Chapter One: Are You A Man Or A Monster?
Eyrx's Point of View The vampire-werewolf hybrid dashed swiftly through the ancient forest, her long, wild hair streaming behind her like a dark cloak beneath the moonlit sky. Each strand seemed to sync with her movements, mirroring her dual essence with a fierce and feral energy. As she raced through the thick undergrowth, her hair mirrored her predatory essence, flowing gracefully in an ethereal manner. It swayed elegantly with every twist and turn, ensnaring the moonlight in its dark, cascading strands. Her hair swept over the ancient trees as she moved, causing leaves to rustle behind her as she hunted her prey with fierce determination. Amidst the intensity of her chase, there was a strange beauty about her, an enchanting grace that masked the lurking danger within. Deep within the heart of the forest, surrounded by twisted roots and ancient whispers, she approached her target. She moved in for the final strike, her hair swirling like a storm of darkness and longing. As she leaped, her hair fell around her like a mysterious veil, a perfect cloak for the predator within her. The vampire-werewolf attacked with fierce and fearless movements, taking down each operative one by one, driven by an intoxicating rage. Many beings have passed through this old forest, but none have ever compared to her. I found myself wondering about her name. Her captivating dark eyes, flowing black hair, and stunning face were remarkable. The athletic build of the vampire-werewolf hybrid was suggestive of both strength and femininity, with curves, ample breasts, and broader hips. Her larger breasts were well-proportioned to her body, enhancing her overall shape without being disproportionate or hindering her athletic performance. My beauty's wider hips contributed to her curves and provided stability and power, essential for activities requiring lower body strength and agility. I wondered what it would be like to ravish it, with her writhing in pleasure underneath me or pressed up against a tree as I thrust into her while she screamed out my name. It had been so long since I had encountered a soul that awakened my carnal nature. I wanted her. Desperately. I couldn't help but wonder if she could sense my presence. She was stunning, a symbol of death itself. I always preferred to remain hidden from all creatures except the forest guardian. Yet, I found myself wanting the attention of this vampire-werewolf hybrid. She was mesmerizing, and her dark allure completely entranced me. No one in the Dark Moon pack of werewolves or the nearby human communities knew of my existence. Aralia has always protected me, ensuring I had everything I needed to survive. When I interacted with the forest guardian, I preferred my human form, but when I hunted for food, I let the demon within me take over. My towering, skeletal figure, heart of ice, and glowing eyes frightened most people. In this form, I craved flesh and relentlessly hunted and devoured those unfortunate souls who crossed my path. My transformation wasn't a choice, as my mother turned into a creature due to her greed and a bite from an infected individual. Aralia raised me as her own, and unlike others of my kind, I have control over my thirst for blood. Though I have the power to infect others with evil, I am not inclined to do so. As the vampire-werewolf hybrid approached the magical border of the Dark Moon pack, she was unaware of one of the remaining operatives from the Hunter Foundation holding a sniper rifle and aiming at her. I could smell the silver and wolfsbane in the bullets, and I knew that intervening was risky. However, I raced forward, pushing her through the magical border, but it was too late. One of the bullets struck the vampire-werewolf hybrid. As soon as she crossed the border, she collapsed. More gunshots rang out as she lay there helpless. In a fury, I launched myself at the operative, dragging him off and tearing the operative limb from limb with my claws. He didn't even have a chance to scream, though the pure terror on his face when he realized what had taken him appeased me. I was an incredibly stealthy hunter with enhanced senses and the ability to hunt in complete darkness. He hadn't stood a chance. While preparing to eliminate the remaining operatives in my line of sight, I noticed that one of the werewolves from the Dark Moon pack had also spotted the woman I was trying to protect. Luna Jo, a powerful werewolf, used her abilities to manipulate the air around us and redirect the bullets. As a result, the bullets that were meant for the vampire-werewolf hybrid hit the operatives instead, causing them to die instantly and fall to the ground. Aralia and her mate, Wesley, approached the enigmatic figure who had fallen after breaching the magical barrier. The forest guardian knelt to check for a pulse and then glanced up, seeing me watching. Aralia's expression was filled with surprise. The forest guardian discreetly motioned for me to hide and directed Wesley to inspect the symbol on the figure's arm. I could see with my exceptional vision the rune resembled the one the Moon Goddess had bestowed upon Aralia to navigate the magical barrier safely. As Wesley gently lifted the figure, it became apparent that they recognized the vampire-werewolf was a woman whom a gunshot had wounded. I noticed additional operatives closing in on Aralia and her mate, with their guns aimed at them. Just as I was about to intervene, Luna Jo used her power over the air to lift them up and swiftly transport them into the trees, causing the operatives to become unconscious. While Luna Jo created this diversion, I quickly cared for the remaining operatives. Luna Jo would believe that it was the warriors from her pack who did this, but Aralia would be able to tell that it was me. From the determined expression on her face, I could sense that the forest guardian would seek me out for an explanation. I stood at a safe distance and watched as Luna Jo used the power of nature to stop the bleeding, extract the bullet, and transform the wound into a small scar. I could not pass through the magical barrier since I was not a werewolf and had not been blessed by Selene. I longed to gain favor with the Moon Goddess to do so. I felt strongly attracted to the vampire-werewolf hybrid and couldn't look away as I saw two figures approach her from the packhouse. "Thank you for coming," Luna Jo greeted the newcomers. "Do you recognize this young woman?" Luna Jo inquired, stepping aside to give the female werewolf who had just joined them a clearer view. "Crypta, why are you here? And why the operative's outfit?" she exclaimed. Crypta was the name of my beauty, dark and enchanting like the vampire-werewolf hybrid herself. "I thought I would help. I was bored. And, if anything happened to you, Adrian would be devastated," Crypta groaned. Who was Adrian to her? My heart burned with jealousy at the way Crypta said his name. "I'm sorry, Luna. I didn't know you. It was better to play possum until Rogue arrived. However, your handsome mate was correct about the damage those bullets can cause. Thank you for saving my life," Crypta said. I was relieved to know that Luna Jo had healed Crypta. As I turned to leave, I heard Luna Jo inquire about the operatives' bodies. I knew that Aralia would want me to dispose of them, and it would be my pleasure. The forest guardian's response to Luna Jo surprised me. She was speaking to me while answering Luna Jo's question. "Jo, there are various creatures that reside in the forest, and some of them have dark tendencies. However, you need not worry; the bodies will be removed before morning light," Aralia comforted Luna Jo. "I am the guardian of all the beings that inhabit this forest. Every creature, irrespective of their nature, is valued and respected." "If only the rest of the world functioned similarly," Luna Jo whispered while chewing her lip. "If only," Aralia replied, her eyes filling with sadness. Her eyes met mine in the distance, and then she looked at Crypta. The forest guardian had often encouraged me to seek out a companion myself, reminding me that my curse was not of my own making and that I deserved love, too. But how would Crypta see me? Would she see a man or a monster? .
