Lorenzo POV I take a sip of my cola watching Ace and Jones argue about something. Israel is going through his messages, my gaze shifts to Travis and Zander who are laughing at the texts they got. Yusuf is leaning against the car and Devin is missing. "Where is Devin? Didn't he finish his exam?" I ask. "He did, he went to the restrooms," Yusuf said. "Why is he taking so much tie, we need to leave before five," Ace said. "I will go and check upon him," Jones said pushing his phone inside his pockets. I nod my head keeping the tin on the car hood.  "Did you guys bring your luggage?" I ask them. I didn't get the chance to ask them about the luggage in the morning. "Yup we did, what about you?" Yusuf spoke. "It's in my car," I say crossing my arms. My gaze goes to the left side, Zara is laughing looking at the girl beside her. I observed that she only hangs out with this girl and she said that the girl is a transfer student.   Her hair is tied in a messy bun, she wore those big round glasses and that lilac coloured loose sweatshirt. Her face glows in the light of the sun, her perfect set of white teeth is on the show as she smiles widely at her friend. A smile grows on my face unknowingly.  I find her cute, I'm not gonna lie. The way her eyes enlarge or the way she blinks her eyes when I keep my hand on the back of her chair or on the side of her arm. Those little reactions are new to me and I enjoy them. She shakes her head before getting into the car. "Lorenzo... Are you listening bro?" Ace questioned. I turn my head to see Yusuf, Zander, Israel and Travis looking at me with questionable eyes. "What were you looking at?" Travis asked.  "Nothing," I say in my usual calm voice even though I tensed for a second. I don't want them to know that I was looking at Zara. "Listen, Veronica just texted me asking about you and us," Travis said.  "Does she know that we are going to the beach house for the vacation?" Ace questioned. "No," I say. "Are you going to tell her if she asks?" Yusuf asked. I turn my head and gaze at him. I haven't thought of veronica even though she told me ahead of exams that she wants to spend her vacation with me. "I don't know, I didn't tell her that we are going to the beach house. If you guys don't have any problem then we can invite her and her friends over," I say. My gaze went to Devin and Jones who are coming towards us. Devin is holding his stomach while Jones is carrying Devin's bag. "What happened? You good?" I ask Devin. He shakes his head standing beside me and leans against the car. "I think he has a stomach upset and slight fever," Jones said as I placed my palm on Devin's forehead. His body is slightly burning. "Get in the car, we are going to the doctor," I say holding Devin's hand. I look at the boys who are looking at Devin. "Be in the apartment and make a decision if you guys want to invite Veronica or not," I tell them. "Yup." "See you two in the apartment." "Careful." "Call us if anything happens," Ace said. "I will take your bags," Travis said taking the bags from the back seat. I help Devin sit in the front seat and buckle the seatbelt.  "You comfortable?" I ask Devin. "Yeah,"  he replied closing his eyes. "I will call you guys later," I say. They all nod their heads, I go over to the driver's side and get in. I buckle my seatbelt and drive to the Woodsbench hospital. I look at Devin from time to time, he groans in pain. "I feel like vomiting," he spoke. I stop the car to a side, he quickly opens the door and unbuckled the seatbelt. I unbuckle my seatbelt and get out of the car, I rush over to his side and give him support as he throws up. "Easy there brother, don't hold back. Take your time and puke everything out," I say. There were many times when Devin cleaned me up and cleaned the mess when I used to puke after getting drunk.  I rub his back and help him sit in the seat, I take the water bottle from the backseat and hand it to him. He takes it while I search for the mint box which I keep in my car. "I'm getting chills... My stomach is hurting, I can't bear it," Devin said as he rinsed his mouth with water. I handed him the mint pills. "We will reach the hospital in ten minutes," I say closing his car door and getting into the car. I drive at a high speed and reach the hospital in ten minutes. I rush Devin into the hospital and the resident doctors rush in and check him up. I wait outside the emergency room doors as Devin is getting checked inside. I call the boys in the mean tell them about the scene. "You guys go home or sleep in the apartment, it's better if Devin stays in the hospital tonight," I say. "Is it serious?" Travis asked. "I think it's food poisoning, he has fever, chills and was puking. What did he eat in the morning? Did you boys saw him eating something weird?" "I don't know," Travis said. "I saw him drinking the packed milkshake and the sandwich before the exam," Ace said. "Did he check the expiry date on it?"  "No, he simply ate it without seeing the expiry date." I close my eyes and sigh. Devin has a bad habit of eating anything without seeing the expiry dates. He has a weak stomach and I will always be careful of what he is eating but he doesn't care about what he is eating. "Are you going to call his mother and inform her about this?" Israel asked. "His mother is out of the station, she doesn't know about the vacation. I will inform her if he says okay." "Okay, are you going to stay there?"  "Yes. Someone bring food after an hour," I tell them looking at the closed doors. "Okay."  I end the call and lean back in my seat. Time passes before the doctor steps out of the room and I immediately stand up. "What happened to my friend doctor?" I ask the doctor. "It was because of the campylobacter which is found on contaminated food and drinks. He has poor immunity power which made him sick and it can be risky if he ate all kinds of food without knowing. We put him under the medication now as his body needs rest and gave him intravenous (IV) fluids. The nurse will give you the diet sheet." "Is he fine now or is it serious?" I ask the doctor in seriousness. I don't want anything to happen to Devin. "No... He is fine now, we will discharge him tomorrow but you need to take care of his diet and what he is eating." "Okay." The doctor leaves, I step into the room to see a sleeping Devin. I sit on the sofa, watch him before my eyes become heavy. I get into a comfortable position and sleep.
