Rowan's POV:
"We tried all our best to protect one another. But still, I can't help but to think that we failed Gaius," I said looking away.
Elder Henry, as though he could sense the guilt I was harboring within me, held my arm in a firm grip and said, "Alpha, You shouldn't blame yourself. You were faced with unimaginable dangers and attacks and yet you made it out alive, that alone is a demonstration of strength and leadership," he said and paused a bit.
Then he continued, "Nonetheless, we need to be extremely careful now, as whatever or whoever was behind this is still out there and we can't afford to make any mistake."
"You're correct and that is why I want to call for a council meeting. We really need to examine our plans and prepare ahead for whatever comes next," I responded.
