Isaiah’s P.O.V
The next day as I had said Polly, Nicole, Gabrielle, Joseph and myself were outside, waiting for the group to come out. Lexi was going to be coming along later on to see how they were getting on with fighting in their wolf forms. I watched as one by one they came out of the pack house and each of them looked more determined than they ever had, each wanting to finish their training to become fighter and warriors. They all came and stood in front of us, waiting for one of us to speak, but we had already decided that it was going to be me.
“Listen guys, I don’t want any joking or taking the piss out of each other, you either take this training and these girls seriously or you walk back home now.” I announced, but no one moved a muscle. I looked over my shoulder and nodded at Polly and Nicole for them to take over the rest of training. My phone went off, so I took it out of my pocket to see that I had received a message from Ava.
Ava - Hey, let me know when you get home, so I know that you made it safe.
“Shit.” I muttered to myself and quickly began typing.
Me - Hey Ava, I am sorry I didn’t text last night, but your message has only just this second come through. I made it home safe last night. Hope you’re doing good this morning. I had a great time last night.
I read through the message and then looked at the time. It was five thirty in the morning, so she was probably still sleeping. I hit the send button, knowing that she would read it when she woke up and then put my phone back in my pocket. Nicole was talking to the group, but I noticed that Gray, one of the guys, was just sitting there and he looked like he was deep in thought. I walked over to him and sat beside him, knowing exactly what was going on.
“Hey man, you okay?” I asked and he nodded.
“I’m scared, my wolf just broke through and he said we are going to shift next week like Krystal.” Gray replied and it was clear that he was worried.
“Don’t worry, it will all be okay and we’ll all be out there to help you through it, just listen to your wolf, as well as Polly and Nicole and everything will be okay.” I said, standing up.
“Nicole, just letting you know that Gray will be shifting next week like Krystal, his wolf has just broken through, so help these two out of those that have already shifted, alright.” I said, walking over to Nicole. She nodded and then I turned my attention to the rest of the group.
“Alright everyone, I’m heading inside as the Alpha wants to see me. I want you all to do what these women say because I’m the one that says whether you have graduated or not, so if they tell me no then it's no.” I said and they all nodded. I smirked at Polly and Nicole as I walked past them, heading back into the pack house. I knew that it was Polly and Nicole’s decision on who graduated, but I wanted them to do their best. I walked into the pack house just as my phone went off, so I quickly took it from my pocket, hoping it was Ava.
Ava - Hey Isaiah, yeah I figured that much. Have fun tonight with your dad and if you feel like it, drop by later.
I read the message and smiled, but I didn’t want to respond straight away as I wanted to talk to my dad first. I walked into my dad's office and saw that Grandpa, Spike, Axel, William and Goldie were already in there, so I closed the door behind me and took a seat. I waited to see what was happening later today, but then my dad just smiled at me.
“So, how was the date last night?” Dad asked, smirking as he looked at me.
Mercury’s P.O.V
Isaiah reminded me so much of myself when I was younger, but he didn’t have my attitude to life back then, thank the Goddess.
“Well it started out amazing and after dinner I took her to the cliff to see how she felt about wolves and stuff like bears and deer. She told me that she heard howls a few weeks back and that she thought it sounded so sad that it brought tears to her eyes, so I explained about what happens when a wolf loses one of their own they howl and that when other wolves hear them they howl out of respect.” Isaiah replied, shocking me.
“What was I supposed to tell her? I couldn't very well say that the howling was us.” Isaiah said, making me chuckle.
“You did great, don’t worry. I am sure that she didn’t catch on. Right, we’re leaving in a few minutes, instead of waiting for tonight and it's only about thirty minutes away. This guy has been running from me for a few years and I just heard that he got married and has a twenty year old daughter that he and his new wife love to beat on, so we are heading there. If anything we can at least save the daughter.” I said and everyone nodded.
“Well let's get going, any person that likes to beat on women or kids needs to get their ass beat.” Isaiah replied and Goldie quickly agreed.
“I agree, it's the reason I’m going as well. There's no telling what they have done to her, so when I get her out of there that's when I will put her in a car, leave and bring her back here.” Goldie said and we all nodded.
“I just hope the plan goes smoothly.” Hawk said, remembering the last time.
“Alright, let's head out, everyone has their gear. Come on.” I said and they all nodded.
“What about Gabby’s mate Terry, I thought he was meant to be coming with us on this one?” Isaiah asked me, but I shook my head.
“No, if there is a woman who is being injured then I want as few people as possible dealing with this. We don’t know how they will react or how the daughter will react, so keep it small and I will bring him along on the next one.” I replied, as we got in the cars. Goldie got into her own car, which was decked out with blacked out windows so no one could see inside, but she could still see outside. It would make for a quicker getaway for the daughter.
Goldie’s P.O.V
I drove off towards the address of the collection, but the whole time I kept thinking about the daughter and how I was going to get her out. If I could get her out quickly then Mercury could finish the job. Mercury has been a lot better after he had his breakdown, but I knew that he missed Cheyenne, just like I did. Maybe one day he will find his second chance mate, but for right now he has his family and we are all here for him.
“Goldie, the guy just walked into the store, if you turn right and then pull up. I want to wait for him to come back out, then follow him back.” Mercury said, mind-linking me. I turned the corner and pulled up at the store he mentioned. We all stayed still, waiting and not more than ten minutes went by when the guy walked out of the store carrying two big bags of ice. He carried them to his car and then got in, driving off, so Mercury and the rest of us quickly followed behind him, but none of us got too close to the guy just in case he saw us.
“Alright, this is it. We’ll wait until he gets into the house and then we move. I don’t want any mistakes on this in case it puts the girl in danger.” Mercury said, mind-linking all of us. We parked the cars up so they were out of sight, but not too far away that we couldn’t make a quick getaway. We waited for a few minutes, making sure the coast was clear, then we all turned the engines off and got out of our cars. I was a little excited about this because I haven’t been on a job for a while, as Trevor and I would have to take care of the pack whenever Mercury and Cheyenne were away.I watched as Mercury and the others spread out, some going to the front and the rest going to the back, then Mercury gave the signal and kicked the front door in. I jumped into action, running into the house with the others, but when we got into the living room the sight we saw shocked all of us. It was a sight that I never wanted to see ever again.
