Book 1 Chapter 7 Trial

King Rafes POV

As Jadeite curled up into my lap I realized I havent felt this complete since I last held Jasmine in my arms. I pull my little Gem closer elated that she doesn't seem to mind. I whisper to her "my little Gem I am going to continue the trial. You may stay on my lap however long you desire. The Queens Throne is now yours as well so you may also move there whenever you'd like. You may not go sit next to Jake he is not nor has he ever been your Alpha." I snarl the last part. She just smiled up at me and nodded before shoving her face back into my chest. I just smile at her.

"Sorry about that ladies and gentlemen. We have just received proof through a blood test that Jessica is in fact my daughter. Now let's proceed with the trial. Jake here has been accused of the worst sin towards the Moon as well as towards his fated Goddess Marked Luna. Now it has been reported that he was unfaithful towards the Moon laws first. He bedded as many women as he could before he even found his marked Luna. Instead of rising above it like several Alphas do he ignored his gifted mate, left her unmarked, unprotected, and uncared for. He barely let her eat, she doesn't have any clothes and the ones she does have are second hand. He gave her a room right next to his so she could not only feel her mates betrayal multiple times a day but she could hear it and sometimes see it as well. They were not even in the castle for 20 minutes and she sat here in pain from betrayal silently. I watched as the bruising rapidly formed on her delicate skin and around her plush lips. This is a crime of the highest degree. No true Alpha has ever acted like this and will never be able to act like this while the Moons Laws are followed. What do you have to say for yourself Jake."

He became paler and paler as I listed his crimes. I enjoyed watching him squirm like the tiny worm he was. The entire room has gone completely quiet. I look around and see most of the Alphas are close to half shifts because they are so enraged at the way Jake treated his mate. Most of the Lunas are extremely pale.

Some look extremely beaten down like they can understand what my daughter has been going through. Looks like we will have more killings this year. Luckily for the Lunas they won't find a second chance until next year. That gives their hearts time to mourn and heal.

My daughter, though she will get a second chance this time around. I am sure of it. I can see the way Alpha Rhys is looking at her. He lost his mate the same time I lost my Jasmine. He had just met her and never got the chance to love her. If he is my daughter's second chance I would be happy with that. He is a good Alpha who didn't falter long when Carly died. He stayed true and is still one of the only untouched Alphas out there. The Moon Goddess would surely bless him soon.

" She was impure when I met her. She's a lowly orphan who doesn't deserve to be a Luna! I demand to see the proof you have against me" Jake screamed angrily.

I just smiled until I saw Jadeite start to shrink back from Jake from the corner of my eye. I saw red!

"Do. Not. Look. At. Her." I spit every word like a sentence. "You want to see our proof ok then. You will see how much more intelligent Luna Jade" I turn my head to her quickly

"May I call you Jade?" A smile and a nod was all I needed to continue "is than you pup. Not only do we have proof we have many witnesses including the w***e from tonight who was stationed just right for you to take her bait. Not only do I have a blood test proving Luna Jade as my daughter not the lowly orphan you called her but I have medical reports from her doctor proving your statement about her purity wrong. I also have doctors reports and pictures of the multiple times she went to the doctor riddled with bruises, bleeding, and barely able to stand from malnutrition. Extremely pale from her lock up in the house and her wolf retreating from the treatment of her mate. Nightmare has spoken to Gemini Jade's wolf and Gemini confirms it all. She even says your wolf Shade egged this behavior on and continually shared images of you with other females from all species. It's downright disgusting and evil. You and your wolf are not Alpha material and therefore are sentenced to death for your grave crimes. Anyone else have anything to add?" I ask as I survey the room.

Jake is slumped over in defeat. He is definitely not Alpha material any other Alpha would try to at least fight. He's not even going to die honorably.

Alpha Rhys pops up and says "High King Rafe I believe a whipping before death is needed. This kind of behavior needs to be eradicated before it even begins. Luna Jadeite could take the numbing potion so she does not feel his pain and he could be whipped before he dies."

I admire this young man. He is thinking critically as well as thinking about Jade's well-being. He just might be her future mate and I would be glad if he was.

"I agree Alpha Rhys. Guards bring a healer for Luna Jadeite. Request the mate bond numbing potion. I also need the silver tipped tri-tailed whip. Alpha Rhys is going to give us a demonstration on what happens to Alphas who abuse their Goddess given gift." I order the guards to get what I need as I see Alpha Rhys's stunned face. It quickly changes to determination.

Yes, I would certainly like for Alpha Rhys to be Jade's second chance. Maybe I can get a second chance with lots of grandkids? At that thought, I smile widely while staring down Jake.
