Chapter 8

2033 Words
I open my eyes and panic when I don’t recognise my surroundings. ‘Oh, right. I am in a motel.’ I tell myself. ‘It’s time to wake up.’ Sky says and I let out a yawn and sit up on the bed. I look at my phone ignoring the missed calls from Chris ,to see it’s already seven in the evening. ‘We slept a lot.’ I tell Sky. ‘Yeah, but you needed it, just eat something and you will have enough power for your fight today.’ She says and she is right. I go to the bathroom and take a fast shower. I dress up into comfortable clothes and leave the rest of my clothes here in the room since I plan on coming back. I pack my training clothes into my now empty backpack and head to the small dinner next to the motel. I didn’t even realise how hungry I was, only when I step into the dinner and the delicious smell hits my nose. ‘Heavenly.’ Sky says. I sit down by the window and order as much food as I can afford, Sky is right, I need the power for the fight if I want to do this on my own. “Wow, will you seriously eat all of that?” A familiar voice asks and now I know why the scent was familiar too, but I didn’t bother to look up before. “No, I will just watch them.” I tell him sarcastically. “Of course I plan on eating them, do you want some?” I ask him while I eat my fries. I don’t know if I can trust him yet, but he seems like a good guy and Sky didn’t growl at him either and anyway, I need that fighting job. “Why not, I wouldn’t want you to throw away the rest.” Daniel says and sits down with a smile. ‘He would be surprised how much we can eat.’ Sky says with a laugh. “What are you smiling about?” Daniel asks and I shrug my shoulders, I didn’t even realise that I was smiling. “Nothing, what are you doing here, by the way?” I ask him. “Well, I needed to drop something to Ma so I thought I will be nice and give you a lift to the club.” He says while he eats one of the burgers and grins at me with his mouth full of food. “That’s nice but you don’t have to.” I tell him. “Don’t worry about it, it’s hard to find the place anyway. It’s an illegal underground place.” He says. “In that case… thanks.” I tell him and continue eating. “Where are you from, by the way?” He asks and I shrug my shoulders. “Vancouver.” I tell him with a smile. “Oh, I didn’t see you around here before.” He says. “Well, I was living at the other side of the city.” I tell him. “Oh, that’s why.” He says. We made small talks while we are eating and when we finish we head out of the dinner. He walks towards a black Opel and I follow him. We get into the car and he starts driving. “Are you a fighter too?” I ask him. “Yes, I am. My friend owns the place. We used to hang out there a lot till ….” He trails off. “Till?” I ask him. “Till my friend needed to take over their family business last year. His dad retired so he passed the leader position to his son, even though he didn’t want it. We still hang out there but not as much as before.” He says and I nod my head. Everyone has their own problems, I don’t want to ask to many questions, then hopefully he won’t ask either. “We are here.” He says as he parks the car in the front of a nightclub. “Looks cool.” I tell him as I get out of the car an look at building in the front of us. “I know , right? I helped Damon with the design.” He says proudly. “Damon?” “Yeah, he is my friend, the owner. Come on, let’s go inside.” He says and we head into the building. The inside is just as cool as the outside of the place. Neon lights are everywhere, people are dancing and drinking. “Angel, this way.” Daniel calls out to me and I look at him to see him by a door with two bodyguards in the front of it and a sign ‘private’ craved into the door. I follow him through the door and there is a staircase behind it. We walk down the stairs till we reach a door what Daniel opens and I find myself in a place similar to the club upstairs but here is a fighting ring right in the middle. “Wow.” “Yeah, I know. Come on, I will show you the changing rooms. Your fight is in twenty minutes, you can change and stand there by the ring and wait for the announcer to call your name.” He says and I nod my head before heading into the changing room he pointed me to. * *** Damon’s POV *** * “Daniel, what took you so long?” I ask my best friend who shows up in our private booth one hour later than we agreed to. He has a stupid and smug grin on his face as he sits down beside me and turns towards the ring. “Sorry, but I needed to pick someone up by the motel.” He says while he is looking around like he is waiting for someone. “Who?” I ask him curiously, he is acting strange. “Angel.” He says, still grinning. “Funny coincidence, right?” He asks and I have no idea what the hell he is talking about. “What?” I ask him but he waves me off. “Whatever, you will see.” He says and I roll my eyes. I hate it when he does that. He starts to say something but he doesn’t finish it. “You are a bit stressed.” Roxy whispers into my ear seductively while she starts massaging my shoulders. It feels good so I just lean back in my seat with closed eyes and enjoy it without paying attention to anything. “There she is, look, look.” Daniel says excitedly and points to a….. who… the hell… is she? I look at the most beautiful woman I have ever seen. She is standing next to the ring in mini shorts and a white tank top. The booth is not too close to the ring and it has soundproof window walls around it, but even from here I can see how beautiful she is. I can’t take my eyes off of her, she attracts me like no one else before and I can see that I am not only the one since every men's eyes are on her. “Damon… Damon? Are you okay? Do you know her?” Daniel asks and he brings me out of my thoughts. “What? Who? No, I don’t, do you?” I ask him. “Well, you act like you do.” He teases me. “By the way I do know her, that’s why I was late, I needed to pick her up from the motel.” He says and I snap my head towards him. “Why? How do you know her?” I ask him impatiently. “Mom called and said there is a girl who wants to fight and she was asking about our poster what I give Ma to put up in the motel. I went there today morning and she was late so mom called her up and since she just woke up she asked me to go to her room.” He explains with a smug smile and I feel my blood starts boiling from jealousy and I have no idea why, this is the first time I feel this way towards Daniel, he is like a brother to me and I don’t even know that girl, what’s wrong with me? “So she opened the door and I thought that I died when I saw her. She just woke up but she was the most beautiful girl I have ever seen. I told her to come here at 9 but I couldn’t wait to see her again and since I needed to drop something to Ma, I offered her a ride.” He says and I just stare at her as she is standing by the ring with a bored expression on her face. “Imagine when I found her by Lenny’s, having dinner by herself. The table was full with food, that girl can eat, I am telling you.” He says with a laugh and I grab his T-shirt what shuts him up right away. “Did something happened between you two?” I ask him angrily and he holds his hands up in surrender. “What the hell…? No, dude. What’s wrong with you?” He asks and I let out a sigh of relief while I let him go. “Sorry man, I don’t know what’s wrong with me.” I tell him and lift my glass of whiskey to my lips but stop it with a frown and sniff it. Did maybe someone put something in my drink and that’s why I am acting like a lunatic? I put the glass back onto the table and turn to Roxy. “Please get me a glass of juice.” I tell her. She looks at me strangely but do as I asked and leaves the booth. “It’s okay, you work too much man.” He says and before I can answer, he talks again. “She is the next.” He says and I look at the ring to see her standing in the red corner. “What is she doing there?” I ask no one in particular and Daniel looks at me strangely. “That’s what I said two minutes ago, dude. She is here to fight and earn money.” He says and looks back at her. The fight starts before I can say anything and I stand up on autopilot and walk out of the booth towards the ring while I don’t take my eyes off of her. I hear Daniel is calling my name but I don’t stop, I can’t. She is a killing machine. Fast and skilled to my biggest surprise. I definitely didn’t expect that… f*ck… she is so perfect. She is moving effortlessly, it almost looks like it’s too easy for her. I just walk slowly towards her, my legs are moving on their own. She is like a siren who attracts me with her whole being. When I reach the ring she looks at me all of a sudden and I am totally done for. Her beautiful blue-grey eyes are the most beautiful ones I have ever seen and her face is flawless and perfect. Her hair has special colour too, maybe it’s dyed because I don’t think this hair colour naturally exist. We stare at each other like we are compelled till she gets a blow right into her beautiful face. Sudden anger flows through me and I am about to step into the ring when I see her finishes her opponent off with a single blow and turns to me again. She walks towards me and I can’t take my eyes off of her. She reaches her hand out and touches my cheek with her soft fingers like she wants to make sure that I am real. I feel some kind of electric tingles right where she touches me, but I don’t care about anything at this moment, just her.
