updated Ava’s P.O.V A cool breeze washed over my face, waking me up and I opened my eyes to see that the morning sun was high in the sky, but the window was also open. I yawned and stretched, looking over to where Isaiah was lying, but he wasn’t there. I wondered where he had gone, but I wasn’t really worried as this was his house, so I knew that he was safe. I got out of bed and went to the bathroom, taking a quick shower, to get any of the smoke that was left on me from last night's fire, drying off and then getting dressed in some clothes that Isaiah’s sisters had left for me. I grabbed my purse and put it in my pocket, hoping to use someone’s computer to buy new clothes, so I decided that I was going to find Isaiah and take a look around along the way, so I opened the bedroom door and left the room. I walked down the hallway, but then I heard strange noises, so I followed them downstairs, where it kept getting louder. “What the f**k is that?” I asked, talking out loud to myself. I couldn’t find the source of the noise inside, so I walked outside and around the back of the house to the yard, but that's when I saw them. Wolves. There were a group of wolves coming out of the woods and they looked so beautiful. I was in awe of them as I watched them, but then they started to change into something else, causing my mouth to drop open. “What the….” I muttered as I saw the wolves turning into humans. The first one I laid eyes on was Isaiah, he was one of them, one of the wolves that had just transformed into a human. I stood there in shock for a few minutes, blinking fast for a few seconds as I watched them one by one transform from wolf to human. I knew the keys to my car were still in my car, but I couldn’t move. I was frozen to my spot, but then another wolf came out of the woods and transformed into a human, snapping me out of my frozen state. I slowly backed away and then turned, running as fast as I could to my car. “AHHHHH!!!!” I screamed out, running away, but when I got to the front of the house where I had left my car, I saw that it wasn’t there. I couldn’t see my car anywhere and I needed to get the hell out of there, so I started running as fast as I could. Mercury’s P.O.V I was in my office working on some pack business when a sudden scream broke my concentration and made me look up from my computer. What the f**k is that all about? Is there a pack member suddenly shifting for the first time? I jumped up from my chair and ran out of my office, looking for the source of the scream, but when I got outside I saw Isaiah running away from the pack house. “What the f**k is going on?” I asked and he quickly stopped. “Ava saw us shifting, she screamed and ran away. Damn she’s a f*****g fast runner.” Isaiah said, just stopping long enough to tell me and I couldn’t believe my ears. “GO GET HER AND BRING HER BACK HERE RIGHT NOW!! IF SHE TELLS ANYONE, ANY HUMAN THAT DOESN’T KNOW ABOUT US IT CAN GET HER, THEM OR US KILLED!!! NOW GO DAMN IT!!!” I shouted and Isaiah ran off in what I assumed was the direction Ava fled in. Gabrielle came running out of the pack house and straight after Isaiah, obviously hearing what was going on. Gabrielle’s P.O.V I ran behind Isaiah the whole time, trying to catch up with Ava, but Isaiah was right, she was an extremely fast runner and was way ahead of us. We were just coming up to the gates when I saw Ava climb up and over them, then jumped down on the other side and ran off. Isaiah and I did the same, but by the time we managed to see where she was she hopped into a car and drove off. “f**k! f**k! f**k! What am I going to do? If anyone finds out about us dad is going to kill me.” Isaiah said, panicking. He had every reason to panic because we were all at risk, but I saw the guy that was driving and it was a huge help. “Isaiah, hold on, I know that guy, he’s a driver that we use from time to time.” I said, taking my phone out of my pocket and dialling his number. “Hey Joe, this is Gabrielle, don’t say anything, just call me back as soon as you drop her off and tell me where she is. She is my brother's mate, but she’s human and saw my brother and a few others shifting, which has obviously freaked her out and she ran. Call me back as soon as you drop her off.” I said, quickly speaking before he could say my name and give himself and us away. I waited for a few seconds before I finally heard him reply. “Alright mom, I’ll pick up dinner on the way home, love you, bye.” Joe replied and then hung up the phone. Joe’s P.O.V Shit, this was just great, just absolutely f*****g great. Gabrielle is Mercury’s daughter and I knew what he was capable of, especially when it came to his family and their mates. I really didn’t want to be in the middle of this, but I knew that if I didn’t call her back I would be in trouble. I drove Ava out of town because she wanted to be as far away as possible and after that I dropped her off at the nearest Holiday Inn. I took my phone out and called Gabrielle back. “Where is she?” Gabrielle asked, answering the phone straight away and not bothering with small talk and it was then I realised how serious this situation was. “Gabrielle, I want to stay out of this, so leave me out of this. Whatever has happened is none of my business. She’s at the Holiday Inn hotel just out of town. I don’t want to know what you're going to do to her.” I said and then hung up the phone. This was their argument or whatever it was, but I was going to stay out of it no matter what. I stayed where I was for about an hour, waiting to make sure she was still here before I drove off. Just because I wasn’t getting involved, didn’t mean that I wanted to be in trouble for giving wrong information. Ava’s P.O.V There was something shifty about the man who was sitting next to me and I didn’t trust him one bit. There was something off about him and when he dropped me off at the Holiday Inn he hung around, so I decided I wasn’t going to check up into this room, I was just going to make it look like I was. I knew there was another hotel about a mile down the road, but it was still too close for my liking, but then I saw a guy getting into his car, so I ran over to him. “Excuse me, can I get a ride?” I asked, hoping he would say yes and he nodded. “Sure honey, get in.” He replied and I hopped into his car and we drove off. “So, where are you going?” He asked, but I had no idea where was going to be safe after that. “As far away as possible.” I replied, not being specific and he just nodded. I didn’t tell him or the previous guy about what I had seen and why I was running because I honestly didn’t know if they were like Isaiah and the others or not. The whole ride I just kept looking out the window, hoping this guy wasn’t a murderer or something, when the car finaly came to a stop. We were at the Red Roof Inn hotel and I finally felt like I was far enough away from Isaiah and the others. I gave the guy twenty dollars and thanked him for the ride, then got out of his car and hurried into the lobby. “Hello, can I have a room for a few nights please?” I asked and the woman behind the desk smiled, handing me the key to room twenty one. I thanked her, took the key and then left the lobby, hurrying to my room and closing the door behind me. I closed the shades and locked the door, then went to the bathroom. I looked in the mirror and saw that I looked like a hot mess. My hair was all over the place and my face was flushed and blotchy, my clothes were wet with sweat and dirty from where I had been running or rather fleeing. I filled the sink up with water and then stripped out of my clothes and underwear, washing them and then hanging them up to dry. Yeah I was on the run, but I sure wasn’t going to wear dirty clothes and underwear. I turned on the water and took a long hot shower, washing my hair and body, then turned the water off and grabbed a towel. I dried myself off and put on the heavy robe that was hanging in the small closet and laid on the bed. My nerves were all over the place after seeing all of that, but I needed a way to calm myself down, so I turned on the TV, hoping that it would help me relax a little. Isaiah’s P.O.V We made it to the Holiday Inn that Joe told us he dropped her off at, but just as we got there I saw her jump into another car and drive out of the car park. “Who the f**k was that guy?” I asked myself, getting pissed off that my mate was in a car with a strange man. I drove at least two car lengths behind her so that she wouldn’t notice, but also kept up so that I wouldn’t lose her. We had to get her back to the pack house before any rogues found out she was out in the open or they could take her and Goddess only knows what they would do to her then. I slowed down as the guy dropped her off at the Red Roof Inn hotel and then drove off. I waited for her to go inside and then I parked the car, watching to see where she was going. “So what do you want to do? Do you need me to go talk to her?” Gabrielle asked, turning to face me and I shook my head. “No, I need to do this. Besides I know the manager of this hotel, so I’ll just wait until she asks for room service or I could just knock on her door. I’m not sure yet.” I replied, trying to think of what to do next. I waited a few minutes and then got out of the car. “Just wait here, we will be out in a few minutes, even if I have to drag her ass out kicking and screaming.” I said, muttering the last part to myself. “What room is Ava in?” I asked, walking up to the desk in the lobby. “She is in room twenty one, make it fast.” The woman replied, but I had no idea what she was talking about when she said that. I walked to her room and her scent was getting stronger with every step I took. I stopped outside her room and just stood there, thinking of how to handle this. “f**k it.” I said, lifting my foot and kicking the door open. Ava’s P.O.V My clothes and underwear had been sitting on the radiator for the past hour and it was finally dry, so I put my bra, panties and the rest of my clothes back on, then tied my hair up in a simple ponytail. I had decided to stay here for a few days and then after that I would have to think of where to go next. I knew my parents wouldn’t let me stay with them as they wanted their own place, besides they hadn’t bothered to see how I was doing or anything since I have been gone. I sat back on the bed and started to watch a film called Bridesmaids, when all of a sudden the door to the room was kicked open. I jumped and fell off the bed, landing on my bum and then jumped up again to see what the hell was going on. “WHAT THE f**k IS WRONG WITH YOU?!!!!” I screamed at Isaiah, but he just picked me up and tossed me over his shoulder, then walked out of the room. I was kicking and hitting his back all the way outside and screaming at him, but it was no use. “ISAIAH!! PUT ME DOWN!! WHAT THE f**k ARE YOU DOING?!!! WHERE ARE YOU TAKING ME?!!!” I screamed at him and then he stopped and put me down. I tried to run but he quickly caught me. “Ava, will you f*****g stop for just one damn minute and listen to me?” Isaiah said, but before he could say another word I slapped him hard across the face. I carried on hitting him and was slapping the s**t out of him, but it didn’t seem to even bother him. “Alright Ava, I deserve that, but please just listen. There are people after you, so if you come back I’ll explain everything to you, I promise.” Isaiah said, but I just shook my head no. I tried to run again, but he caught me yet again. “LET ME f*****g GO!! YOU’RE NOT GOING TO HURT ME SO LET ME f*****g GO!!!” I screamed as Isaiah held me tightly. I struggled against him and the next thing I knew I felt a big sharp pinch and a few seconds later I was out like a light. I felt like I was being carried and put in a car, but that's all I remembered before I completely blacked out.
