They walked into their next lesson sitting down. Connor and Daniel sitting either side of her not quiet convinced that was all it was.
They walked out of their lesson going to lunch.
“You’re quiet Autumn,”
“I have nothing to say.”
“That’s a first.”
Connor kicked James. “He’s right babe why are you so quiet.”
“I don’t feel like talking.”
“Sure.”
They finished their cigarettes going on for registration and their last lessons.
Connor and Autumn stood on the bridge. “Are you sure you’re okay Autumn? You don’t seem your cheerful self.”
“I’m fine.”
“I’ll see you tomorrow okay..
“Okay.”
He pecked her cheek. “Here okay.”
“Okay.”
Connor walked away as Autumn stood on the bridge overlooking the river.
“You know that you’re going to have to tell him about me.”
She turned. “Gaz.”
“You forgot didn’t you?”
She looked at him confused.
“Come on babe.”
“Where are we going?”
“For a walk. You okay for a while?”
“Yeah.”
He held out his hand, she looked unsure at it. He smiled, she placed her hand in his and he closed it around hers leading her away. “So Have you had a good day at school?”
“Not really.”
“Care to share?”
“Too much homework and course work that’s all.”
“It will get harder if you decide that you want to go to college.”
“I know.”
He pulled her down onto the grass. “We can go to the graveyard tomorrow.”
“No thanks.”
“I’m working, so I’ll pick you up around eight.”
“I can’t I’m sorry.”
“Lie to your mom if you have to.”
“I don’t know.”
“Have you got any homework?”
“Yeah and course work most I’m doing over the weekend.”
“So I won’t see you?”
“Sorry, I’m meeting Con after.”
“You really have to tell him, Autumn.”
“We have to study together. We’re friends Gaz.”
“I know, but he has a thing for you.”
“Ignore it okay. He respects me.”
“That’s a first. I remember being his age respect never came into it.”
“Well he does.’”
He glided his hand down her face nerving her. “I hope we can spend more time together over the holidays and when you leave school.”
She looked at him his lips pressed on hers kissing her hungrily with tongue. He pulled her close kissing her harder and harder. He moved away she looked at him, his eyes glistened behind his glasses. “Come round to mine this weekend, we’ll be all alone.”
“I don’t know.”
“Come on Autumn, we don’t have to do anything if you’re not ready.”
“What about your friends?”
“They’re all busy so what do you say?”
“Okay.”
He smiled pressing his lips on hers kissing her.
“You okay Autumn?”
“Yeah I’m fine.”
“You looked like you were somewhere else.”
“No, I’m fine.”
“So we still meeting tomorrow at seven?”
“I can’t stay out all night.”
“I know. I’ll put the cameras on so I can walk you home.”
“Okay.”
He kissed her softly.
“I have to go.”
“I guess your mom will be wondering where you are.”
“Yeah.”
He took her hand pulling them both to their feet, walking away. “We’ll meet here, okay.”
“Okay.”
“Don’t be late.”
“I won’t.”
“I’ll see you tomorrow.” He said kissing her, letting go of her hand.
“Okay.”
“Night babe.”
“Night Gaz.”
She walked away, he watched her till he could no longer see her, he turned walking away.
22nd November
After a long day at school Autumn and Connor had said there goodbyes to their
friends. “So are we still on for tomorrow?”
“Yeah.”
‘“Cool I’ll see you at six.’”
“Okay.”
He kissed her softly. “Night babe.”
“Night Con.”
She walked away as he walked home, she closed the door behind her. Her mother had already done something to eat, storage pie. She sat opposite her eating and drinking her lemonade. Around six she showered changing telling her mother that she was going out for some fresh air and to detox. She smiled. She’d been told that it was an important part of her therapy to take out by Mr. Grayson. He had told her that it would help her to put their lives into perspective and to help her to believe in herself once again.
She walked up to the bridge where he was waiting on his bike.
He passed her the helmet, she took it off him putting it on getting onto he motorbike. He pulled away ridding down the many streets to the cemetery where he pulled up opening the gates riding into the cemetery to the office where they both got off the bike. They took there helmets off. He took her hand going into the office. “Sit down babe.”
She feel onto the sofa he placed the helmets down making them both a coffee. “You look nice again tonight I already told you that you don’t have to get dressed up for me.”
“And I already told you that I always go out like this.”
He sat next to her. “So how’s everything going with your coursework and everything?”
“Okay.”
He moved closer. Slipping his arm over the back of the sofa. “I hated doing all the course work.”
“It’s not just that, it’s helping Stenton too.”
“The cops kid?”
“Yeah it’s hard, we’ve got a whole load of work to get through including course work.”
“Maybe you should tell your tutors.”
“I did I have to wait till after Christmas for them to get some help in for him.”
“So generally you’re a busy bee?”
“Yeah.”
“Unlike me aye.”
“You have two jobs.”
“I do.”
She looked at him.
“It’s always been hard for me Autumn things never come that easy to me I wish I had a girl like you to help me than maybe I wouldn’t’ve f****d my whole life up and not dropped out of college I asked for help, they didn’t want to know so I dropped out.”
“You tried they should’ve to.”
“Dad reckoned it was just an excuse not to bother finishing the course but it wasn’t.”
“You tried Gaz, you can’t do more than that.”
He smiled. “I’m glad that we met and Jae introduced us. Just a Pity the circumstances weren’t different.”
She smiled nervously.
He glided his hand down her face, curling her hair in his fingers making her more nervous. “I hope that we can spend more time together.”
“I have school and a lot of course work and homework and you have work.”
“We can work around all of that. I’d like it if we could get to know each other better.”
She sat nervously as his lips touched hers kissing her. “Just relax okay, we’re on our own.”
“Apart from the dead.”
He laughed. “Who they gonna tell?”
She looked at him.
He pressed his lips back on hers kissing her passionately his tongue slipping in. He placed his hand on her leg, pulling her around, lowering her onto the sofa kissing her harder and harder. Right now she didn’t feel comfortable where his boner was. He slid his hand up her body unbuttoning her blouse.
She quickly moved away. “I’m sorry. I can’t.”
He looked at her.
“You’re going to fast.”
“We’re just getting to know one another.”
“Clearly your anatomy has other ideas. And wants to know more than I wish it to.”
“I thought that we were together?”
“It’s barely been two weeks Gaz. How many times are you going to try?”
“I like you Autumn. Is it wrong of me to want to have s*x with you.”
“I knew this was a bad idea. You clearly want more than I’m ready to give.”
“Just let me touch you. No sex.”
“I…I can’t.”
“You have to learn to trust me Autumn.”
“Why? So that you can go running to your friends and tell them that you’ve f****d a teenager?! I don’t f*****g think so.” She said, angrily.
“No. I’m not like that, Autumn.”
“How do I know that your not. Your boner clearly states that you are and you can’t keep it on a leash.”
“I’m attracted to you can’t you see that?”
“No I can’t. I see a guy that wants a quick fix and will do anything to get it.”
“I’m not like that.”
“I have to go home.”
“What about your drink?”
“I’m not thirsty.”
“Okay.”
He pulled himself up she buttoned her blouse, pulling herself up.
“I’ll just put the cameras on and I’ll take you home.”
“Sure.”
He switched the cameras on taking her hand leading her out of the office getting onto the bike pulling away. He pulled up by the bridge and she got off the bike. She passed him the helmet. “I’m sorry Autumn. I just want to be close to you.”
“I have to go Gaz.”
“Sure. I’ll see you Monday.”
“Fine.”
“Later babe.” He said, revving up the bike.
“Later.” She said, walking away.
He watched her til one no longer could. She’ll spinning before he sped off.
“So your time out okay?”
“Yeah. I’m going to bed.”
“Sure night, Autumn.”
“Night mom.”
She slothed up the stairs into her room falling to the bed tears falling into her pillow. How long could she continue with this relationship?
