Isaiah’s P.O.V
It was six in the morning and I was wide awake now. I still can’t believe I marked Ava last night. I felt her beating on my back as I did so and I felt bad for carrying on with the marking, but I knew I had to mark her and then she suddenly stopped. She was begging me to continue, so it must have turned from being painful to pleasurable. At least my mark will keep her safe now, especially with the rogues I smelled outside last night. I could now hear her thoughts, but she’s unable to hear mine, so it makes me wonder what she’s going to be thinking when she wakes up. I looked at the clock and groaned internally as I knew I had to get going, but I really didn’t want to. I pulled Ava closer to me and then leaned over her, kissing all over her face and waking her up. She giggled as she looked up at me and then frowned when she saw the time.
“I know it's early, but I have to get going and I didn’t want to leave without saying goodbye for now. I’ll be at the club tomorrow night, so I’ll see you then.” I said, kissing her again and she nodded.
“Alright, I’ll see you tomorrow night and I’ll talk to you later, but for now I am going back to sleep.” Ava said, rolling over and closing her eyes. I got out of bed, got dressed and then kissed her once more before leaving. I sniffed the air as I got near my car and could still smell the scent of rogues, but it was faint now which meant they were gone. I felt relieved that they were no longer hanging about, but I also hoped they wouldn’t come back as well. I got in my car and drove back to the pack house, but when I got inside I could feel a change in the air.
“Isaiah, come to my office, now.” Dad said, mind-linking me. I went straight to his office and as soon as I walked in I knew that I was in trouble.
“Sit down.” Dad said, looking up from his computer and I knew from the look on his face that I was in some really deep s**t.
“Give me one good reason why you marked her and do not lie to me because the whole f*****g pack felt it. You do realise that she will now be a part of this pack, right?” Dad asked and I sighed. I really wasn’t thinking about that when I did it, all I thought about was keeping her safe.
“Dad, I’m sorry, I wasn’t thinking, but there were rogues in the woods near her house. I could smell them, so I had to do something to keep her safe and that's the only thing I could think of. I thought that if they saw my mark on her neck they might leave her alone and stay away from her.” I replied, but dad shook his head at me.
“Son, I know you meant well and thought it would work like that, but they are rogues and whether she is marked or not, so if they want to kill her they will. Now we have to patrol around her house because of them, she is now your future Luna, so you will need to keep her safe. Why don’t you bring her here for a few days, that way if there are rogues still hanging around they won’t even try to follow her onto our territory and if they do they will die. Now you just need to get her here, so when are you going to be seeing her next?” Dad asked and I nodded.
“Tomorrow night I’ll be going to the club to see her, but I’ll be talking to her later on.” I replied and dad nodded.
“Fine, but you stick by her side. I don’t want you to crowd her, but just watch over her because she's not just your mate, but also this packs future Luna and my soon to be daughter in law. Is that clear?” Dad said, using his Alpha tone, but he really didn’t need to.
“Yes Alpha.” I replied, bowing my head.
“Dad, she’s my mate and I promise that I will protect her. There is no way that I am going to let anything happen to her, you don’t need to use your Alpha tone on me.” I said and my dad sighed as he nodded.
“I know, I just don’t want you to go through what I have. Now go get showered, you stink and not in a good way. We have a meeting with an old friend that I haven’t seen in many years, but when I tell you who and what he is it stays between you and I, is that clear?” Dad asked and I quickly nodded, curious as to who this old friend is.
“His name is Druk and well, he’s a dragon, so is his mate. He comes to visit me every thirty years or so. As you know people think that dragons don’t exist anymore, but there are still millions out there, just not the animal kind.” Dad said and my eyes widened with every word that he spoke.
“Hold on, let me get this straight, you mean to tell me that dragons are still around? That an old friend of yours is coming to visit and both he and his mate are dragons, plus they're not the only ones around, there are more. Is that right?” I asked and dad nodded.
“I’m going to need to see this with my own eyes.” I said, curious as to how he shifts from his human form to his dragon form. I wonder if he always has scales on some part of his body or if they only appear when he shifts?
“Son, I know that you’re excited about this, but he can’t shift here, there are too many prying eyes around and if anyone finds out, they will try to kill him. He can be himself in his home in Ireland, but here….” My dad said, then stopped and shook his head.
“He can’t be himself here and you can’t say anything to anyone. I mean it, not a soul can know about what he is. He should be here today, he’s already been on four planes so it's just a matter of time until he arrives. So we’ll wait, but first please go shower, I can smell your mating from last night.” Dad said and I quickly turned red. I had no idea that he could smell that on me, s**t, I should have known. I nodded and quickly left dad's office, going straight up to my room and right into the bathroom. I took a long hot shower and then dried off, going back into the bedroom. I looked at the time and knew that Druk should be here in a few hours, so I had plenty of time for a nap. I put on my jeans and then laid down on my bed, but as soon as my head hit my pillow I was out like a light.
“ISAIAH!!!!” I heard someone yell.
“ISAIAH!!!!!” Whoever it was yelled again.
“ISAIAH, I DON’T f*****g CARE WHAT YOU’RE DOING GET YOUR f*****g ASS TO MY OFFICE NOW!!!” Dad yelled at me through the mind-link. My eyes snapped open and I immediately looked at the clock. s**t, I had been asleep for more than a few hours. f**k! I jumped off my bed and grabbed a shirt, putting it on as I ran out of my bedroom and down to my dad's office. I can’t believe I slept for that long. I finished buttoning my shirt up as I got to the office door and then knocked.
“Come in.” Dad said and I opened the door, walking inside and then closing it behind me.
“Sorry I’m late.” I said, mind-linking dad, but he just shook his head at me.
“Isaiah, this is one of my oldest friends, Druk. Druk, this is my son Isaiah.” Dad said, introducing us. I looked over at Druk and smiled. He looked just like a normal human and there was no sign of him being a dragon or any other supernatural creature for that matter, I thought to myself, but then I looked into his eyes. I tried my hardest not to be shocked, but his eyes were so intense. Now I knew that dad wasn’t just pulling my leg, he was definitely telling me the truth.
