“Why isn’t this working?” I groaned out as I glanced over at Tommy, who was watching tv.
“Hmm?” he hummed out, distracted by the sports game he was intently watching. I threw a book in his direction, and it landed by his feet. Tommy finally pulled his gaze away from the tv to look at me. “What?” he growled out, annoyed.
“Why isn’t this working?” I repeated as I gestured at the seashells on the table. He frowned as he got up from the sofa.
“What isn’t working?” he questioned as he came over to where I was seated. “How do you know it isn’t working?” he asked as he stared at the shells. Tommy was no witch, and it didn’t surprise me that he wasn’t even sure what I was talking about.
