It was all I could manage not to burst out into laughter as Robbie sulked about Betty being unfair. When she disappeared, I was at first shocked, wondering where she had gone, it was most unexpected, then I felt so proud. I guessed that she had pulled this trick on the boys before, and the comment on ‘witch training’ had me curious. Could you do those tricks if you were not a witch? This was new to me, and in the faces of my men, it was new to them too. That was something to investigate. Maybe the witch helped her with her dragon abilities, rather than magic powers, but it helped explain things to humans and others who could not make anything else make sense.
