Druk’s P.O.V
The next morning I was woken up by the morning sun shining on my face, so I got up and got dressed then headed to Mercury’s office. When I walked inside Mercury was head deep in his computer work, so I cleared my throat and Mercury looked up at me smiling.
“Hey, what are you doing awake so early?” Mercury asked, still smiling. He seemed a little different today compared to how he was yesterday and when I first got here.
“Well, you and I are going to go to our old stomping grounds, so get up and let's get out of here. Whatever that's on that computer is going to have to wait for a few hours.” I replied and Mercury sighed.
“Fine, let's go.” Mercury said, shaking his head as he saved whatever he was doing and then turned his computer off. We left the pack house and got into Mercury’s car, driving out of the territory and a few hours later we were in a clearing by a huge green meadow.
“Alright, let's do this.” I said, getting out of the car. Mercury gave me a confused look until I started stripping off my clothes and crouched down to begin shifting into my dragon. My bones started breaking and shifting into their new places, but each time they broke they grew bigger and bigger. The bones of my wings burst through the skin on my back and stretched out, as my other wings did the same. Scales erupted all over my skin and then my tail bone elongated, until it was so long that it was hitting a few trees behind me and uprooting them. Horns sprouted from my forehead down to my nose which had now lengthened and took the shape of a snout. My fingers grew into claws and the skin between them started to web together, then lastly my skin started to take its natural colour. When I was finally done shifting I stood and spread my wings out, making me tower over the trees around us as I stood over twenty foot high.
Mercury’s P.O.V
I had forgotten how truly majestic and magnificent Druk was when he was in his dragon form. He was a beautiful dark green with blue on the inside of his wings and his eyes were gold, blue and green, almost glowing. Druk roared loudly making the ground shake and then he leaned down letting me jump up onto his back.
“Do not drop me.” I said, holding on for dear life. We were up in the air and high up in the clouds after a few flaps of his huge wings. We flew for hours, drifting through the sky and then landed back in the same meadow that we took off from. I jumped off Druk’s back and he shifted back into his human form, then got dressed.
“Thanks, I really needed to get out of that house for a while. Do you know that Cheyenne visited me last night? We spoke and she told me that she wants me to let her go. She asked me not to stay mad at her and I know that I can’t stay mad at her forever, but if I don’t I’ll mourn myself to death. Druk, I don’t….I don’t know how to live without her, she was my whole life, my world.” I said and Druk nodded.
“Yeah, I knew when she came to you, I felt the air shift. Mercury, you need to do what she has asked you to do because if you don’t you will lose yourself and you will die. Mercury, your kids need you, so for Goddess sake spend time with them. When was the last time you spent time with or even seen Selena or Anna?” Druk asked, making me shake my head.
“Yeah, okay, I know you're right and I’ll invite them over for dinner tonight. The thing is Isaiah’s mate Ava is coming over for a few nights as well, so that we can scope out her house and make sure that it is safe for her to go back to.” I replied, feeling bad that I had been neglecting my family once again.
“Alright then, send Spike and Shark to scope it out. Your dinner is tonight, so you need to link your family and ask them to come to the pack house tonight for a family dinner, then all you have to do after is sit there and listen to them. This is going to be hard for you to hear, but you need to hear what your family has to say and what they have been going through, so suck it up because at least then you will know and you can start to do better. When you start living your life again like Cheyenne has asked you will find your second chance mate and then you will start to love again.” Druk said, but I just shook my head.
“I can’t do that, I can’t accept another mate after Cheyenne, it doesn’t feel right.” I said, but Druk gave me a serious look and I knew that whatever he said next was going to make me think long and hard.
“Remember when I lost my mate and how reckless I was until many years later when I found my second chance mate. Natalie didn’t want anything to do with me until I got my life in order and my s**t together, now look at us. Just last week our eggs hatched and we are now proud parents. Natalie’s mother is looking after the hecklings until we get back and we are leaving tonight, so get your s**t together Alpha Don Mercury because when I come back here I better see you and your family back together. Now come on, you have a family dinner to get to.” Druk said and I nodded. He was one hundred percent right about me and my family, but as far as me having a second chance mate he was wrong. I was nowhere near ready for that, no one could or would ever compare to Cheyenne, not in this lifetime or the afterlife.
