Third POV
Lorenzo waits before knocking on the door. "Come on, brother! We are going to be late if you don't hurry up!"
The door opened and Devin looked at him with a scary expression. "Wow, this is what I get for bringing your ass home and taking care of you?" Lorenzon asked.
"I didn't ask you to bring my ass and I didn't tell you to wake me up early in the morning," Devin spoke.
"It's 6:00 am and everyone is waiting for us. We need to move now and you could sleep in the car."
"6:00 am! Why do we need to start early?"
"Because we need to be at the beach and cover up miles," Lorenzo said.
"Now get up, pack your stuff and move," Lorenzo added before turning on his heel and going to his room.
Devin groaned but didn't complain. He closed the door, went over and packed his stuff that is laying on the bed. His MacBook, iPad, phone, chargers, camera, recorder and book.
His luggage is already packed. He went over to the washroom and used it before putting on a different t-shirt belonging to Lorenzo.
"Do we really need to join them?" Miya asked Veronica who is currently waiting for the boys to pick up.
"Yes, Lorenzo invited us and we are going to join them," Veronica replied looking at her freshly painted nails.
"But why? I don't want to join them on their beach vacation," Miya said.
"Babe, did I ever ask you to join me anywhere? Please... Only this time," Veronica said holding Miya's hand.
"Okay, fine. Only once I will agree to this."
"I love you..."
Lorenzo pulled his phone to call the boys. He called Ace to know if they are going to start from their houses. He waited for Ace to answer the call.
"Hey, bro," Ace said.
"Hey, did guys start?"
"Yeah... Will be there in ten minutes."
"Cool, Devin and I will be starting soon," Lorenzo said.
"Veronica and Miya are joining us?" Ace asked.
"Yes, they are."
"I will pick them up from Veronica's home," Lorenzo said when Devin walked into his room with the luggage.
"Cool." Lorenzo ended the call.
"Veronica and Miya are joining?"
"Yeah."
"Why?"
"Because Veronica wanted to join us." Devin groaned shaking his head.
"I don't want to see any girls and you bringing both."
"Bear with it, bro. You will barely see them."
"Wish so," Devin said.
"Let's go, the driver will be driving us to the apartment," Lorenzo said picking up his backpack.
"Why driver?"
"Because I don't want to drive."
"Then to the beach house?"
"The boys will be driving."
"Veronica and Miya?" Devin asked. Lorenzo thought about it and groaned.
"No driver."
"Yes."
“You shouldn’t be doing that,” Zara says pulling Zoe back as she packs the picnic basket.
Zoe tries to snatch the blanket from the basket and Zara pulls her back by her tail. Zoe barks before running towards the bed and hiding underneath the bed.
When Zara ignores Zoe, Zoe runs out and barks at Zara before running back to hide.
“What? Raising your voice on me? Your barks don't work on me, little girl,” Zara said closing the basket. She got all the things she needed.
"Come on, let me put on your leash. We will leave and spend our day outside." Zara looked around for Zoe's leash while Zoe played her antics in the background.
“Honey, are you taking Zoe with you?” Grace questioned walking into Zara’s room.
“Yes grandma, did you make the sandwiches I asked for and also Zoe’s fruit?” Zara asked standing up.
“Yes, I have kept the boxes on the breakfast table. I’m going to take a nap, be safe and call your grandpa if anything happens.”
Zara smiled brightly at her grandmother, “don’t worry grandma, I will keep that in my mind and thank you.”
"No running off and troubling Zara," Grace said to Zoe.
"Haha..." Grace smiled before leaving the room.
Zara picked up the leash that was underneath the bed. She picked up the basket and her bag before wandering out of the room. "Come on, Zoe."
Zoe followed Zara. Zara went to the breakfast table, picked up the boxes and placed them in her picnic basket. "Come here," Zara said to Zoe before putting the leash on Zoe.
The walk to the park was pretty short. Zara smiled at the guard before entering the park with Zoe wiggling her tail in happiness. Zara walked slowly towards her spot which is a bit far away from the main park.
Zara smiled looking at the sky, kids playing around and the clouds. The weather was perfect for a peaceful picnic. Zara liked coming to the park with Zoe every weekend to read a book and to pass the time.
They have made a few friends with the dog parents who come there with their dogs. "Be a good girl and play around me. Don't wander and make me cry, okay?"
Zoe barked in return. Zara left Zoe's leash and Zoe happily ran in circles, Zara laughed before pulling out the blanket from the basket and laying it down.
While Zara arranged things Zoe played around, sniffed the grass, peed marking her territory and ran after the butterflies. Zara watched Zoe and the beautiful clouds passing by before she picked up the book that she is currently reading. She got 'The stationery shop of Tehran' last week and she started reading the book last night.
She opened page number 98 where chapter eleven starts.
"Sister, put that rubbish away and come to bed, my God!" Zara read out the first line before she fell into a deep hole where all her senses are fixed on the pages and the words written on the pages.
Devin crossed his arms and leaned back in his seat while Miya who is sitting beside him is reading a book. Veronica has been continuously flirting with Lorenzo who is driving. Devin sighed, he is a bit irritated and needed something to eat.
"Bro, got something to eat?" Devin asked.
Lorenzo looked at Devin in the rare mirror. "Nothing on me."
"Ask Miya, she packed some food," Veronica said.
Devin looked at Miya. "Miya, do you have food?" Devin asked tapping the book she is reading.
Miya looked up from the pages and handed him the bag where she kept the food. "Thanks."
Devin opened the bag and saw the options he has. He picked up the cookies from the bad and placed them in the middle. He looked out of the window and enjoyed the chocolate cookies.
When he got bored, he looked at the book Miya was reading. 'The stationery shop of Tehran.'
His brows frowned in confusion when he saw some girls reading the book before. "Is this book famous? Have been seeing everyone reading this," Devin said.
Miya stopped reading. "You can say that... It was published two months ago and it's a good book. Everyone is eager to read the book and know the story," Miya explained.
"Nice."
"Do you read?"
Devin shook his head. "Not often but sometimes I do..."
"I mean not into reading but I find myself holding a book and reading it to pass the time," Devin said.
"Okay."
Devin didn't say anything. He didn't want to disturb Miya. He pulled his phone and earphones out. He played the Spotify playlist that he created a week ago.
He looked out of the window, listened to the music, imagined a scenario that is never gonna happen, ate his cookies and smiled for an unknown reason.
Zara closed her book and decided to play with Zoe for a while before they decided to go home as the sun is becoming harsh. It was getting sunny and they won't be able to stay outside for long.
