Chapter 10

*** Angel’s POV ***

Luckily I payed only for one night at the motel so I have still some money. After hours of running I found a small Bed & Breakfast by the edge of the forest, far from the road. I decide to stop here and spend the night since it’s three am.

The owner wasn’t too happy that I woke him up, but he was happy for the money so he gave me a room. I am sure Damon is already on his way to get me, I can’t believe he is a hunter and I most definitely didn’t expect him to be the leader.

‘I am sorry Angel, you are right. I should have controled myself, especially in the front of humans.’ Sky says while she is still whimpering.

‘What is done, it’s done. Don’t beat yourself.’ I tell her, but actually I don’t know what we are going to do either. Our mate, who should love and cherish us the most, wants to kill us like we are some disgusting creations, like we are monsters who shouldn't exists in this world.

‘We will escape from them, we will look for survivors and defeat them.’ Sky says with determination and I know she is right and we need to do that for the sake of our kind and for our own safety.

‘Yes, we should do that.’ I tell her but I can’t get him out of my head. I close my eyes and his green ones are staring back at me with adoration in my memories. Sadly I won’t see that look on his face ever again, since he wants to kill me now. Maybe I won't see him again at all.

‘We will defeat them or we will convince mate to have us and love us back..’ Sky says, but I feel the uncertainty in her voice.

‘We will see what we can do, alright?’ I try to reassure her ,but I know this will be a very hard period of our lives. We must stay strong and we need to jump these barriers. Maybe the moon goddess wants to challenge us to see if I deserve to have the silver wolf and I won't disappoint her. I will do everything in my power to make her proud so she won't regret her decision.

‘Angel, I think we should use a shield around the building.’ Sky says. We need to use everything we can to win this battle against the hunters, too many innocent werewolves' blood dried on their hands already.

‘Yeah, we should do that. Let’s go.’ I tell her and walk out of the house as quietly as possible. I am glad we have these extra powers to help us.

‘Let’s make it bigger than the last time, we will need time to disappear if they show up.’ She says and my eyes widen slightly in surprise.

‘Can we do bigger? How big?’ I ask her in awe.

‘As big as you want if we will have enough energy to keep going.’ She says and I nod my head with determination.

‘Okay, then let’s try it.’ I tell her and concentrate on the shield.

‘Hold your hands above your head when you make a bigger one.’ She says and I follow her instructions. ‘Very good, it’s ten miles wide already, keep going if you can.’ She says and I have still plenty of energy so I keep going.

‘I think this will be enough.’ I tell her and I let the shield reach the ground. As soon as it does, it turns totaly invisible.

‘30 miles, very good. We will feel it if a hunter who is looking for us will enter the shield and we will also know which part of the shield they entered so we will have time to escape from them.’ She explains.

‘I like our power.’ I tell her while I am trying to catch my breath, I didn't think it will be so tiring.

‘You didn’t see anything yet. We will practice the rest of our powers as soon as we are safe.’ She says as I head into the house. I go to take a fast shower and head to bed right away , it was a long day.

I am running in the forest barefoot and look behind me in panic when I feel like someone is chasing me. I hear footsteps, but I don’t see anyone. I am scared and tired. My view is blurry because of my tears and I don’t feel my wolf at all, like I am just a human and I am running for my life. I was never scared in the forest before but now I feel like I will die if I stop running.

Suddenly a huge and heavy male body tackles me to the ground and a sharp pain go through my body when I land. I try to scream but no voice comes out of my mouth.

“Mate? Don’t make me laugh you useless creature, you are nothing, but a monster.” I turn my head to see Damon. He spits the words out like I am the most hated thing in his life.

Before I can say anything he takes his sword from behind him and with a swift movement he cuts my head off with it.

I wake up, screaming and kicking in the bed while holding my neck.

‘Angel, calm down, it was just a dream.’ Sky says as I sit up on the bed, sweating, while my heart beats thousand per minute.

‘It felt so real Sky.’ I tell her while I am trying to catch my breath and calm down.

‘We need to move Angel, they step through the shield a few minutes ago from south.’ Sky says so I rush to the bathroom to wash up fast and wash my teeth, no time for a shower now so I need to skip that.

‘How much time we have till they get here?’ I ask her.

‘It depends, I guess they are with a car so maybe twenty minutes.’ She says. I have nothing to pack in so I am ready to go. I leave the door of the room open with the key in the lock and jump out of the window. That’s the fastest way and since the window looks towards the forest to north, I just start running with full speed, after making sure no one is around.

‘Let’s shift, this forest is long, we will be faster that way.’ Sky says and when we are enough deep into the forest, I undress myself and shift. I have my backpack with me but only with my training clothes in it. I am wearing my clothes from yesterday. Now that I think about it, it was stupid to leave my clothes behind in the motel, but I didn’t know this will happen.

‘Do you think they are looking for us in the forest as well?’ I ask her while I grab my backpack with my mouth and start running in wolf form.

‘Well, they are hunters so probably yes.’ She says and now I see that was a stupid question. They are werewolf hunters and werewolves live in forests or near forests so we really need to watch out.

‘Tomorrow I can go to the bank and get the money what my parents left me, I need to buy clothes and maybe I should buy a wig and a few things as disguise. We could go to a bigger city and live amongst humans, what do you think?’ I ask Sky.

‘It’s a good plan, but I miss our mate.’ She says and I agree, we just met, but I miss him already too. I wonder if he misses us as well, but as I remember his expression when he realised that I was the one who growled in the club, I know the answer.

‘He will kill us as soon as he catches us, Sky.’ I tell her sadly.

‘The mate bond will be stronger as the time pass, not to mention when we will be in heat, what will we do then?’ She asks worriedly.

‘I have an idea, but we need to wait till Monday for the money, tomorrow is Monday, right?’ I ask her.

‘Yes, what is your plan?’ She asks as we are running in full speed. I don’t know how fast an average wolf is, but I can barely see the threes we are passing by because they are blurry as we run.

‘You will see, now let’s get away from them as far as we can.’ I tell her and we increase our speed even more.

‘Okay, just rest now.’ She says and I give her full control.

We are running already for hours when suddenly one of our back paws stuck into something and we fly into a three with a huge crash. I feel my whole body is in pain and Sky lets out a loud whimper.

‘It’s a trap, Angel, we need to get out of here.’ says Sky as I look down at out leg. I shift back and try to remove the metallic objects from my leg, but I can’t. I can see there is a red light on it. I am not sure if these are for simple hunters or werewolf hunters use them, but whoever owns it, they are on their way here.

‘I can’t take it off Sky.’ I tell her in panic.

‘Calm down and let’s study it.’ She says and I do as she said, even though it hurts like hell.

‘Look there is a small keyhole on the side.’ I tell her.

‘Try to open it with your claw.’ She says and I let my claws out on my right hand to try to pick the lock, but it doesn’t working.

‘Hurry up, we need to get out of here Angel, now.’ Sky says and I sniff the air.

‘I can smell him Sky, faintly, but he is near.’ I tell her in panic, but on the other hand I am happy as well, because mate is close by. I just wish he doesn’t want to kill us, but I know that wish won't come true.

‘I wish that too, Angel. I wish that too.’ She says with a sigh.

‘I don’t understand how he caught up to us so soon.’ I tell her.

‘Don’t underestimate the hunters. They have a lot of kind of technology. Safer if we sit on a bus and travel like that than running in the woods.’ She says.

‘Let’s take this thing off first and we can think of a good way to escape when we are far from this thing and the hunters.’ I tell her and keep trying to unlock it.
