawkat heard about some conversation where little miss arrogant wanted to go on a one day College trip planned by the students and Amma wouldn’t give permission nor the money, since it was quite expensive,.....
next day she vanished herself for a whole day and there was money missing, she broke Ruthba's piggy bank, Amma was furious and Ruthba was upset but she still forgave her and nothing reached Baba's ear and maybe neither did it reached Rahat's......
Ruthba always acted like a peacemaker whenever her sister did something she should not have.....She always acted like a mature elder sister
According to him.....Rushda never felt at home here, she always had this idea that them Raichand's were pitying her,.....her and her sister and her grand mother.
in a way, May be!
after all she was quite at least 6 or 7 maybe when they came to India, but still.....he didn’t think they ever expressively had done anything that made her despise them!
may be some people are like that......they just don't know how to appreciate!
to be honest he didn't understand what Rahat ever saw in her, why would he ever like a girl like her, ......he didn’t want to sound like an A**hole but she was bad as in he couldn’t even describe in what way,
but she was!
she was the reddest of all the red flag among girls here......according to many in society!
she would have never understand or make any effort to keep Rahat happy.....according to him Rahat needs someone who would keep him grounded!
someone who would understand him.....someone who would at least try to lessen the pressure Rahat always felt as an elder son!

Dadi was so happy and relaxed when Rahat asked Rushda's hand in marriage but at that moment Ruthba felt like her heart broke into tiny little pieces......and the next Dadi's relax mode was gone down the hill when Rushda straight up refused Rahat infront of everyone on dining table.
it was like Ruthba herself felt embarrassed.....she could only imagine how Rahat must have felt!
did her stupid sister realise just what she did....would she ever realise the loss ?
Her loss
she was getting something that Ruthba had always wanted.....Rahat Raichand's love
that too she was getting without even asking.
without praying for it every night in Salah
yes!
as years passed by Ruthba grew up and she realised she fell for him, but he wouldn’t even notice her, he only had eyes for Rushda.....
But alas! Rushda never cared!
she had no idea how fortunate she was!
she could have been happy....
Raichands' never treated them 3 as outsiders.....
tears escaped her eyes thinking about what happened 4 months ago and what happened to them......!
Now they actually have nobody......
Now they were truly two orphan girls!
she really just hoped that everything was a nightmare, she'd just wake up and all of these will vanish.....
but no, she knew this was reality!
if this she thought was cruel than she had no idea how much more yet to come!
their life was about to change......
with one.abrupt.decision!
