Chapter 9 Ryder It's nearly midnight and the hospital is as quiet as a cemetery. My sister is going to be okay, but I can't leave here without seeing her first. It's been months since the last time I saw her and unfortunately, she was fighting for her life that time too. Only that time was my fault. I push the door open and it makes a loud creaking sound. I quietly close it shut behind me and cross the room, moving the chair in the corner closer to Mia's bed. She opens her eyes and blinks a couple of times as if she's surprised to see me. "Ryder? What are you doing here?" "My little sister almost died. Did you really think I wouldn't come running?" She continues to stare at me in shock. It's been months since we last saw each other and my impromptu visit has its desired reaction.
