Chapter 1

"Aunty, aunty~ you can't catch me!" I giggled, running up the stairs as fast as my little 4-year-old legs could carry me.
"Now, now, let's not underestimate your aunt." She replied.
I muffled my little giggles that erupted now and then and ran into the walk-in closet upstairs. There was a cabin where my aunt usually places her shoes and I crawled in there thinking 'she'll never find me now!'
15 minutes have passed since I hid. I hear the sounds of people talking downstairs. I heard words like. "No."
"You can't."
"Old lady."
"She's my niece."
The conversation started to turn more aggressive and I began to tremble. Suddenly, I heard the sounds of bones crackling and growls erupt from downstairs, followed by my aunt's piercing screams. I began to sob, not knowing what fate awaited my aunt.
The sounds that followed next where heartbreaking. The sounds of teeth piercing flesh and my aunt's terrified screams. My tears began to flow non-stop and my eyes were glued shut.
The sounds ceased.....and so did the nightmare.

I woke up swiftly, panting and breathing unevenly. I ruffled my gold hair and took off the bedsheets on top of me. I laid back down and began to calm down slowly. It's been 14 years but the memory still haunts me. It doesn't last long, for my memory has been too foggy to remember anything else.
I took a glance at the clock, 8:19 a.m. I had a hang-out with Tyler at 10:00. I loved him with all my heart and vice versa. Though we never went past a few innocent make-outs. Such lust never existed between us.
I sat up in my bed and scooched over to the side. I reached over to the side bed table and grabbed a scrunchie. I pulled my hair into a messy bun and stood up from bed, walking over to my bathroom. I stared at myself through the mirror; everyone told me that my blue eyes are like piercing blue ice. It scared most people away but I didn't know why.
I slipped out of my nightgown and stepped into the shower letting my thoughts and the hot water consume me.

20 minutes later I was sitting in my "dining room" table drinking a quick cup of coffee. My apartment was very small, the best my money could afford. The kitchen, dining room, and bedroom were combined. The only thing that had its room was my bathroom. I barely had any food for meals and because of this, I finished my coffee quick. I drink it in small portions; careful to not waste any more ground coffee.
I was all dressed up already in my red halter crop top and shorty shorts. I only dressed sexy on dates, the rest of my clothing was pretty bland. Before walking out the door I give my chinchilla a quick goodbye kiss as well as supplying her food bowl. She was the only company when I was home alone.
I hopped into my honda's driver seat, quickly setting my GPS to the place Tyler said to meet up. I've never been there before mostly because it was out of town. It was a clothing store. Tyler needed my advice for buying the perfect suit. I swear sometimes he's like a little kid. A little kid that always makes me smile.
I began driving to my destination thinking about the total cost for a new car. My car was pretty beat up, again the best my money could afford. But through hard work anything was possible.
Once at the store I saw Tyler from a distance. He was frowning and seemed to be having an internal debate with himself. That's when I saw the two suits he was holding up. I rolled my eyes and smiled. Sometimes he can be cute.
I tip-toed behind him and trapped him in a bear hug.
"You know I already saw you from a mile away, right?" He chuckled.
"How?" I began to pout but he pulled me in for a brief sweet kiss.
"But please, help me decide!" He pleaded and wrapped an arm around my waist.
I rolled my eyes, " Obviously the one on the right," I began to study each of the suits," the one on the left clashes with your eyes horribly and looks like it will make you drown in it."
I looked up at him and faked a wound to the heart, "Harsh, but the truth."
I laughed out and asked, "Now you need to get shoes, " I briefly pointed down, "sneakers clash horribly with a suit." I scrunched up my nose just thinking about it.
"Yes, ma'am." Tyler fake salutes me and I slap his arm playfully.
We walk to the shoe section holding hands and we pass by two guys, one of which was incredibly good-looking. He seemed to be searching around for something and his friend seemed to be excited. His head seems to shoot towards my direction and we make eye contact. His dark eyes seem to be drinking me in and I slowly fell hypnotized by them. I felt immense butterflies in my stomach and excitement. My heart began pounding harder and harder until I thought that anyone could hear it from miles away.
"Baby, are you listening?" Came Tyler's voice from afar which snapped me out of my trance. I shook my head and Tyler looked at me worriedly.
He pulled me towards him by my waist and asked, "Are you ok?"
"I'm fi-" I was suddenly interrupted by a low growl coming from the greek god over there. Wait, growled? I glance over at him and his friend. The sight was surprising. His friend seemed to be holding him back while he seemed to be ready to kill somebody.
"Brandon, stop it people are watching now!" Brandon's friend pleaded. His name was Brandon, huh?
"Brandon?" I say out loud unconsciously and Brandon stops struggling. His eyes darken with what looks like lust and his muscle relax. I want to know what he's thinking and feeling. It feels safe to think about him.
I want to be safe in his arms, it was my first thought. But why? I loved Tyler. Or did I not? I frowned, deep in thought. I felt light-headed and extremely confused with these new feelings and questions.
"Brandon? Who's- nevermind we should go no, you look pale." Tyler once again dragged me out of my thoughts.
The only thing I could reply was a meek, "Ok."
I took one last glance at Brandon before walking out of the store. I had a strong feeling that this was far from over.
